People...you're missing the point. Let me rephrase it; The horse is probably thinking; 'Oh, that's not fair. What other kind of (fast) horse is that?" (the motorcycle.)
When I was 12, I got a Palomino horse for my birthday. My neighbor (who was 5 miles away) sold him to me for $100. Why so cheap? We lived out in the country and every time I got on him, with no prompt, he would go for a run down those long dirt roads as fast as he could to knock me off. When that didn't work, he would run into the woods through the brush and low hanging trees to knock me off. Finally, I decide to turn his nose to me knee with the reigns when he started to run fast and buck me. It stopped him, but then he would just lay down and roll over with me still on top. Ever been trapped under a horse for several minutes? You would let go too! I chased that horse everywhere for miles on foot and by car and always had to walk him home. So for obvious reasons, I named him "Hard Times." I quickly learned why he was just $100. In retrospect, I realized the guy would have probably just given him to me. Eventually, I realized I had to make this horse like me instead of trying to be his master. I fed it carrots and sugar cubes and brushed him constantly and pampered that horse until it loved me. Then I decided to ditch the sadle and just ride him bare-back with only the reigns - and the soft ones. Then and only then was I able to ride him, and WHAT AN AMAZING HORSE HE BECAME. I think of him often.
Whoa thats some hard work. I've also had a horse. He got a light brown hair and 3 beautiful stripes on his back. It took me a long time to tame him.. I had to kill some cows to get the saddle and right click multiple time tame him, but his a good horse.
@@notthebestequestrian5273 Horses are skittish by nature. If the biker didn't scare it, the traffic would've. Especially considering the horse was already in a state of panic to begin with.
They said "hurt", so you replying to this comment with that doesn't make any sense. And OH NO THE HORSEY GOT BAMBOOZLED, can't really compare that to getting injured.
He was scared. Bike scared him more, but I would have done the same, rather than loose sight and hope for the best. Horses are usually very easily scared. Just a sudden move, a skateboard an ☔( can't spell it in English) , the horse jumps sideways and run for life... If the rider falls off, the horse in panic, can get hurt. So I gladly would have taken the ride from the scooter guy. He was so kind to do so. I would also have helped, had I been him. People doesn't realize how " jumpy " many horses are, so it would be nice if people slowed down just in case, when they came up behind a horse on ski, scooters, bikes, tractors, skateboards, ambrillas☔, plastic bags even... Because every horse out in the streets or in nature with someone riding it, is traffic safe. A skilled rider can usually stop it faster, but accidents can happen to the best, even if it didn't happen for years. Rude comments in the comment section says more about the person writing it. That's all I have to say!
If his mistress would have wanted him to canter Walter probably would have refused, lol.... If he had been scared he would have done a 180 and run the other way. He certainly was having fun at his owner's expense--that's the way ponies are!
I was driving home at 50mph on a UK B road when a huge Shire horse ran out from a side road and I had to stop as it ran in front of me. Missed that horse by millimetres. Any closer and it would have ended up in my lap. Frightening.
The scooter was on the right path the whole time. Your "sidewalks" were actually cycle paths which scooters are allowed to go on. Some of them are dual lane, i.e. they are for traveling in both directions. The only problem there might have been was that he went too fast, which I would call acceptable under the circumstances, as he was trying to protect the horse from any traffic and the traffic from the horse.

WoW, this just brought back a memory! For some crazy reason, my father, who was a complete monster, decided to remove my Quarter Horse out of the single trailer, beside a highway, in POURING sheets of rain! I remember being ON her, in a saddle that was way too big for me, and while he DROVE back to the horse ranch, I rode her across an extremely busy bridge which was made of steel grates for 3-4 lengths across the river. She stayed on the very narrow sidewalk, and exactly like this horse, travelled at high speed with me on top of her, both of us cloaked in frightening rain gear, flapping against freezing rain. We had to ride like this for about 2 miles, back to the stable, along a highway. I was ten or eleven years old, and didn't have a fear in the world. Now, that I remember this, we must have been surrounded by some huge angels! Can you imagine ???!!!!

