    I think the exterior styling of the new edge was a little ahead of it's time. I seem to find it better looking now than I did when it was launched. Maybe that's just me.

    It's a great car for the money. It was a great car for its time. It will last for many miles to come. Very reliable.I've owned 13 of these cars.

      @destruxandexploze2552 4 ปีที่แล้ว +7

      Justin SVT If it’s so reliable, which the 4.6 is, 300k miles easily, why have you had 13? 🤔

    • @justin.c_svt
      @justin.c_svt 4 ปีที่แล้ว +26

      @@destruxandexploze2552 I still own 4 of them. I have bought several over the past 10 years to have as project cars, race cars, sell to family members, save from the previous owners who couldnt take care of them, and buy them for the sure joy of having the pleasure of owning them for at least a little while. Some cars were bucket list cars that I at least wanted to own for a little while and some like the cobras were so expensive that I decided to sell a few to justify buying the more expensive ones. I always enjoy buying new ones and being on the hunt for a special mustang.

    Bought my first mustang in 2016 it’s an 02 GT vert with only 43K on her. I’ve never loved a car before I got her. She was in pristine condition and I’ve done my best to keep her that way. On my days off I spend a lot of my down time in the garage keeping her clean inside and out. Perhaps someday I’ll know what it’s like to drive a brand new mustang but even if that never happens, I have a feeling I’ll always love my true blue new edge GT the most ❤️

Unfortunately I wrecked that car and now have an ‘03 GT. I own a 2004 gt garage kept with only 21k. Bought new as a weekend play toy! Race red with black racing stripes. Some bolt on’s but mostly stock. Cobra wheels and rims and Sallen spoiler. Love to take out occasionally when I want to hear the growl of the V8 combined with the upgraded flow master exhaust as you run threw the manual 5 speed! Keep saying I going to sell the car because I own several other vehicles and do not really drive the Mustang much anymore. Some how I haven’t been able to convince myself to put it up for sell yet!

    My 02 GT in sonic blue with 71,000 miles has held up very well since I bought it brand new. It is disappointing that it doesn't have the HP that the newer V6 Mustangs have (i.e. 2015 models) though. But it still turns heads. I thought about doing the Coyote swap but I don't know if I'll spend the money when the 4.6L gives out. If I did do the Coyote swap it wouldn't be the Gen 3 version because it has GDI. I've heard that the electronics would be problematic also. Anyway, I've considered an automatic transmission upgrade also but I've heard that the 8 and 10 speed transmissions don't last very long. I thought about changing to a higher rear axle gear ratio also. The 6 CD changer quit working several years ago so I upgraded to an aftermarket radio. I upgraded all the lights, both interior and exterior, to LEDs. Obviously there are after market upgrades that'll make the New Edge Mustangs look and perform better. My opinion is why buy a new car when it's cheaper to buy a new engine and/or AT? You'll be missing out on some newer features and styling found in the newer cars but a lot of that is new electronic technology that may or may not work properly and may or may not be necessary. It would be nice to have 500 HP but it would only get me tickets but it would be nice to surprise the hotrod next to me when my 02 Mustang blows their doors off when challenged.

    I used to want one of these so bad. And the one before it. And even a fox. When I was 14 when the new edge hit the market. And I was so envious of the guys who had the 99 svt. Than I was 16ish when the turmi came out and I wanted so bad. I worked 2 jobs as I went to school and 3 jobs in the summer just to try to somehow save the money for at least a 99-04 GT. But it never happened. Ended having a son and I searched for a mustang for years. Ended up with a 3rd Gen Camaro when I was 19. Wasn’t happy with it because I wanted a mustang. People on mustangs were out running me in my 305 T top car. Deals kept falling through on different model mustangs over the years. When I was 27 I was able to buy my first mustang. I got a 1991 5.0 GT. Manual. Stock. It was everything I dreamed it would be, besides fast lol. 200hp (of that) wasn’t very impressive. I drove it for 2 years. Had so many issues I couldn’t fix it was just ragged out. So I built a 331 stroker from the pan to Holley 650. Didn’t spare a $ on it. Dyno at 445 at the wheel. Put a mew T5 in. Put new 4:10 gears in. My radials in back with fatty and skinny wheels. 4” cowl hood. New black paint. Than she was a different animal. It gained the name ole nasty around the car scene because I was handing out ass whoopin a left and right. Only race I lost was to a built 6.2 vette that had head work and cam and tire. He barely got me. I just sold the car last year. I’m 37 now and looking back at the new edge where my passion started. I’m looking for a good clean 03/04. I own my second mustang now tho. Last year I bought a brand new 2018 ecoboost 10 speed auto. L6 litning blue. I love it. But it’s not a v8. Or stick. So I’m wanting to get back to my original love of mustangs and get the 03 GT

    The New Edge will always have a special place in my heart. They’re slow as hell by today’s standards, but it’s the generation that I grew up with. Ever since I saw one in Fast & Furious and in other games. I’ve always wanted one. Now here I am, 20 with a 2017 GT.

      How do you get that there slow they can still run what the speedometer says

    • @bap7929
      @bap7929 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@theradchase3094 they’re not slow but they’re not fast either. They’re quick enough for getting on a highway or needing to pass someone without much effort. They are still much quicker than the majority of cars on the road today.

    Had the same car except it was a 5 speed. It was a bargain back in the day. Interior was very average and the seats sucked. It was the V8 engine I was paying for. Intake manifold had to be replaced in 2011. Never ran the same after. Sold it for $2300 and bought a 2019 Camaro.

    My 2000 V6 has 193HP which gives it a power to weight ratio the same as a 1966 289 2bbl. If you feel that 400HP isn't enough in a car like a Mustang then you're likely going to end up a causality.

    The 400hp to 450hp limit for these engines is a complete myth there's a guy here in you tube make a over 1000s hp built motor.. there is another channel here on TH-cam where they took a two valve and made over 700 horsepower on an engine dyno with stock internals..
