- AMMO NYC car wash products review! In this video, I do a brand review of the car detailing products of AMMO NYC, a car detailing products company based in New York, USA. Larry Kosilla, the founder of the company, was a trader on Wall Street before quitting his job and deciding to pursue his biggest passion: car detailing. He founded AMMO NYC in 2011, a business of detailing cars and selling high quality car detailing products.
His motto is “Drive and Protect”. Larry wants you to drive and enjoy your car, and also to detail and protect it to maximize its beauty. As Larry often says, cleaning a car should be part of the joy of owning it and I fully agree with him!
In the video, I will talk about many of the AMMO NYC car wash products, explain what they are, what they do and more importantly how to use them. They are truly some of the best detailing products on the market today.
PAINT REGIMEN KIT:
Foam paint cleanser. Provides a constant layer of lubrication between your wash mitt and the paint. The dirt is gently released from the paint and into the foam. It can be used as a pre-wash soap as well if added to a foam cannon. It will not strip waxes or sealants.
Hydrate paint moisturizer. Eliminates scratches that occur during the drying process. Apply two or three sprays of the product onto a dry microfiber towel and lightly wipe the paint in straight lines to pick up the water and leave a layer of protection behind.
Skin Defense Coat. Super durable polymer based coating, also known as a paint sealant. It adheres to the clear coat and you can layer it to increase shine and protection. Lasts up to 6 months. Apply it in straight lines, one panel at a time. After 1-3 minutes, buff off with a clean microfiber towel. Can also be applied to headlights, tail lights, chrome and rims.
Spit Emergency Shine. Quick detailer that removes light dust or dirt when you have no access to water. It safely encapsulates the dirt and leaves behind a clean and protected surface. Lightly spray on the affected panel and gently wipe with a clean microfiber towel. Lightly buff to a shine with a second microfiber towel. It’s a spray wax that offers a quick and safe way to perform on-the-fly touchups.
WHEEL REGIMEN KIT:
Brute Wheel Soap. Specifically designed for wheels only. It was engineered to be tough on break dust and road grime.
Plum Wheel Cleaner. It releases brake dust and iron particles that are embedded in the wheels. Rinse the wheel, then spray Plum on the wheel and let it dwell for 30 seconds before agitating with a wheel brush. As the wheel cleaner begins to work, it will change color from clear to plum. It will not damage paint. It’s a non-acidic oH neutral formula.
Mud tire gel. Tire dressing that contains oils that moisturize the rubber and protect it against UV rays. This product doesn’t produce tire sling. It offers a well-balanced shine, not too glossy and not matte either.
INTERIOR REGIMEN KIT:
Lather Interior Cleanser. All-purpose cleaner for plastics and leather. Perfect for cleaning and restoring interiors. Simply spray on the surface, and gently agitate with an interior brush or microfiber towel and wipe away.

Yes Larry has been in the game for years. Great guy! Superb detailer. I have been detailing for 20 years but have only started my channel in April 2016. In less than two years, I still made it past 8 million views and 81 000 subscribers so far and I have one of the fastest growing detailing channels on TH-cam. I work really hard to produce my videos and am blessed with a great audience. Lots more videos and surprises to come! 👍🏻
Hey Pan, I found Larry's vid's years ago and have seen many of them over that time. Larry is a guy that has so much passion for detailing cars and for sharing his knowledge with as many people as possible. I have wondered about his products but I too felt his prices were a bit out of my league just to take a chance on. Having said that I thank you for a review on his products, as usual it was informative. Just some food for thought...I would love to see you do a comparison side by side with some of Larry's products with another well known company products...like a product shoot out!

When using AMMO Hydrate you are supposed to use it with a damp microfiber towel not dry
This is true
You are 100% correct. I wanted to say dry but said clean instead. Darn! :). But anyhow, after the first couple wipes on the paint, the towel will become wet and the next sprays of Hydrate will work as they're supposed to.

I don't know if I've asked you before, but how did you discover my channel?
I've been eyeing up a 2015+ golf R to replace my 2012 Jeep Wrangler 2 door, as I've recently found out my family's about to expand. So while researching the car, as well as having an interest in detailing (keeping a black jeep looking decent while wheeling it isn't easy!!) your golf R detailing vid randomly showed up in the autoplay list after watching a few other golf R vids. So I watched it, enjoyed it, and have since watched your top detailing products and tips and tricks etc to help me possible do some detailing on the side for some extra cash. The more info the better. I also enjoyed the info on ceramic coatings. Cheers from Oshawa Ontario.

Yeah it seems like it was so long ago now, as we're so used to having microfiber towels. But there were times where all people had were terry towels, old cotton rags, and blue shop towels.

I use Ammo Foam and Boost weekly to combat the road salt here in Boston. Super high quality stuff. Not sure if it really helps with anti-corruption because theres just so much salt on the roads here, but definitely can't hurt! I also enjoy using Mud.

Great vid! How many coats of skin should I apply? Or could I apply? I planned on doing 2 coats of reflex pro, 2-3 coats of skin and wax for car shows. Also you should do a review of reflex pro by ammo
That is way too many coats, not necessary. Reflex Pro alone is more than enough. If you absolutely want to apply Skin on top, one coat will be enough.

