This tutorial was amazing!! I'm a beginner in watercolor and I'm very happy with my results after watching this video and painting my panda. I couldn't believe that I was able to do such a nice watercolor so soon. Thanks for sharing you knowledge with us!! Hugs from Brazil
It’s absolutely a great tutorial. I successfully painted the Panda for a friend and in the end i couldn’t believe that I was the painter of it. I just followed your lines and it came to life. Wow. Thank you!
If someone told be I would be able to paint a panda within a few weeks since I started my Let's Make Art subscription I would have told them, 'yeah, right, so you know I have no artistic skills right?' It's cray-cray how you break things down in so few steps. I have so much more confidence since I started taking your classes. I think you are a treasure Sarah Cray.
Pandas are mostly docile if captive although potentially dangerous but wild pandas can be aggressive and give deadly bites along with the use of their claws. They don't rear up like a grisly but is still capable of attacking. Always struggled with watercolour but your tutorials are the best I've found and boy I've watched a lot. Love your back story of how you started and your rapport with your camera guys. Thank you Sarah and your brushes Brock and Keenan.
I loved this video and I love how Sarah’s finished painting is different from the reference photo because mine never comes out like the reference. She shows that you can’t copy it exactly and that’s okay. Thanks Sarah and LMA you give me confidence to do animals which are very intimidating.💕💕🦋🦋
The production values are great. Having the darker lines on the pattern helps. I always keep in mind that they should be lighter, but for the first go at a painting it makes life easier. I dated a guy who was a videographer and he once told me: "The camera either loves you or hates you.". The camera loves you. When I see your tutorials, my mood always lifts because your sunny personality shines through.
thank you for the tutorial----I was nervous to do this one---can't believe how great my panda turned out! You guys are so funny--loved the story about Michael coming home to find a bunch of eyeless painted pets
I've been following a bunch of your tutorials and just finished this one. I loved it and I was surprised to see my panda turn out really nice, also I used a lot more pink and blue in mine which was fun. You're so much fun to follow along with and you and your husband's banter always makes me giggle!
The dark lines versus dotted lines are a great help for me. Panda bears are so cute but they can be agressive if they are irritated. But I still love them and all bears.
I love that you give us permission to explore and experiment. With this outlook I have very few failures. Nice to use my fan brush for something besides trees! ❤️
Wednesday nights have become my favorite! I look forward to your tutorials every week (although I have yet to start one of my own 😆). Thanks so much for your fun and educational videos! ❤️🧡💛💚💙💜
LOVED the tutorial, you all always make me laugh and enjoy myself so much :) as a side note please tell me where you got your sweater! I love it so much!
Omg!! I’ve been waiting for this one!! I love pandas !!! 🐼 I’ve been really enjoying your videos! Can’t wait for some of your watercolor paint collections to come back in stock!
Loved this tutorial!! I think it also serves as a jumping off point for other “black and white” subjects!! I’m thinking of doing an Orca Whale using some of these techniques!
With the whole blending thing I think it is the paper, because it is easy to blend on most cotton papers definitely not all some are actually harder but with Canson XL it is on the harder side to easily blend and you have to practice more or even use how that specific paper works to your advantage. It is my go to paper for when I want to paint wet on dry or get really cool blooming effects, but for a beginner or someone used to other papers I could see Canson XL being challenging to blend on and I would definitely recommend taking a sheet of it and practicing blending with a few different colours over and over until you get a feel for the paper.
I am realatively new to watercolor. I use Daniel Smith Tube paints. what color should I use instead of your honey brown? A yellow orche or burnt sienna?
Hi guys, you two always make me laugh. I've watched it twice now and by the way I love Martha ❤️ she's adorable. Thanks for the wonderful tutorial. Love and hugs xx
Hi Sarah...hugs for Arlo. Hope you're all staying safe during this "panda-demic" (groan....sorry, couldn't resist). Question: What is the difference between your Let's Make Art brushes and the Princeton Heritage brushes? Thanks to you, MIchael, Keenan, and crew for the fabulous tutorials!! xo
You do have dominant eye, and I too have a smaller eye. You guys make me laugh so much. Watching these are SO much fun. Love you guys so much. Hurray for Let’s make Art
Once again, LOVE all of it, thank you for pouring in to this and teaching us! Interesting fact...my son and daughter both had, pretty significant, one "big" eye and one "small" eye. We were concerned and asked the doctor. His explanation made sense. Both eye balls are the same size, but one eye sits farther back in the socket than the other eye, giving the illusion that it is smaller. So there you go...just thought I'd share 😉
I would like to see you mix the colors on the butcher tray. With the more recent videos, I can only see 1/2 of the paint tray and would like to see how Sarah picks up and dilutes the color. I like the dotted lines for shadows on the outline drawings.
Hi L! These colors are a part of the Dandelion Paint Co. liquid watercolor paint line. These can be found on our website: www.letsmakeart.com/products/dandelion-paint-co-15ml-watercolors The comparable Dr. PH Martin colors would be: Peacock/Iris Blue, Cherry Red, and Golden Brown.
I sooooooo want to try the watercolor box!!! 😢😢 I get too many monthly boxes right now though and I am currently trying to decide which ones to keep and those that I need to cancel. Who, oh why didn't I find LMA sooner?!?!? lol
@@LetsMakeArt I couldn't wait any longer. I signed up for the monthly watercolor box yesterday, and ordered the brushes and butcher tray. Can't wait tobreceive my supplies and get creating with you all! ❤️
Godless killing Machines! Oh Michael. You are hilarious! Bears aren't so scary a lot of the time. Didn't you get to see them when you lived in California? The first time I saw them I was in Yosemite. Black bears live here in Colorado s owe sometimes catch a glimpse of them.

You have a lot more talent than you give yourself credit for.

Thank you for the kind words Tracy it really means a lot.
The dotted lines are wonderful and so much easier to follow the structure of the painting, for me at least. This is gorgeous, thank you. 😍

Thanks for this. I am impressed with how mine turned out.
My eyes are definitely different from each other. Also, love how you break everything down into steps. Very helpful.

You'll get there. One day you will be wowing us with your creations!
I laughed when you said, "Don't stay in the lines." Frankly, I can't stay in the lines, so this was encouraging.
You've got this!

The Let's Make Art brushes have a slightly different tip. Snap back is great on both. They are a comparable brush in quality.
@@LetsMakeArt Thank you! Hope to order a few soon!
Learning so much! You are a great teacher!

Great to hear! We would love to see how yours turned out!

LOL “Godless killing machines” 😂🤣😂🤣🤣 That grabbed my funny bone at 11:00 pm when everyone was asleep!
So awesome

I would love to know this as well. Also I would love the dotted lines in the outlinea
Please do the dashes for shadows it helps
Can I have it?
You can totally paint along! We have outlines and kits available on our website. The link is in the video description.
Watch out for those godless killing machines!
I shouldn’t have started my 2010 vs 2020 Panda painting...
Love the lesson but not the talking with cameraman
Who's the dude? I'm here to learn, not hear chit chat that wastes my time.
Sarah's husband is one of our cameramen. Thank you for the feedback.
@@LetsMakeArt Well, I thought it was lovely. It made it very cosy to listen to as I painted. :)
Well i love hearing them talk :) it's so fun and relaxing while we learn how to paint Thank you Sara, Michael and keenan
