I'm looking at a 2010 Mustang GT/CS, but I'm not letting go of the Z, which has been my reliable daily driver for 10 years. Reliability, means a lot to me, and that's what I'm researching w Mustang GT's. It's funny, you got married and got rid of the 350z, and I got divorced and got and got a 300zx.
Driving a 03 350z daily and driving my friends mustang gt 5.0 this is accurate. The Z can be a lil stiff but super sharp and responsive on the turns, but the mustang has the low end power and torque and feel way more comfortable in longer drives. Perhaps the best of both worlds would be a Mustang Boss 302 Laguna Seca?
Just a regular Boss 302, Seca cars are extremely uncommon and are track focused machines. The regular Boss 302 is probably the best S197 they ever made.
I have both. A 06 350 z touring 6m and a 2011 mustang gt 5.0 6m. Good review. Quick things to add. Mustang gets 31 mpg, z gets 25 highway. Stock mustang is faster than a built z.I've replaced two transmissions in mustang. One clutch in z. Z has 233,000 miles and mustang has 155,000 miles. Owned both since new pretty much. Z is not good for people 6'3 200lbs after a hour of driving. Balls hurt, legs cramped. Seats are too narrow. Not enough leg room. Cant recline seat. Is heavy for what it is. Two totally different cars like you said. The Z needs a LS swap and it would be the ultimate car. The daytona blue 350z gets a lot more attention than my competition white 5.0. but that 5.0 will rip that Vq to shreds and has the potential to make tons more power. Top of the food chain right now and has been 13 years. Too bad that coyote won't fit in the z... CUZ THAT WOULD BE SICK
and the best part is you liked knowing your 350z is not going to spend most of its life being fixed, unlike your Fixed or Repaired Daily. It has a permanent check engine light known as a FORD emblem.
Would you recommend saving up to buy a premium GT [vs base] given that it has so many good features (Track apps, MyColor, Reverse camera, Nav system, etc.)?
You have a very good perspective on things but I’d have to say if you wanna daily driver but the feel of a 350z than that’s why I got the g35 coupe because overall it’s nicer than the 350z.
@Junior Pintor Comes down to personal preference and I drove a 350z and can tell you inside and out the G35 Coupe is much nicer and more updated with the screen in the G35 Coupe than the 350z.
So overall what car will last longer and be a tougher car? I’ve heard of zs going to high miles but I have a friend who has a 3v turbo mustang and it’s got 200k miles still running strong. I currently have an 07 gt with 51k miles and I was going to sell to get a 08 350z with 57k miles and suspension exhaust and wheels but it’s a hard choice. I’m stuck in my decision
That all depends on how well you maintain the car, that's with any car! Any car can be reliable if you maintain it properly. I have a '08 350z (146k) myself and the only thing I've had a problem with is the CSC (slave cylinder) went out. You have to drop the transmission to replace it and it's expensive. It's best to just go ahead and get a CSC elimination kit. The HR is WAY better than the DE, but the DE parts are cheaper than the HR. I got wheels (staggered), springs, and cold air intake on my car and it handles pretty good with good power, you definitely can get side-ways with ease. I can't beat Mustangs or Camaros in a straight line but I can keep up with them. Also, bolt-ons respond way better on the Mustang than a 350z.
I have an 04 z with 186 k miles and only did a timing chain and radiator for major stuff. Also a clutch. Other than that just basic maintenance and it’s been good

Just smoked a 350z bad in my stock 2015 mustang gt premium he definitely had exhaust,headers, intake maybe some more stuff not sure I tried to pull over and talk to him but he had his girlfriend with him so he probably was a little embarrassed. How it started I was getting gas I heard him ripping by while I was inside he hurried up turned around got gas at the same pump as me just the other side. So I finished filling up go to jump in to pull out he hurried up jumped in his car and pull out behind me flying so I put it in sport + mode said let's do it so as he was tail gating I just stomped through 2 and 3 pull away pretty far here he comes again flying up behind me. Well there was a 2 lane road coming up so I let him get beside me gave him a little head start then I stomped on it through 3 and 4 keep in mind it's icy out so my ass end whipped out a bit but this is my 5th mustang 8th sports car altogether so nothing to worry about anyway I catch him easily pull beside him then let him go because I had my fun and showed him what car was boss. Anyway I thought that was the end of that but then he slows down acting like he wants another go or humiliation well oblige him but this time it's a single lane with a passing lane ahead so I let him get on it I immediately stomped my pedal to the ground ended up passing him in the passing lane putting up the deuces and a thumbs up for him trying. I later turned on to a different road he went his way but he beeped giving me a thumps up. Wish I could have talked to him to see atleast what all he had done because I'm bone stock for now until it goes to my buddies custom exhaust and intake shop. I figured once I'm done buying cheap bolt ons for it I'll be around 550 hp which is enough for my weekend driver.
I mean makes sense. 350s are a lot older and the new gts are definitely way faster. At least my 350 can keep up with new rts lol😏. Newer V8 with more power should definitely be beating 350s
It really depends on what you like more. If straight line speed is your thing, get the Mustang. If a nimble "sports car" experience is what you want, the 350Z is the way to go.

im sure you probably know this but i want to tell you anyway, you can change the stiffness of the steering in the settings on the gauge cluster

Only thing is the alternator is a fuccing b iT c h because you ha e to drain the radiator, pull the upper hose and pull the fan shroud to get it out
