  • The Osprey Pair, Andy & Lena are doing well as parents. They seem to lack experience, but are getting the hang of it!
    Hatches: 1st: 2/16/22 @ 9:24pm 2nd: 2/17/22 @ 2:02am 3rd: 2/19/22 @ 4:29pm
History of nest: This nesting platform has been used for many years prior to the cams being live-streamed. The landowner Lori named the osprey Andy & Lena. This year it seems we have a new pair of osprey, as they have a different schedule and are more diligent to the nest than the previous pair that had been at this nest for multiple years. To keep the names simple, we will continue to call them Andy & Lena, but they are really Andy & Lena II. In a few cases in the past, fish crows have taken chicks after they were a few days old. We hope to not have issues, as these chicks have been hatched about 2 months earlier than in previous seasons & this is a new and more diligent pair.

So in love 💕 Andy and Lena are a super silly couple of Osprey and their bobbleheads are lucky to have such determined parents. ❤️ They are the most entertaining pair of osprey to watch that's for sure! Thank you for giving us the window to view!!

A wonderful record of a pair of Ospreys becoming a family of 5. Thanks for creating this memory!

If there are few such eagles in Florida then it would be really advisable to get help. Maybe set up such a pool with water in it and fish for emergencies. Watching them starve is awesome. Protected animals are also fed or sheltered here in Germany in order to save them.

Hello, we love that you care for these birds as much as we do. It is stressful at times to watch the livestream. If we did assist with food, we would be attracting many predators into the area and it is not permitted by our state or federal government to feed wildlife. There are a lot of eagles, other ospreys, crows, & a lot more wildlife in the area that would stress out or prey upon the osprey chicks. Feedings do vary at almost every nest, and most nest experience a time of food scarcity. We will continue to monitor the nest, but at the time of this comment, the chicks are doing well. We just have to hope for more food to be brought in. :)

@@WindowToWildlife Thanks for the answer. Everyone is cheering and afraid that they don't have enough fish. But nature. It's just hard to bear when they don't make it. I am godmother of wild birds in Berlin NABU. Support them financially.

@@WindowToWildlife Do you have enough supporters in Florida? Not so much here in Berlin. Only for cats and dogs. Wild birds are of less interest. Unfortunately

@@c.k.9577 We do. :) We have a local rehab center that is amazing and the landowner is awesome as well. If there is legal cause (like fishing line) to resue the osprey, we can and will. Have a good system set up for that.

The nest is good, but I find it too much in the sun. Couldn't it have been built more hidden where trees are around for shade. It's the blazing sun up there.

@Catania Momma Italia I saw it that way too. But I was told that it was o.k. is and the size is sufficient. I don't know much about such nests. I only know smaller ones.

Trust the Ospreys! Typically they build their nest in the open on a platform or on a snag.
