Thanks for the insight!! Side note for peeps who struggle with ankle bone irritation… I tried on the metcon 5 and 6 today and the heel collar of the 5 rubbed up against my ankle bone BAD. I noticed they actually widened the heel collar dip in the 6, so it doesn’t rub up against the ankle bone as much and is way more comfortable.
I just returned mine because the bottom rubber on sides started to separating from the white base. This was after 30 days. Customer service sounded like this was common…
@@thatfitfriend it happens when you put consistently put pressure on the outer sides of shoe, so if you sit cross legged or if you are in a chair and cross your feet at the ankles etc or if your shoes rubs against something on the side. the black starts to separate from the white base. It’s not very fortified. Shoe is comfortable though! Not sure how they are going to fix this going forward.
Great Q - both can work great. Cloud will have a bias towards running whereas Free Metcon will be better for lifting. I'd go with the option that matches your weekly training best from a lifting:running ratio. If you're lifting more, go Free Metcon, vice versa!
Im looking for a shoe that is good for Overpronation and is a good looking nike. I like how these look and they are currently in the store but I'm not sure. They dont seem to have the React foam that I hear is great for that but they may be decent in general. Since Ive gone through most shoes without that extra support even if its just a little bit thats still okay for me.
Can you find the Free Metcon 5? The midsole is a little more dense in them which should feel better for this context. Otherwise, I'd give the 6 a try if you're considering Nike heavily
Awesome vid as usual Jake! Wish the durability was better otherwose I'd give these a chance (currently on a slip-on kick with trainers "Metcon Reacts") Have you bought the Reebok Nano Courts yet? I want to see if they are similar to the Nano X's (my favs) but lighter.
Thank you! I'm bummed, too, maybe this is a one-off shoe, though. DO NOT get them. I have a review coming on them and I am not a fan - feels like a half baked Nano NGL.
Hello. I watched your other video. And now I am torn between the two. 😅 Would you prefer this Nike Metcom or On x 3? which is more versatile for workout? Thank you so much.
I can’t seem to find the men’s all white anywhere. Do you think they are unisex and ordering up in women’s would be equivalent? Since your review is in the all white i wasn’t sure if you sized up in women’s or if they used to be available in all white in men’s sizing. Thank you!
When I bought they were using the same sizes on the buttons, so I’m fairly certain they’re unisex. If you’re buying from the women’s page for a lad, just convert accordingly and you should be set!
What are your thoughts about going on a run in these? I had the metcon 3s and anything cardio or running related I would always changed shoes or have running shoes on me. The metcon 3 s would hurt my feet when I ran but I loved them from lifting.
You can get away with doing some short stuff on these. Intervals and jogs under a mile are decent, but anything above can get a little dicey. Def more comfy than the old Metcon 3s tho
I just bought the Free Metcon 6 and am using my true size (Adidas). However, it seems that the toe area is narrower than I anticipated. Will it loosen or stretch out if I wear it often?
Hey Jake, I'm looking for a pair of shoes for my 14 year old daughter. She plays volleyball, so her workouts are focused on improving in her sport. She is doing a lot of squats and trap bar deadlifts, but she also does quite a bit of plyometrics (box/depth jumps) as well as sled pushes. Was looking at these until I saw this review. Have thought about Nano X4's...thoughts?
These could work and the Nano X4 would also be a great pick. The Dropset 3 may also be worth considering if you want a bit more toe box room! Free Metcon 6 = most pliable Dropset 3 = great for lifting and ground feedback when doing forefoot-dominant plyos Nano X4 = good all-arounder, but will run a bit more narrow through the midfoot
Does the shoe expand a little during training? usually i use 43 size but not its like a sock and 43 feels a little bit stiff in the midfoot - but 44 fits maybe a little bit wide in the whole foot area really unsure so i was askin me this if the shoe widended or expand while usage and training?
I have flat feet and I start to feel a lot of pain in the middle of my feet already after 15min of active training. Can you recommend similar shoes that don’t have this issue and fits for group training classes like hiit, body pump, step and etc? Thank you in advance (I do lifting in my socks usually)
I used basic running shoes for step aerobics, body pump - legs & back - barefoot and put back shoes for second part of training(upperbody, lounges)-which is a hustle. Gym only - socks. I basically need shoes for the classes and circuit training and happy to keep my gym session socks only.
Hi Jake, I am looking into getting the Free Metcon 6 or 5, and I currently have Free Metcon 4s. I like to do general lifting but nothing too heavy, HIIT, and some short runs. One issue I have with the 4 is my toe has started to create a hole in the upper toe box. Do you think the 5 or 6 has better upper toe box durability?
It can be! If you're newer to lifting then they should work, but as you get more serious with weights/running distances you'll likely want to find something a little more specific for comfort and performance reasons!
Hey, thanks for this. I got calluses from my asics shoes. I am leaning towards metcon-6 or cloud X4 for workouts. I lift regularly and do 5k as well. Any recommendations please? Do they go size up? Or true to your size?
Hi Jake, thanks for the video. Still questioning tho, do you think it's an upgrade going for free metcon 6 from free metcon 5? considering how good the free metcon 5 still is
Eh - upgrade will depend on what you're after. If you wanted a plusher midsole and better midfoot in the 5 then the 6 is an upgrade. If you LOVE the 5 then it won't be a real upgrade, imo. If you're still into the 5, I'd stock up on them and look for deals!

I felt the back of the shoe came up too high on the back of my ankle, constantly rubbing and pressing on my Achilles. Smh.
The higher boot can do that for some foot anatomies. You'll want something more low-profile like the Adi Rapidmove or Nike Flex Control
