  • NB. The Hunt. We chase after a Human with a pack of bloodhounds bred and trained for this purpose. Riding to bloodhounds is a recognised equestrian/hound sport in its own right and is distinct in character from all other forms of hunting.
Novice rider or professional, young or old, the traditional sport of riding to bloodhounds is a great way to spend time with your horse. There will be the opportunity to jump natural obstacles like hedges and ditches, hunt jumps or to follow a non-jumping route if you prefer.

He is herd leader over Farouk who is a pure-bred Arabian horse, Farouk is 7 years old and loves galloping and is a good endurance horse. He is the Grandson of the famous Marwan Al Shaqab and then there is Princess Bella a Two-year-old pure-bred Andalusian filly her speciality is bucking and jumping for joy.

It's amazing how you're the one riding the "spooky Arabian", yet you are not banging into people or jumping in front of people. As an Arabian owner / breeder/ shower / trainer of 45 yrs, I can tell you that, a well- schooled horse and rider would not have this problem. I would have left the ride immediately or not gone at all. Too many amateurs.... I often ride alone or with 1 trusted, senseable friend. The AHA is the only association that allows children under 18 to show Arabian Stallions. Largely in part due to the superb training both receive.
Often in mixed classes with all sexes. The well- bred ones are smart, wonderful family horses and can continue to be ridden after years of breeding. Never confuse Spirit with Spook. Any horse will spook if the rider isn't confident or if something frightens them. It's not just Arabians. I've pleasure rode Stallions and geldings together without incident.

You handled it like a champ 🏆... Which is just one of a hundred reasons why I watch your channel. In the previous video i commented on my concern that the person riding the big chestnut horse is a kicker but the owner did not initially put a red ribbon in the horses tail, and she kept riding past the hunt master, so she was given the name. Cheeky charger .
Then, with plenty of space for riders to the left of Tara, this cheeky crazy person comes barreling up on Tara's left and scrapes all along Tara's left side -- offers no apology and acts as if nothing happened. ! I mentioned in my comment my concern that maybe the collision was intentional on cheeky chargers part. !
I had thought to delete this but could not do it because so many were acting so weird !
Then this video where Tara really gets slammed into very hard into her right leg -- note : this happened right after Farouk had a fast gallop and passed everyone except the hunt master -- and as Tara stopped THERE was all the room in the world on her right side, YET THIS GIRL LOOKED TO ME TO HAVE ' INTENTIONALLY ' SLAMMED INTO TARA'S RIGHT LEG AND FAROUK'S RIGHT SIDE -- AND AGAIN THE HUNT MASTER DID NOTHING !
I really think it would be proper to file a formal complaint about this hunt with the proper group higher - ups !

Tara...I hope you and Farouk do not have any long term complications from this "hit" with no immediate apology or reprimand.
Ok. I'm going to add my two cents worth. I think it would be appropriate and responsible for you to send this video and maybe the other with Cheeky Charger to the one (s) in charge of this event. It's almost looking like a couple "mean girls" might be jealous of your beautiful and "fast as the wind" steed - and also your ability to ride and control him so well. I hope that's not the case and it's just that they are not able to control their unsafe horses.
At the least they should be disqualified from future participation because of their poor horsemanship and not obeying the rules regarding staying back if they're riding a "red ribbon". Someone else or their horse could eventually be seriously injured if this continues to be allowed. Also, the lady who does so well riding side saddle, had she received such a blow to her right, looks like it would have sent her flying into left field!There...that's said.
Thankful it wasn't worse for you and Farouk...look forward to an update.
My apology if I have overstepped with my comment.

Wow! Well, I have to say that, just based on the videos of yours that I’ve watched, it sure seems that the riders on the “fun” rides have better manners and better behaved horses than those who participated in these more formal hunts. Perhaps the landscape allows for more full out galloping, and that may be the problem for some?? Or does it attract a different kind of horse and rider?? I surely don’t know. The galloping looked fun though. I sure hope you will mend quickly, Tara. And I hope Farouk wasn’t hurt. That was an awful hit. And I understand that it wasn’t on purpose, but sure seems an indication of someone who has trouble stopping their horse and should know to begin the stopping process far sooner than was done. I didn’t see an apology, but perhaps I missed it. And no real attempt to be sure you were ok…even after you said you weren’t. Unreal. With that said, I thoroughly enjoyed watching, as always. I was in shock, but when nothing was said except for one gal asking you if you were okay (love that you said "NO."). I didn't realize it was "cheeky charger" (?)- just seeing it I screamed! Obviously it hurt you, and Farouk was probably sore too. I'm surprised there was not someone from the hunt oranizers call you (and make a report etc.).
It certainly was amazing to catch it on video, this should not have been ignored. It could easily have been worse, but Farouk was stolid, and you are a most excellent rider. I won't forget it, quite a shock! Hope you are okay. As always a stellar video!