Good intent, poor handling. Chasing a horse only frightens him, the sound of the motor even more so, which causes the horse to keep running, running in fear mode, in blind flight, in danger of cars or hitting a tree. The horse could have been quickly stopped NOT by chasing, but by blocking the horse's path of travel up ahead, which the horse would see and slow down, stopping him, FAR sooner than this very dangerous chase.. Learn how horses think, how they perceive danger, how they respond. (You can see the assessment of this case at YT channel called Think Like A Horse.). I have no affiliation with that channel, but the assessment is excellent and educational.
NeutralGenericUser he tried but that was not the right thing to too bc you can tell that the horse is scared and he made to horse run away for a longer time if the lady would have just stayed where she was then the horse probably would have come back bc it’s not like it’s gonna run forever I have my own horse I know what to do in these types of situations and this is what not to do
CA Catr the owner was with the dude, she should have some knowledge on how to handle it. I did watch it on mute but the horse didn’t seem like it’s in extreme fear. He should be bomb proofed before heading on the streets so noises shouldn’t scare him. I’m sure he’s just a horse that escaped and started running. Like when you fall off in an arena, some horses just keep running and running because no one is there to stop him. Sure they could’ve handled it better but I think you’re over exaggerating
Jennifer Bannink I don’t think I was exaggerating at all that could have been a horse in training he might be a green horse you never know but still when you are chasing a horse that is going to scare it especially on a vehicle that makes a loud noise like that
CA Catr . They guy was keeping a good distance and only when he saw a chance to block the horse his path he came close. As for the fear, the owner was constantly calling him with a reassuring voice and so did the driver.... Secondly...how on earth could she have been with the horse so fast if it wasn’t for this guy to take her there? She is the one the horse knows....
I was working at a stable in the german Village where I lived. One of the horses was smart enough to Open the inclosur with almost 20 horses inside. Nearly all the horses ran with it troughout the Village and it toke us an entire day to catch them all. We were scared to death for them and the damage They might do. Luckily They stopped at the parking Lot of a huge grocery Store on the other Side of the Village. No harm done. Plus the people at the Store were amused, especially the children.

Stop throwing shit at them. The man clearly was not a horse person and did what he thought was the best thing. The woman was probably terrified: when your horse is in such a dangerous situation, you do the first thing you can think of. They had only a few seconds to think about what to do, and everyone was okay at the end. Don't tell me you have never made mistakes when you were in an emergency situation.

In clarification to non-Dutch viewers: This incident was taking place in the Netherlands. This can be derived from the language and from the presence of all the cycle lanes. The red roads you see next to the main road are cycle lanes, some of which are bi-directional. Scooters are allowed to go on cycle lanes here. The driver on the scooter may have been speeding, but it was for a very good reason : to protect the horse from any traffic and the traffic from the horse. His driving also did not endanger any person.

