  • NBA fans have come to know Kawhi Leonard as a transcendent two-way talent - a perennial All-Star, two-time champion, two-time Finals MVP, and the owner of the best regular season winning percentage of any player in league history. But behind one of the best players in the NBA, is a quiet, lightly recruited star who very few people saw coming.

    I do not understand those folks who say that Kawhi won the ring with Raptors because GSW were devastated by injuries. And they so easily forgot that Zaza injured Kawhi and that was the main reason why they got through Spurs that year. Besides, injuries are part of sport and it is pathetic to use injuries to justify team's failures.

    • @bri12345ification
      @bri12345ification 3 ปีที่แล้ว +11

      When people say that just remind them that the championship is more than a finals series, going 7 with the Sixers and coming back down 2-0 against the team with the best record was enough to justify the ring plus the fact that those same people were all confident and shit that it'll be sweep for GSW fully aware that KD is out and now making excuses when they were initially wrong just makes them look plain stupid. If it was the Bucks or the Sixers winning the finals they probably wouldn't be saying shit

    • @doubletakebroom2577
      @doubletakebroom2577 3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    • @181cameron
      @181cameron 3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      All those people are saying is that the GSW management aren't competent enough to build a deep roster. As a Raps (and basketball) fan, there's no doubt that the "superstars" on the Warriors were pound for pound better than those on the Raptors (who had 1). BUT, when 2 of theirs go down, they got these also-rans who couldn't hack it against a solid, actual team.

    • @chrisb8655
      @chrisb8655 3 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      You're exactly right. If Leonard had not gotten injured, the Spurs would've beaten the Warriors in that series.

    • @jatinkulkarni2428
      @jatinkulkarni2428 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      It's not that he won against a GSW team with injuries that people are annoyed at. It's that he suddenly shifted to being the "best player on the planet" status. He was great with the Raps and was that missing piece for Toronto along with Lebron no longer being in the East to get them the chip. But it's not like the Raptors fell off the map once he left, they are still the 2 seed in the East and have a good chance to make it to the finals without him. The image of Harden's stats against the Warriors and being labeled a choker vs. Kawhi's stats (that were worse) labeled as a GOAT proves my point.

This man is a legend but most importantly, he's a man that every male should inspire to himself to carry himself like. Kawhi doesn't let the media control him. It does control LeBron, "Me washed king?" KD, "Sellout" Harden, "...That takes no skill at all" Giannis "I want someone that will pass me the ball...Kemba" Embiid, "I don't give a damn about no process" Steph and wife drama, Kyrie and the list goes on. The media actually f*ed up when no one took Kawhi's side during his injury. Every outlet accused him and he wouldn't talk so they decided to destroy him. When he got traded to the Toronto. They laughed at him. Bleacher, ESPN ranked him 13 and 12th respectively. Some ranked him in the top 10. Aside from round 1, the media didn't favour Toronto throughout the playoffs. Despite GSW being broken they still didn't give Toronto a chance. They all had to shut up after that. They all wanted him to do their will by forming a big three only for him to blind side everyone of them. He told all three teams to STFU only for two to keep leaking it to the media. Only Jason Whitlock on Speak for yourself said Kawhi will never do that. Skip was on the fence he couldn't make up his mind. Max Kellerman only said if he goes to the clippers he's winning that championship.
    Basically, the media doesn't control Kawhi and that will be a problem for the league cos no matter who they endorse or try to make the face of the league they will have to go through Kawhi. What use will they be when Kawhi, PG, Clippers win at least 7 rings this decade only for them no to say a word to the media?.

      @@fk4410 MJ won his first ring at 30. MJ's competitions slowed down at that point. Bird, Magic, Isiah.. Kawhi's competition is slowing down they are closer to retirement than he is. I bet when MJ won his first they never thought he will 3peat let alone do it twice. While MJ loved baseball. Kawhi loves football but he can't take such a break MJ did. Which gives him the ability to actually win more rings for LAC than MJ did for the Bulls. That being said, it's all speculation. I wish this greatness happens to Kawhi but the other players aren't morons. However, what I do know is if Kawhi and Clippers are able to go to 5 finals. They are at least 3peating.

    The reason why the Spurs legacy worked in a small market was because you had 3 star players (Including Tim Duncan born in US Virgin Island) who were essentially born outside of the US and put their egos aside wanted to win rather than playing in a big market city, as a result it worked. Whereas, Kawhi is an American born player from California so he has the desire to play for a big market team, let alone a city where he was born in Los Angeles. I wish Kawhi had stayed in SA and would have loved to see the Spurs make another run with Kawhi, but in the current NBA, it is very unlikely that an American born player will play in a small market team and have loyalty.

One constructive comment: if you show Kawhi's Zaza induced injury and imply it allowed KD and the Ws to win it then you at least gotta take 5 seconds to mention that KD was injured in that last Finals. It's ok, you do you, boo. ;)
