I prepared for cat 21 following ur strategy and in cat 20 I had 20 percentile and in 21 I got 82 percentile. This year in 22 I am targeting 99 percentile. Your videos are helpful and insightful. beta... pickup a maths book and start, that's it... NCERT will do for now... if you want you can buy a good slow-paced maths' video course as well.. Takshzilla is good for that... And work on your calculations.. that is very important.. even more important is not to take any shortcuts or look for any methods... doing things the hard way usually is the best way for your development.. :)
exactly how other students do beta... just start studying and practice a lot.. make things harder for you... don't try to use shortcuts or tricks.. think over each question in depth before giving up.. and work a lot on your fundamentals.. beta FMS bhi mil sakta hai.. but you will have to first improve your Maths and English to match the level of other students... It might take you at least a year of preparation.. and a lot of hard work during that one year.. but you can do it... stop thinking about the outcome.. just start studying and working on your self-improvement.. I will make a detailed video on improving English.. but for the time being.. first work on your vocab and reading.. that's how you begin..
there was no special strategy beta... I designed personalised reading list for her to improve her English and I kept changing it throughout the year as she progressed... then I asked her to leave DI completely, as I usually suggest to students from Non-maths background, and asked her to make LR an absolute fort of a subject for herself.. for which I gave her a small path of easy to difficult to very difficult sets... and I asked her to focus only and only on calculations, speed and Arithmetic in Quants, which is my default suggestions to all students from Arts background.. but while most students simply say they would do things, she actually did all of it... she actually read a lot, actually spoke a lot, actually solved hundreds of sets, and actually worked on calculations, speed and basic Arithmetic so much that her Maths improved significantly.. While most students say "I would do anything, sir", she actually studied for 12-14 hours every day for a year without break and without complaints... so it was not the strategy but rather the implementation that made her successful... All credit to her for that.. :)

If not.. then you need to change things.. and only you can change it.. nobody else can do that for you.. so.. tell yourself that you will change it now.. That's it..

As plan B - I would like to write CAT exam. Does my academic background and gap years count for my selection in CAT? Please sir suggest me
Well, it will hurt your chances a little because the gap has become pretty big and prominent now... But that's ok.. you can think it like this - at a score on which some other student will convert old IIM, you will be able to convert a new IIM... So, you can still get into a top college... there are many who will take you happily as long as your CAT score is good.. But.. having said that.. CAT is not a test that can be your plan B mere bachhe.. :) It's pretty damn difficult to crack for those who make it their top priority... what makes you so sure you will be able to crack this exam as a plan B?

dekho bachhe.. mehant karni padegi.. bohot.. as long as you do that and do not rely only on your coaching for your preparation, you will do it for sure... your gap year won't matter, don't worry... focus on improving yourself and your knowledge.. that's it.. since it's a distance program you are pursuing, I assume you will have some free time in your hands everyday, utilize it.. utilize it properly.. and you will do well..
well.. first of all bachhe.. a little bad news for you.. Pre-graduation work experience is not considered valid by any Indian b-school.. and since you are still pursuing Graduation, you will be considered a fresher.. in which case, nope, there are no chances... unless you are from ST or PwD category..

@@abhaynavik1699 Well, beta... for all this hue and cry about past academics, I have not known a single student so far (and I have known a few thousand) who couldn't get into a good b-school after scoring well in CAT... however, I have hundreds (literally hundreds) who could not get into any good b-school because they did not score well in CAT... and why did they not score well in CAT? Because they were too busy focusing on their profile improvement.... Which is why I ask students not to worry about their profile.. first get a 95+ score in CAT, if you do not get a good b-school after it, you can complain... but that won't happen..

Your chances of getting into an old IIM are next to 0 beta.. and your chances of getting into a new IIM are weak.. but yes, you can get into a baby IIM without any problem and you can also get into some good private b-schools as well... However, you will have to perform really well in CAT.. your concern should not be whether you can get into an IIM, your concern should be - how to crack CAT. In this one tiny message that you have dropped, I can see that your English is very bad, which tells me that you haven't utilised your Engineering years to improve yourself. You have to start working hard towards your development. That should be your concern. As long as you do that, things will be fine.

I have been through it.. i understand your fear.. par ye jo dar hai.. ye purely irrational hai.. kya hai ye beizzati.. koi aur kaise decide kar sakta hai ke tum life me kya karoge.. no matter how you live life, there will be some people who will not be happy with it and tell you that you are stupid.. When I did my MBA, there were a few friends who thought I was doing it too early and it was a mistake.. When I joined my first job, there were a lot of batchmates who thought it wasn't a good company or profile.. When I did not switch job to make more money, some people thought it was stupid because I was wasting some opportunities and when I thought of changing the job there were some in my company who thought it would be stupid because no other company would value me as much as this one did.. When I started my own company, a lot of people thought it was stupid.. but when I decided to go back to a job there were a few friends who told me I was giving up too early and it was bad.. When I became a teacher, so many thought I was wasting my MBA degree.. YOU CAN NOT MAKE THE WORLD HAPPY. Because there are too many people in this world and there will always be some who won't be happy with your direction of life.. they would ridicule you, make fun of you, call you stupid and other things.. and it will happen all your life.. Just 3 months ago somebody called me stupid because I teach only 40 students in a year.. the person said I was wasting my opportunities away instead of making money.. he said I was spending too much time with students and instead, I should spend that time marketing my institute and selling more courses.. so, should I take his advise and instead of focusing on students, focus on making money?? Will my students be happy then? That's the thing beta.. no matter what you do, some people will find a way to ridicule you.. don't waste your time thinking what others would say.. you do what your heart tells you. That's the only thing that matters.. the only opinion that will take you to the right place.. Do well.

you surely can beta.. I am from Hindi Medium school as well.. Meenu was from Hindi Medium school.. another student of mine who was from Hindi Medium school is sitting at a good college today.. the medium was in the past.. what matters is what you in the present.. if you are willing to work thrice as hard as other students, you can do it.. but you will have work very very very hard.. that's it.. but if you want to study for 3-4 hours a day and crack the test, it won't happen.. you need 13-14 hours everyday for one whole year.. do you have the will power to put in this much of hard work..??

