It's really helpful to watch all the slight issues with assembly. That way we know that we are on the right path. When you watch an assembly vid and everything goes perfectly smooth, it makes it difficult to know if the process is correct. Thank you.
Nice video .. Thanks for making it .. I have a request .. I have been looking all over TH-cam for a video on installing the old fashioned free float tubes but have not been able to find one. Hoping you guys will do one someday. Keep up the good work.
Good stuff fellas. Took a while but I found you guys after I suffered through doing the majority of these builds from other semi informative users. Loved this one in particular as that is my favorite handguard from BCM. Excellent job on the 80 percent from 80 percent arms. I did all that minus the dremel work on the inside lol. I am more accustomed to Moly Resin but looks like I will give the ceracoat a try. Duracoat is cool with all the colors but I don't like the hardener going bad on me with them charging soooo much to ship. Keep up the vids.
I put an Aero Precision handguard on my rifle. Super tight machining. I can't tell where the upper ends and the handguard begins. I do have old eyes though.......
Awesome video guys. Completely agree with you on the looks of that alpha handguard. We put that on my son's build about a two weeks ago. I liked it so much I decided that was going on my build too even though I prefer M-Lok over keymod, lol. And yes, it was a mother to slide that guard on. Did it just like you with heat and a rubber mallet. Keep up the great work!
Liberty Marksman M-lok version has been announced finally. Also there are two versions of this rail, the lighter magnesium/aluminum alloy and the heavier aluminum only. The Alpha you have here being the later of the two. Nice install video as well!
@Remington Steel I would say it does matter if you're seeing your wrench to 80 ft lbs. And depending on how long the crows foot is, you can over torque
I have used many BCM handguards and for the money , you can't beat them. One thing I might add , some people don't like the bright white logo and info on the rail. I wiped mine with a little CLP to deaden the color. Now it is not as bright and looks great.
Also the torque wrench should be 90 deg with the barrel nut wrench. If you have it inline, like in this video, you are adding extra leverage (the torque value is higher than the value the torque wrench is set to).
I can’t decide what brand to buy as far as a hand guard. BCM, Midwest Industries, Geissele, Wilson Combat, or a recommendation. What is the best quality setup for around the 200 dollar mark? Its going on an Ascend Armory billet set.
I recently purchased a KMR hand guard. Is it common for the "anti rotation" thing to ring like a bell?Very disappointed for a BCM product.Might have to go back to the UTG Pro hand guard it replaced. At least it won't tell every one within a mile or two I'm there.
Put upper in freezer. After one hour remove, put in fixture heat up install end of guard and slip on. Let upper come up to room temp and then install bolts.
Love the handguard, hate the barrel nut. I've had a couple that have trouble seating the wrench, which results in stripping the nut itself. Tolerance stacking is a thing, and if you've never installed one of these before it might be worth: 1. Pick up an extra barrel nut for $16, and 2. Have a helper there that can hold the wrench onto the nut putting pressure in towards the receiver while you torque.
How the heck do you get it off? Just bought an upper and there is so much oil on this thing I feel like I need to remove the hand guard to clean it up.
I have the bcm mlok rail...i love it, so small, but how can i reinstall, without problems...i need to check the gasport, and block, because today ejecting at 2 oclock...before installing it was on 3-3,5 oclock...with the same gas block...😊
I dont know why when i put the handguard on the accuracy is gone. I shot at 100 yard without the handguard on is like .3 inches spread. With handguard i get like 3 inch grouping.
Love the tight tolerance of the BCM, but don't you think it could crack or split if you put a bunch of rounds threw the rifle and get that barrel good and hot? Would like to see a torture test on the BCM.
Nice DIY! Well done. Thanks for the video. You can beat on it with a hammer but you're not supposed to wiggle it. D'oh. Not real fond of that cross-bolt. It's kind of klugey.
2.5 yrs later keymod vs mloc....???thx 4 the vid keep up the great work (all i want 2 install is EOTEC n some hand stops) should b ok right??? I have a BCM Charging Handle Lrg Latch...I trust them
What are you guys saying when youre talking over each other 4:05 in. Its in the vise and you slide the upper and barrel over it. seems like some sort of guide
I'm wondering the same thing...I've looked at these reaction rods and am trying to find them cheaper. I found this one botach.com/kz-barrel-spline-socket-rod-for-ar15-m4-upper-5-56mm-receivers/
Bcm complete uppers are a bitch to breakdown. I literally had to use a blowtorch just to melt some of the lock tight that was in it and some major pressure to loosen everything up.
Put the upper in the freezer and the hand guard just warm up with hair dryer it should go right on. We use to do Piston pins on our Chevy motors like that it works.. or use a gosinta.....
Wellllll the only way I would approve to remove one of these sexy rails is if it's this exact keymod thing lol bunch of little penises all over ain't the business Haha I have three QRF 12" on my 20" build. I'm gonna upload a video of that build here pretty soon
Worst hand gaurd I ever installed. The long locking bolts ride against the gas tube while trying to install them. The barrel nut is way too tight. They are right the whole handgaurd is a pain in the bass
Love you guys and your videos but gotta say, this video only made me want to select A DIFFERENT after-market handguard set-up for my AR. Way more trouble than that thing was worth! Haha
Liberty Marksman he didn’t loosen it than tighten it though? He said it was unnecessary everything was a tight fit and it looks like everything was correctly fitted.
You guys kill me with your antics. I've always loved the products BCM makes.
lol Thank you.
Scott & Ken, I can't tell how much I appreciate your reviews & builds. Your humor is also greatly appreciated! Best Regards-Ken

