      @@thatfitfriend I have been using an old pair of Reebok Crossfit Nano 7s which have been fine for most gym work but wearing out and not great for any runs over 400m at a time. Have looked at ON Cloud X, NOBULL Trainer + and Reebok Nano X3. I was concerned I needed something to let me run multiple 1km and give me grip and stability. Your review of the Nike Metcons made it clear that they were not running shoes.

    I have a wide foot in the midsole. Is there a shoe you'd recommend for that? With as much fuss as there is about cross trainers and wide feet, I just don't get why there isn't a really good wide foot option(s)

    • @thatfitfriend
      @thatfitfriend  ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Yeppppp you would think. These companies are missing a huge pop by sticking to the "norm".
      I'd look into models like the Nano X2, Nano 2.0, Nike Metcon 9, TriBase Reign 5, and Dropset Trainer 2. Those are all "okay" regarding midfoot width butttt I tread lightly in saying that because wide feet can interpret these models differently. That said, these would be good models to start exploring as you try to find shoes that have lasts that work for your feet!

      I've been loving the my Adidas Adizero Boston 12s! My heavier lifter friends tend to gravitate towards different HOKA models depending on how how they're running. IMO, hit a running store and try on some to see if they fit your feet well!

    What about doing HIIT in barefoot shoes, like Vivo?

    • @thatfitfriend
      @thatfitfriend  ปีที่แล้ว

      I regularly do HIIT-style work in barefoot shoes! Just make sure you build up to that type of training with this type of footwear. Can be brutal to acclimate to the high-impact contexts with barefoot shoes and HIIT at the beginning.

    1:34 bro, why i see more and more ppl in gym making deadlifts and squats completely barefoot? I mean not barefoot shoes , but bare feet..... i agree with your choice of reebok, being classical lifting shoe with hard sole and high heels....but what is rationale behind using no shoes? I saw in some yr videos you did same, or did it in vivo.... my heel bone hurted when i tried -))

    • @thatfitfriend
      @thatfitfriend  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      A lot of its preference, tbh! Plus, a lot of folks train in gyms where they can do that. For example, the smaller private gym I train at don't mind and oftentimes I'm both lazy and want more ground feel when training so I'll just stay barefoot depending on the workout.
      I've written some content on training barefoot, but long story short, if you like a zero-drop when training, want more ground feel/no stack height because you're barefoot, and want to build the feet passively then some barefoot training can be great to implement!