@@SN00037 well, mere bachhe.. I think yes.. you have enough work experience under your belt and if you really want to do MBA then you should give your best shot once for sure.. If your family financial condition is stable, then you should definitely take the risk and give it your all once..
well.. you need 80+ to get into a top college bachhe.. if you can score 90, you will get any college you want.. and yes, placements ho jaate hain.. obviously money wise, you will have to compromise a little.. but I think that's not a deal breaker.. since the final package will still be very good..
hai.. but can you do it? I don't know, kid... because I don't know you... I don't know if you are an engineer or an arts student.. from an IIT or a tier III college.. whether you've been reading books your whole life or have still not started reading even a newspaper.. so, I can't say if you can crack CAT in 2 months... only you can..

I designed personalised reading list for her to improve her English and I kept changing it throughout the year as she progressed... then I asked her to leave DI completely, as I usually suggest to students from Non-maths background, and asked her to make LR an absolute fort of a subject for herself.. for which I gave her a small path of easy to difficult to very difficult sets... and I asked her to focus only and only on calculations, speed and Arithmetic in Quants, which is my default suggestions to all students from Arts background..
but while most students simply say they would do things, she actually did all of it... she actually read a lot, actually spoke a lot, actually solved hundreds of sets, and actually worked on calculations, speed and basic Arithmetic so much that her Maths improved significantly..
While most students say "I would do anything, sir", she actually studied for 12-14 hours every day for a year without break and without complaints...
so it was not the strategy but rather the implementation that made her successful... All credit to her for that.. :)

Sir, I am a pharma student graduated in 2018 with 67%, after graduation I started to prepare for bank exams, but I couldn't crack it, and still want to try for the last time. As plan B - I would like to write CAT exam. Does my academic background and gap years count for my selection in CAT? Please sir suggest me
Well, it will hurt your chances a little because the gap has become pretty big and prominent now... But that's ok.. you can think it like this - at a score on which some other student will convert old IIM, you will be able to convert a new IIM...
So, you can still get into a top college... there are many who will take you happily as long as your CAT score is good..
But.. having said that.. CAT is not a test that can be your plan B mere bachhe.. :) It's pretty damn difficult to crack for those who make it their top priority... what makes you so sure you will be able to crack this exam as a plan B?

well.. first of all bachhe.. a little bad news for you.. Pre-graduation work experience is not considered valid by any Indian b-school.. and since you are still pursuing Graduation, you will be considered a fresher.. in which case, nope, there are no chances... unless you are from ST or PwD category..

@@abhaynavik1699 Well, beta... for all this hue and cry about past academics, I have not known a single student so far (and I have known a few thousand) who couldn't get into a good b-school after scoring well in CAT... however, I have hundreds (literally hundreds) who could not get into any good b-school because they did not score well in CAT... and why did they not score well in CAT? Because they were too busy focusing on their profile improvement....
Which is why I ask students not to worry about their profile.. first get a 95+ score in CAT, if you do not get a good b-school after it, you can complain... but that won't happen..

Your chances of getting into an old IIM are next to 0 beta.. and your chances of getting into a new IIM are weak.. but yes, you can get into a baby IIM without any problem and you can also get into some good private b-schools as well...
However, you will have to perform really well in CAT.. your concern should not be whether you can get into an IIM, your concern should be - how to crack CAT.
In this one tiny message that you have dropped, I can see that your English is very bad, which tells me that you haven't utilised your Engineering years to improve yourself. You have to start working hard towards your development. That should be your concern. As long as you do that, things will be fine.

When I did my MBA, there were a few friends who thought I was doing it too early and it was a mistake..
When I joined my first job, there were a lot of batchmates who thought it wasn't a good company or profile..
When I did not switch job to make more money, some people thought it was stupid because I was wasting some opportunities and when I thought of changing the job there were some in my company who thought it would be stupid because no other company would value me as much as this one did..
When I started my own company, a lot of people thought it was stupid.. but when I decided to go back to a job there were a few friends who told me I was giving up too early and it was bad..
When I became a teacher, so many thought I was wasting my MBA degree..

Just 3 months ago somebody called me stupid because I teach only 40 students in a year.. the person said I was wasting my opportunities away instead of making money.. he said I was spending too much time with students and instead, I should spend that time marketing my institute and selling more courses.. so, should I take his advise and instead of focusing on students, focus on making money?? Will my students be happy then?
That's the thing beta.. no matter what you do, some people will find a way to ridicule you..
don't waste your time thinking what others would say.. you do what your heart tells you. That's the only thing that matters.. the only opinion that will take you to the right place..

you surely can beta.. I am from Hindi Medium school as well.. Meenu was from Hindi Medium school.. another student of mine who was from Hindi Medium school is sitting at a good college today..
the medium was in the past.. what matters is what you in the present.. if you are willing to work thrice as hard as other students, you can do it.. but you will have work very very very hard.. that's it..
but if you want to study for 3-4 hours a day and crack the test, it won't happen.. you need 13-14 hours everyday for one whole year.. do you have the will power to put in this much of hard work..??

well.. you need 80+ to get into a top college bachhe.. if you can score 90, you will get any college you want.. and yes, placements ho jaate hain.. obviously money wise, you will have to compromise a little.. but I think that's not a deal breaker.. since the final package will still be very good..