Just came across this video while trying to REMOVE my BCM KMA rail. Nothing better than real-world, backshop videos. Great job, guys. 👍👍
you have a good point , how do you take it off once you beat in on ? Please don't say beat it off....lol
Need to know how you did it, did you have any issues with the loctite, and was it hard to get the rail off?
@@unholydudetx put a vertical grip on the rail and use a rubber hammer mallet and bang the on the vertical grip to get it off
Definetly a fan of the BCM KMR handguards the 17" model is nice fits great on my 18" barrel great job BCM
I really enjoy watching your videos. Very informative yet entertaining.
Thank you David that's what we aim for.
I had a lot of fun just now installing my mcmr with this video playing 😂
you guys are awesome! it's so much fun to watch your videos!
Just started watching y'all enjoy your humor and y'all do good vids

"your molting" lol instant sub, watching videos like this inspire me to keep building rifles to fill my safe(s) with. build on my friends.
With matching black shirts, cap turned backwards and wooden cutting board looking table, I thought this was a how to for sushi making.
That's in a different play list!!! lmfao
That BCM KMR Alpha rail is nice I have a 17" on my Daniel Defense mk12 barrel fits nice great look
I put an Aero Precision handguard on my rifle. Super tight machining. I can't tell where the upper ends and the handguard begins. I do have old eyes though.......
entertaining and informative, this grunt approves!
Thank you
Got a bunch of those heat guns at my work. Surprisingly they all still work.
Always nice to grab a tool and it works. Hate when people put back a broken one.
“This guy used to have a lot more hair until this hair dryer” haha!! Thanks for the install help.
Pro trick : watch series on flixzone. Me and my gf have been using it for watching all kinds of movies recently.
@Jason Leandro Yup, I've been using Flixzone for since december myself :)
You guys are great and hilarious. Great video guys.
Thank you!
Whatever is wrong with you two is no small thing. hahaha Really enjoy the vids. Keep em coming!

Do you have to check the headspace after this or is it good to go???
You should be attaching the spanner crows foot at 90 degrees to the torque wrench to achieve the proper torque .
LOL!
I was just coming to see if anyone was calling him on that.
Who cares..do you feel smart now?? they literally said that in the video which proves you commented without watching the video..lol
@@Snowy0123 You like your teeth being knocked in don't you litt kid? Or you just hide behind your keyboard with attitude.
@Remington Steel I would say it does matter if you're seeing your wrench to 80 ft lbs. And depending on how long the crows foot is, you can over torque
I like that it seems like the barrel nut didn't need to be timed, and that the crow foot was included, but the heat gun business seems like a pain
First video from yall and subscribed.
Thanks Joshua 👊

Hi guys great video have a question the receiver Who make the upper Thank you.
Very nice upper. How does the Green Mountain barrel shoot?
like these videos, well done.
Thank you.
anyone know the length of the Handguard and the Barrel? much appreciated

The gas block needs some attention or did i miss you guys putting it on?

What's the point of the 2 cross bolts that tighten across the upper end of the rail? I don't see what they're needed for?
Great video guys. Hooked another sub!
Thank you!
How the heck do you get it off? Just bought an upper and there is so much oil on this thing I feel like I need to remove the hand guard to clean it up.
Does the barrel nut need the bcm wrench or can I use any wrench?

the aluminum rail will also get hot and expand I think right, haven't heard of this issue so I guess it's alright..
What's the reason you do it four times? I got lost there... Is it completely necessary????
Thanks for actually using a scale. The manufacturers lie about the weight or only weigh the rail and not the nut and mounting hardware.
No problem and thanks for watching.
What kind of action rod is that?
Man I thought you were gonna forget to put the gas block on. I could just imagine the commentary on that one.
I'll bet that thing is a joy to take off
Nothing a flame wrench can't take care of lol

Fuck ya you guys seem honest and awesome, keep it up.
what size torque ranch do you need to have it the right size to get into the hole on the barrel nut wrench?
Boris Kogan was 1/2
What do you guys use to put it in the wisegrip that holds the upper?
I think a rubber mallet would do it it's locked onto the barrel nut like that one is
The $64K question, how the hell would you take that off now?
Rubber mallet, comes off fairly easily. You don't have to whale on it, so the likelihood of bending it is low.
is that rail the 13 or 15 inch? the rifle looks awesome.
That is a 15" with a 18" barrel, Thank you
They normally put white grease when inserting those from the fsctory
What size and type of wrench are you using on the bolt to lock on the rail? Thank you
You ever find out?

yea thats what happens when you film after a 14 hour day lol.

will this fit with a standard .750 low pro gas block?
yes That's the size we have.
Liberty Marksman OK, I think I'll be getting this rail

You can but will need some more parts. Delta ring kit for starters.

Not a bad video but need to have a real camera operator or redo how your camera sets if your wanting to do close ups

Don't grease threads! Putting grease on threads changes the torque specs
Yes, that is true. But It specifies in the install instructions to use grease on the threads.
