1. Yes, the battery came half charged but I also charged it up to 100% and that did not solve the problem. 2. Yes, I tried tightening the seat post clamp with a wrench, I nearly stripped the threads to get it close to clamping. 3. Yes, I tried to troubleshoot it. Motor works on "walk mode", PAS sensor seems fine, battery is fine. Appears to be damaged controller. 4. Yes, Walmart took it back for a full refund.
You check the wires closely right? If it's even possible to see them? :P Also what is with us, this all happened already, why can't we just leave things a mystery. I Gots ta Know!!!
I bought 2 of these from Walmart over 2 years ago. They were both nearly perfect out of the box . We carried them to Nova Scotia in 2019 and went up hills we could never do without electric power. They are still running great today. We get about a 30 mile range at the medium level of assist. I bought them from Walmart because I knew I could get my money back if there was a problem. We’ve had no problems.
Useful accessories: plastic tarp, plastic baggies, pill bottles with SCREW top, and a powerful magnet. Plastic tarp is for everything...to keep carpet clean if nothing else. Anything with possible springs or other disassembly "missiles" like tube clamps, split rings, etc...I try to disassemble INSIDE a plastic bag...a trash bag if necessary for larger items with small parts that can "fly away". Doing so has saved me a LOT of time. I didn't do this ONE time in the past few years and a very tiny spring flew away and it took me over 2 hours to find it even in a relatively medium nap carpet. I've also placed a neodymium "power" magnet next to a part I thought might try to escape during disassembly, and that has helped a few times, too by "catching" the part before it could even launch.
Yes, but this is straight on pure SHIT. A friking decent battery costs the same. Even if it should had worked, good luck showing up to your local bike shop after 6 months of use with that shitty materials, nobody will even bother trying to fix it...
Bringing stuff in at a decent price point is nice , if you can afford it. Id rather buy a decent product at a reasonable price point than to expect a crappy product to be decent because it was cheap. That's walmart for you: less quality for less...always...
Not really. These bikes are made in China from various very cheap components that no one else wants. Walmart has merely purchased these bikes very cheaply and is making a profit. The end result is that the consumer will get a product that will potentially be unsafe to use and will not last long enough to be worth the outlay.
I bought this HYPER e-bike last month. I put it together, checked everything. The battery was charged up 3/4 way. No problem with it. It's a "pedal-assist" bike. No throttle there to play with It works great. In LOW power mode, I use my legs pretty good, no problem cruising with 11-12 mph speed. I like this mode because I get some excersize at the same time. The MEDIUM mode works good too, but it moves me faster then I can pedal. But I can go up to 1-17 mph speed. The faster HIGH mode then just push me like a "rocket" out. It goes easily 20-23 mph with not much pedal-assist. Great bike. No complain. I replaced the seat , it was too "skinny" for me, but other then that, it just works fine and I bought for $598.00 at Wal-Mart, but it works just fine for me. I'm George in Hollywood Beach, FL and 73 yrs "young". KEEP ON PEDALING...
There are motor shutoff switches on the brake hand levers. If the brake levers do not return completely to the open position, all power to the motor is cut. That's my guess as the front cluster of cables looked unusually stiff.
I have two of those bikes couple minor issues but they work great and he forgot to mention about customer service hyper has excellent customer service and they send out parts quickly and have them in stock unlike some of the big expensive bikes
I bought 3 of the e bikes from Walmart and they all work just fine. I had no trouble putting them together and making the usual adjustments. The battery charged well after the recommended 4 hour initial charge. Yes the price is cheap and generally you get what you pay for but for 398.00 you can't beat it. Fun to ride!
I disagree. I bought an E-Bike for $499.00 and I love it! No problems whatsoever. It also came completely assembled. Got it up to 30 mph, and will go even faster if I read up on that area. Sorry you got stuck with a piece of junk.
what i think would be a more non-biased and complete review would be to return and exchange the ebike for the same and start over. if the same thing happens then say what you said. Otherwise, poor quality control does not mean non-quality product. Peace man!
@Otto von Tutti - If you were looking for a date, a post about e-bikes was a strange place to look. Unless being gay affects the operation of the bicycle, I'm I'm not sure what you were hoping to achieve here.
That won't do much for the long term. The electronics are where this bike will fail. The cheap components will most likely be unsafe and not last more than a few months of use. These types of very cheap bikes have been around for years and they have all failed.
Go to embaku.com and see what they have I am not recommending them as I have ordered seven things from them and have not received anything. But the prices are unbelievable. It has only been two weeks science I sent my order. I don't recommend not don't recommend them. Just be careful whatever you buy.
