Just a note, since I worked in an industry that removed adhesives and transfer tapes from substrates, if you lightly warm the tape with your heat tool, then the tape will remove without picking up or tearing the paper, even with tapes that say they won't tear the paper, it's worked for me, so far. Lovely, lovely are your be beautiful paintings!!!!
Hi Louise havent been here for a while but am glad to be back. Love the pandas, Ive done them in charcoal but not paint as yet, you, as always make it look so easy..was hoping to see you do they eyes but guess only Patreons see that. Anyway, great job, keep them coming. Cheers Jenny from WA🤗🥰🙏
Living in the US I would say the same regarding Stonehenge paper. It just doesn’t hold up as well as Arches, Hahnemule , Saunders Waterford or Fabriano Artistico which also makes Kilimanjaro. It just is handy to be able to get to work without fussing too much. I recently had changed masking fluid after trying different brands and really liked Holbein ‘s brand. I use the Fineliner bottle with the Holbein and have left it for months on my wc paper, not that I recommend it but it didn’t discolor at all and lifted great. Lovely pandas!
One of my absolute favorite animals. Thank your for painting it. A big thank you to you for your painting, teaching, and detailed painting process on patreon. It helps so much to learn and improve. Please teach how to paint long haired fluffy white Persian cats. There are next to zero tutorials and I have been wanting to paint my white Personal cats for years.
gotta love those ears! actually both paintings are lovely. Thanks for the insights on the paper, i find several papers wonderful to paint on as long as i don't use tape, maskit or erasers, so its good to know ahead of time.
Lovely review and beautiful paintings as always. For sensitive papers, it is a good idea to blow your hairdryer over the washi tape for about 30 secs before peeling the tape off. It should remove more smoothly, and leave the paper undamaged.
It works to get any label you want off of glass jars, plastic bottles and old labels off of cardboard boxes and without leaving residue on most surfaces.
I do love Stonehenge paper. It is a great price for 100% cotton paper for newbies. I always read how many are afraid of wasting their "expensive" paper. I also love that it comes on a block and usually use it that way. Great review.
Lovely paintings. I’ve never used the white Stonehenge, only the black. I had the same issue with the paper being so soft and fragile that the tape nearly shredded the edges. Thank you for sharing your thoughts and experience.
I love watching you paint. Thank you for these tutorials. It helps if the tape is removed on an angle, not straight removal. The resist looks discoloured and maybe that was transferred to the paper?
Wow I just bought a pad of that paper today and happened upon this video. I've never tried Stonehenge before and bought a travel size for an upcoming trip. I hope I'll enjoy it as much as you did. I didn't get to feel it in the store but it seemed nice once I got home. Thanks!
I like how soft it is and how the water behaves with it, but yes, fragile. Whatever kind of tape I put around the edge of my block, it tears the paper, no matter how careful I am. Also pulling the paper off the block I have to be super super careful, or it will rip in dramatic ways ugh. I was doing something the other day that had you put a little piece of torn tape over a painted area for a mountain, and that tore right off too. So my mountain was all rough and jagged I guess. The water doesn't seem to flow well on any of these canson or other cheaper papers, so I've been using this for tiny things or practice things.
Super cute Pandas. I love all of your paintings and videos!😍I find Stonehenge Aqua Watercolor paper too fragile but ok to paint on. Thank you, Louise, for all your amazing work!
It is always wonderful to watch you paint. You make it look so easy. I'd love to see some morning glory vines or pumpkin/gourd vines or any kind of vines climbing if it appeals to you. I think I'll stick with Arches paper but I would like to get some Hanemuhle (sp?) at some point. Thank you! This paper company has the name and saying "Legion - We are paper" and the name Stonehenge. I can't help but think of the scripture in Mark chapter 5 where Jesus casts out the demons into swine. When He asked what the demons name was it answered Him "My name is Legion for we are many". Also Stonehenge is thought to have been some religious site or occultic place and today is often visited by pagans and self proclaimed witches among others. If they start naming new products Baal or baphomet I'm out!
Thank you! It would have been helpful to see the reference photos for the two paintings. Although, I do understand that this video was mainly a review of the paper.
I particularly didn’t like the subject matter but I did watch your video in it’s entirety and I appreciate your honest opinion about the paper often wondered about it thank you❤ The ending bloopers made me laugh they was great 👍
I have not even finished this tutorial and must add my two cents. I detest this paper. All of the things that happened to you happened to me. You did nothing wrong. This is NOT Arches grade of paper. It was very sad for me to try a paper that professes to be all the things the good quality papers are and fail all over the place. It did not glaze well either. I am using my small pad for testing and quick studies. Not wasting my time again. When you held it up at the beginning of the video I groaned… oh no!!! Lovely pandas though!!! What fun! Going to try one.

Lovely… watching how your first wash evolves into your final painting is such a delight to observe. Thank you.

I had the same experience with this paper. I use what I have left for practice. 😉
Same here Johanne. 💕
Love the pandas! Thank you!
For erasing on Stonehenge, I use the honey coloured translucent eraser which works well. It is a beautiful paper for pen and ink.
Thanks for the tip Kate.
Absolutely stunning you make it look so easy x
This just cements why I use Arches. It just is the best paper.
Yes it is Shelly. No 1. 💕
Beautiful! Your work is so… delicate, almost ethereal. Thank you!
I love your bloopers!!!! You are human! Haha!
Glad you like them. Yes I am. Thank you!

Great info on that paper. It's nice to a less expensive option for studies.

Yes, using a heat tool will allow easy removal of washi tape and even works for masking tape.

Thank you Louise for another fantastic video. Great video & beautiful paintings love them 👌😊
Thank you so much for your videos. I'm new to painting and your explanations of what, with what, why, how are first rate.
That's awesome! I hope you enjoy your journey.

Happy painting in your new studio!
Thank you Patty. Have a lovely weekend.

Thanks PK. That's what I think too. I'll use it for studies.
Your well deserved studio looks very nice. I was wondering about the amount of housework it takes to keep it bright and clean? 🇺🇸
Beautiful
Thank you Carol.
Hermoso. Gracias por todo lo que enseña y comparte 👋🇲🇽
Beautiful ,,👏

Interesting! I tried one pad of Legion Stonehenge. Couldn’t get the masking fluid off.
You are really amazing 😘💗

You don’t like panda bears????!!!!!