You and Farouk rammed by another horse and rider was quite shocking!! 😱😱😱 I sincerely hope the person in charge of the event was informed of the incident and took appropriate steps following up with both riders. First aid (ice pack) and official concern should have been given by the club to Tara and Farouk at the event when everyone returned to their horse boxes. The other rider and mount should have been checked and asked to give an account of what happened. At the very least, the event coordinator should inform the rider (who ran into Tara and Farouk) the club’s rules concerning hunt safety practices, proper riding etiquette, and compliance for continued participation in future events. All major sports inform their athletes verbally and in writing on these issues. I’m sure hunt clubs, cycling clubs, and other Pleasure sport groups do the same with their memberships.
I was relieved to see other riders were concerned for you and Farouk. Hope someone brought you a bag of ice to wrap against your leg! 😢😢😢😢😢

I have not seen a woman riding side saddle, outside of ring demonstrations, for many years! And not only is she apparently very good at it, she also appears very comfortable with it (not quite the same thing). And, more importantly, so is her horse! Not all horses are comfortable with the change of balance a side saddle can introduce.

    • @larinvermont3271
      @larinvermont3271 2 ปีที่แล้ว +15

I am writing this separately, because it is bluntly negative.
The more of your hunt videos I watch, the less impressed I am with some of your fellow participants. I question if some of the other riders are in full control of their mounts, and if they are even fully paying attention to what they are doing!
I am very glad you were not seriously injured. If the hit-and-run horse had been a bit bigger, or hit you at a less oblique angle, you could have been unseated or, even worse, Farouk could have been knocked off his feet and landed with you underneath him! It was't in camera sight, and the collision happened too quick, but I would guess while you were keeping your seat, Farouk was doing a fancy shuffle to stay on all fours! I've had a horse knocked over from underneath me in a chase, and witnessed other riders' collisions, and it can end in very serious injuries.
There are times I've seen more coordination and better behavior in a rugby scrum than this hunt shows.

I lived in Melbourne Australia when I was a teenager, my first hunt at the beautiful Melbourne Hunt Club had me anxious beyond belief once the hounds came out and were all excited to get going , it truly was a sight to see. I went on many more after that first incredible day, first on my part Arab gelding then later on my purebred mare. Arabians are such trustworthy and sturdy mounts, despite being pretty and refined they certainly can hold their own, even hunting. I agree that if you are not in full control of your horse at all times you should not be out doing something that, although fun, can be incredibly dangerous when things go wrong. Imagine if she’d run through the hounds, she definitely would have really gotten a good reprimand indeed. Hope you guys were both ok. Was something bothering your horse that day, I noticed he was doing a lot of head shaking and reefing his head forward when at slower paces and standing. Apart from the inconsiderable behaviour shown towards you it looked amazing and brought back lovely memories for me. Thanks for indulging me with this. 😊

I just don't understand the riders and horses (checky charger and the bay) banging into you! I thought riders on a hunt ride would be more experienced and polite. I wonder if they never allow their horses to socialize with others in a herd the way you do. I think it is unusual to see horses just run into each other. Their reflexes to avoid obstacles is pretty darn good. Anyway, I knew it was bad bc you NEVER complain and you were saying how much you hurt.

Woops...reminds me of when I go trail riding. People that think they can ride and can't control their horses and cut you off or bang into you which could end up in a train wreck. Farouk looked a bit excitable on that ride. He does like to be at the front. He was doing a bit of head tossing. Those grey horses at the front at the start were super the way they came from galloping then back to a walk on a loose rein. Can't say the same about the one that bashed into you. Hope you're ok. I saw something like that on a trail ride but the rider ended up tearing her hamstring after having a crash with another horse. We need to remember that nothing about getting on a horse is really that safe especially in such a big group going at a cracking pace. We also need to remember accidents can happen at any time around horses. They're unpredictable animals and I'm sure what happened wasn't intentional. I do hope she did apologised though and we just couldn't hear it.

Sadly, a few will always ruin things for the many that do "play by the rules" and just want to enjoy something no matter what it is. I'm baffled at both women's behaviors before and after running into you and Farouk. Neither of them cared one bit about running into you two, the second (I'll be nice here) "lady" acknowledged it, but she still couldn't care less if you or Farouk were hurt, you even said "NO" as she blew past you asking. What happened to stopping and checking on someone when there is an accident and actually giving a damn?! I hope you heal quickly (being pushed by horse standing can do major damage , but a horse running into you at high speed can be detrimental) and that Farouk wasn't injured at all. Bless him, he's so sweet and gentle...polar opposites of the horses that bashed into him🥰🥰🥰