Great videos. Larry from Ammo NYC is really helpful and happy to share his knowledge. However, being in the UK and not a detailing professional this is very expensive. to buy the total kit including the wheel brush it would cost £278 (subject to exchange rate). if I wanted the frothe system it would be a further £98. Which if you consider with Frothe, buckets, water, hoses, etc are not required it's probably not that bad.
You'll have many other brand reviews on my channel, including many available directly in the UK. ;)

I've been using Larry's products almost exclusively for my detailing business. I just wish he could sell in bulk for those of us who use this line of products.

I love ammo and Larry, but like angel wax, the products are Just to expensive for what I need. Great products and quality is why they can charge what they do
Yes they are great products. If you do have the chance to pick one product up one day (no need to buy the entire range at the beginning), give it a chance and you'll be hooked. ;)
I am not a cheap person. Over the years I have learned alot from Larry. But would you say that his products are worth the money? There are several products out there. I have seen no tests with him comparing AMMO vs. others. That is why I now gravitate towards Adam's, 303 and P&S products. Thank you.
His products are definitely worth it. I have his lineup pretty much. I also use consumer price products like adam and turtle wax too. It's definitely not for commercial or company use since it is on the high side and he doesn't offer a bigger size in products. It's really for the enthusiasts and those who just like adding to the collection. I say his is high quality as he designs all his products to work together unlike most who just spits out products for the sake of covering all bases.

If you're talking about Ammo FROTHe hoseless wash, then absolutely yes! I've been testing it for over a week now (I always test products thoroughly before making videos) and will report my findings. I don't normally talk about future videos so it can be a surprise, but since you asked... :)

You could but I prefer glass sealants on glass.

I been using aero cosmetics for a while now. Switched to it from meguiars ultimate products. Feel like i made the right decision but im no expert. Would really love to see you do a comparison test between the 3. Good vid thanks

If I spray waxed my car and I bought sealant after (eg turtle wax ice spray first and meguiars ultimate paste wax/nu finish after) can I just put the sealant on or does the spray wax have to come off first? After sealant can I use spray wax weekly or touch up?

I respect Larry work and a fan of his&your videos...However I do think it's not worth the money to buy his product and his price has dropped from the last time I looked at his products I'm guessing he wasn't getting enough sales due to price?
Larry chemist is also his wife.

How much soap should I use in a foam cannon? I want good thick foam but I also don’t want to waste a lot because it’s kinda expansive.
You need to find the dilution that's appropriate for your setup. It changes from one person to another, as not everyone uses the same pressure washer, foam cannon, and not everyone has good water (some have hard water issues, others like me have a water deionizer which generates more suds and foam), etc.
A good starting point is 2 oz of shampoo in 18 oz of water in the foam cannon (21 oz total), and adjust from there.

Dammit I have matte paint(not wrap) scratches don't show oh well all I do is quick wash however and only clean the windows more it doesn't show water spots neither
We all know that selling things on Amazon is the way to go unless you have a bad product then you don`t want to be selling your product . Forgive me if i did not look hard enough but I did not see these products on Amazon ! If they are not, it leads me to believe they could get to many bad reviews if it is a bad product, Thoughts !!
Ammo distributes his own line, it musn’t be as easy as we think to setup Amazon accounts. I would have to ask Larry, the owner. But his line is legit. He has the biggest detailing channel on TH-cam for a reason. He’s a great detailer.
Hydrate works better applied with a damp towel.

There are so many great products on the market I can’t believe any single individual has invented anything completely different. A lot of marketing savvy going on. I saw a drop dead detail on a vette the other day and asked the guy what he used...to my surprise he told me Mother’s!

Pan TheOrganizer been subscribed for awhile and like what I see....a fellow Canadian as well. My comment is not directed at you personally but the detailing market in general. So many products that claim to be the best but I feel that if you properly prepared a car with various like quality products I don’t believe any one could tell the difference. Quality and price in this market are not connected I believe. I believe the care and attention of the person applying the product is the most important factor in a good result. Cheers!
Hi from Montreal! Yes the experience and care you put into a detail job are key factors, but quality products do make a difference in my opinion. In my 20+ years of detailing, I’ve tried hundreds and hundreds of products so I can talk by experience. I share the best ones with my viewers to help guide them in this endless sea of marketing and thousands of products.
Pan TheOrganizer it is all relative to ones expectations. I personally have high standards. I have been detailing for myself for 40 years on over 35 cars boats and RV’s. I agree some products are better than others but I personally do not have to pay hundreds of dollars for a wax to get the results I am looking for and remain highly suspicious of companies that produce products at that level. What ingredients could cost so much to justify the end price? Thank you for taking the time to reply to my comments.
Oh I get your point to some extent. You could give me a 5$ el cheapo liquid wax from a big box store and I could produce very good results that 80% of people would love. But there is a percentage of the population who demand more. A cheapo liquid wax will last 2-3 weeks while a 60-80$ ceramic coating will last two years. There’s also other factors that make more expensive products better such as easier to use, smell good, last longer, higher beading and sheeting capabilities, higher working temperatures, etc.
But yes there are businesses out there that produce snake oil and are purely driven by profits. Those companies don’t make the cut to my channel.

How would you say ammo hydrate compares to something like griotts best in show detailer?
Hydrate is not at all a detailer. It’s a new form form of drying aid, adding extra lubricity during the drying stage.