All these horrible know-it-all equestrians in this section are giving the community such a bad name. No wonder people think we're stuck up pricks and absolutely insane. This guy is a hero, and had some serious balls and generosity to help out this woman and her runaway horse. He didn't know that the scooter could spook the horse further, he was only trying to help with whatever knowledge he had. He's not a horsey person and that's alright. Stop giving the guy fucking shit because your all superior horse knowledge knows better makes you feel better about yourself, criticizing this man. He tried his best, and did a damn good job trying. Such terrible people in this comments section. All I have to say is thank you so much for helping this woman out, the horse is okay, and so are you and the rider, alls well that ends well!
Agreed. Even if it did spook the horse, that woman might've never seen that horse again (alive anyway) without that man's help. And if there should be any 'omg you spooked the horse' blame, it should go to the rider, who is a horse person, who still agreed to be helped. I'm not saying she should be blamed, she did the only thing she could think of (and probably the right thing), but if there is SOMEONE to blame, it's her. The guy was just an amazingly helpful person and the world would be wonderful if we were all more like him.
Thank you! Yes the horse spooking was the woman's responsibility, she should know how to work with her horse, especially one prone to spooking. But sometimes accidents happen. At the end of the day if something happened, a car accident, the horse kicked someone, she'd have been liable, when you take a horse onto the road you're under the legal responsibility that you can control him. So sad that some Equestrians are so nasty, it put me off keeping horses for the longest time, because if you keep horses in any other way, use bits etc you can get the nastiest people to come after you, even when you make rookie or beginner mistakes. It's a toxic community and it's such a shame. I promise you not all horse owners are like this, it's the few bad apples that spoil the bunch. Hell the other day my Thoroughbred figured out how to open two layers of gates, including one with a twist lock. Escaped onto the highway for 30 minutes. Everything was secure as it's always been for years, I wasn't even there but if something had happened it would be my fault and my responsibility. It was a total accident but an accident means nothing if it gets someone killed. (Everyone was fine, and he's in a new padlocked field the little shit can't escape from haha)
The message your comment sends, is that chasing a horse is an answer, when it made the situation much worse. The cyclist with the good intent could have helped for safety, if the rider had told him how to help properly. Condemning information on how to stop a horse vs how not to chase, doesn't offer readers any understanding of horses. Chasing causes horses fear, to run. The cyclist was not the problem, the rider didn't tell the cyclist how to help, where to take the rider up ahead to block the horse's path, and how to pass the horse from a wide distance. The cycle was way too close to the horse and never passed. They created an escalated situation, making it worse, when they could have quickly stopped the horse much earlier. Comments like mine are to say, chasing is never the way to catch a horse, it only causes fear and the horse to run. There's a better way when we understand how horses think and why they move. Peace and wisdom, chasing isn't either one with a prey animal.
Julia Martinez It might be the only way to get to the place that they wanted to get too. You did a fantastic job when you helped the lady. Probably the horse got scared and she fell off. And a scared horse doesn’t reason, it just run. Its in their nature to do that. So what you did was really risky, but it might Also have saved a lot of lives! All cred to you! ❤️
As a motorists I'd be scared if I saw a spooked horse on the road. Such large creatures can do alot of damage and like you've said, put lives in danger! That scooter rider did well to keep pace with the horse while trying not to spook it more than it already was. I wouldn't have been able to help in my car as all those pathways the horse took are too narrow, It would have ditched me so easily.
You were an angel to this owner. I cannot imgane what was going on through their head. They must of been so worried that their horse was laying motionless in someone else's wind shield.
“Laying motionless”, come on now that creature is at least 1300 lbs. it would’ve walked away from the hit but I guarantee the driver wouldn’t have 😵💫 bahahah! But no in all seriousness it’s good that went well and no one, horse included, got hurt

Walter booked it! Hair blowing in the wind😂😂😂!! Bless her heart for trying to run after him and good job to the friendly stranger that gave her a fighting chance to catch him.
That horse was out for a run. He was having a good time. The scooter wasn't "scaring" him. Whoever says that is a stupid person. The horse was in run mode way before they caught up to him, and wouldn't stop because he was having fun.
Unknowingly, the cyclist helped the horse to run in fear, to run and run, in a dangerous urban setting that could have killed the horse. The cyclist's intent was good, but chasing is not the way to catch a fleeing horse. Quickly getting ahead of the horse and blocking his path will cause the horse to slow and stop. Never chase a horse, it only frightens the horse and makes them run, to exhaustion or a heart attack, in this case, exhaustion. It was very dangerous for the horse, they handled it poorly, passing up many opportunities to get ahead of the horse to block him up ahead.
@@cacatr4495 I agree but if you block a horse it can't see that well in front of him/her, and the horse will run into you and you'll get hurt or the horse, maybe even both
This horse could have easily been killed by the poor way this was handled. You all need to learn to think like a horse, so you can be of actual help, instead of chasing them. Chasing them only makes them run in fear. They are prey animals, fearful animals given to flight. Learn.
UnhappyHacker In my country (Germany) more cases of bystanders who whatch but dont help have been reported. So yeah they chased it but without him it surely would have hit a car. Sometimes anything is better than nothing...
Marvin's Life Channel The horse-rider should have known how to catch a horse. Amazingly, didn't. This story could have resulted in the horse's death, running into a car or getting hit by a car or blindly running into a tree, slipping and falling, BECAUSE THEY CHASED IT. Chasing isn't the way. The rider should have known enough to tell the cyclist to quickly pass the horse at a WIDE distance, to get way ahead of it and stop in the path of the horse. This is called "the drive line" of the horse, it's path of travel. The cyclist would have actually helped in that case, by getting the rider to the block point. They didn't do that. They chased and chased, missing many opportunities to get ahead of the horse, actually worsening the situation AND the danger in MANY things they did. It's amazing and fortunate that the horse wasn't killed. IF they had gotten ahead and blocked the horse's drive line, the horse would have seen it and slowed down and stopped, MUCH SOONER, minimizing the danger and high risk. Their intent was good, but the horse-rider's knowledge was extremely lacking to where it could have killed the horse. Before someone goes to ride a horse in the city, they have to know many things, and the horse has to be desensitized to cars and scary urban issues. Neither of those had been done. The rider was beyond their level of knowledge and skill, and shouldn't have been riding in an urban environment. Chasing is never the answer, it worsens the problem. One must get ahead and block the horse's path of travel. Please learn this, so situations like this can be brought to a QUICK, safe resolution, NOT chasing that scares a horse and causes it to run. Chasing only makes it WORSE.

How long ago was that?
Thanks for the cool story. I feel like that could be a short kids novel or picture book 😆
Then I woke up and realized it was a dream
Great story.
Whoa thats some hard work. I've also had a horse. He got a light brown hair and 3 beautiful stripes on his back. It took me a long time to tame him.. I had to kill some cows to get the saddle and right click multiple time tame him, but his a good horse.
That was AMAZING!! Haha. So so glad nobody was hurt and the horse and rider safe and sound. That biker is an angel.
I have to inform you that, they were scaring the horse. If they hadn’t it would have stopped and they could have grabbed the reins with no problem...
@@notthebestequestrian5273 Horses are skittish by nature. If the biker didn't scare it, the traffic would've. Especially considering the horse was already in a state of panic to begin with.

Imagine being the car going in the opposite direction seeing a horse and a scooter on opposite side walks!
@Streamer LX4 This was in the Netherlands, not the UK. This was obvious from both the cycle lanes and the language.

Glad that you’re ok! That’s an incredible story. Sounds like something I’d wanna read in a book.

You are a really good person. Thank you.
Luckily They stopped at the parking Lot of a huge grocery Store on the other Side of the Village. No harm done. Plus the people at the Store were amused, especially the children.

The red roads you see next to the main road are cycle lanes, some of which are bi-directional. Scooters are allowed to go on cycle lanes here.

Purplepoppyanimator the woman shouldn’t be riding in the street anyways.

Nice. Glad you could help out.
CA Catr I totally agree with you
@@cacatr4495 I agree but if you block a horse it can't see that well in front of him/her, and the horse will run into you and you'll get hurt or the horse, maybe even both
CA Catr have you ever been trampled by a horse? Besides you can run in front of it but it can still dodge to the side
Walter is saying "damn, if I could only outrun this scooter, I'd be free of her!". He probably just got tired of running and gave up.

Wow! That was a roller coaster. I'm glad lovely Walter is safe. What a kind chap.
We need more people like this
no, we need more educated people who can help instead of worsening the situation.
This horse could have easily been killed by the poor way this was handled. You all need to learn to think like a horse, so you can be of actual help, instead of chasing them. Chasing them only makes them run in fear. They are prey animals, fearful animals given to flight. Learn.
UnhappyHacker
Indeed.
UnhappyHacker In my country (Germany) more cases of bystanders who whatch but dont help have been reported. So yeah they chased it but without him it surely would have hit a car.

Marvin's Life Channel
The horse-rider should have known how to catch a horse.
Such a beautifull horse