I watched the video usually he states that he charged the vehicle first, I watched him open the box build it have trouble with the seat clamp but I must have missed the part where he fully charged it first by plugging it into the grass.
You got a bad one. My neighbor got one and the blue bike with the 700c wheels. The blue bike has fenders and a rear rack. I put both of them together. The blue one needed no adjustments. The gray mountain bike needed the front brake adjusted and the high limit screw adjusted. They both worked great. I was so impressed I bought a gray mountain bike for myself. Mine needed no adjustments. I've had 2 other E-Bikes. An Ecotric 20 inch fatbike and a Luna bike with the ludicrous 2500 watt option. In my experience, these bikes are an absolute bargain for $398.
Gave my daughter Hyper eride city bike 2 years ago still going strong. Hyper CS has been great for me. I have the Kent step thru 700c from Walmart 3,048 miles on it not a single issue except for 1 flat. Have gone 27 miles on a single charge, its comfortable , runs smooth and whisper quiet. I personally do all the maintenance on it. Sure it doesn't have a lot of bells and whistles as more expensive bikes but it does exactly what I want it to do. Walmart has the best return policy each bike I got came with a 90 day return policy. Good luck finding that anywhere else.
A sample size of one is plenty to see what components are used, and the care with which the bike is made. Combine those observations with background knowledge and you can form an expectation. When the sample confirms the expectation, plus has a few negative surprises easily attributable to one-offs, you really should draw a conclusion. My conclusion? You are unlikely to get a quality e-bike for $400. It might work, as might your Yugo. And like the e-bike, you are unlikely to get a quality Yugo (or a BMW that doesn't need frequent dealer visits).
@@michaelchapman1502 I was a store manager for a nationwide electronics retailer. When shipments came from our manufacturers, anything below 3% defect rate when testing a pallet of product was an acceptance. Above that, we had to right to reject, or test all and have them repair any defective units... People freak out too much over a single failure. However, looking at the engineering involved in the design can lead an experienced eye to justified concerns.
My friends and I bought a total of 8 Hypers. Their's all worked great out of the box except for mine. I tried for hours to adjust the derailleur. I couldn't get it to shift as crisp as the others'. Also my chain kept popping off even from just going over small tree roots. The V brakes were defective as well. I returned it, but they all love it. I was just unlucky and got a lemon...
I guess this makes only two of us. I bought one as well and none of the issues that are shown in this video. My front brake worked no prob, the seat clamp - clamped, and the pedal assist worked right away for me. *shrug*
@@PremiumUserUltra For the price I still stand by the purchase. I use it to go to the supermarket and home depot 2-3 times a week (more the supermarket than home depot lol). Granted these are pretty short trips but the bike has held up without issue and takes the bite out of the hills for me - exactly what I wanted. The GPS trip computer says I've logged 78 miles on the bike - so not a huge amount, but that's a fair amount of usage for me. More importantly, it's saved me quite a few trips in the car and I'm in much better physical fitness because of it. I think the only things I've done to the bike are: 1) new seat 2) adjusted rear brake 3) adjusted the pedal assist sensor - a total of probably 30m of maintenance above the original build.
My Hyper-E is 2 years old, 3830miles on the odometer, minor tweaks along the way, it has been a great 1st ebike for me. Perhaps your 'no-peddle assist' issue is as simple as moving the magnets closer to the sensor, this was my fix when it struck something while off roading.
This bike has a power button on the battery, you have to hold it down until the battery powers on as indicted by it's built in led. Then you can press the power button on the left handlebar. The seat clamp works perfectly after properly tightening it. Walmart offers to properly assemble this bike for you for $49. They sent a technician to my house who didn't leave until I took the bike around the block. Maybe you could have done some of that before beginning this video.
When I can buy a good quality washing machine for 400 , I would expect to buy a reasonable quality ebike for around 500. Excluding the battery, there’s around the same level of parts/engineering in each. I paid 1200 for an ebike, and around another four hundred to get it right. Most of the problems were with the bike parts, spokes, brakes crank etc. not the electric bits. I don’t know why people tolerate the extortionate prices for bicycle parts. In my experience, paying more for a bicycle, electric or not, does not necessarily translate into a better product.
I bought a Wal-Mart, Currie Bike 6 years ago. It has over 2500 miles on it, with minimal problems or expense. I would love a $2,000, but cannot justify the expense. You must understand HOW E bikes work to properly operate and maintain them.
Mine works great and its worth the price tag to be an electric pedal assisted bike. I’ve put close to 700 miles on it and it and that button you were pushing is for walking assistance. Lol
To be fair, he did confirm that the motor was able to be powered (so yes, the battery was charged enough), and he did troubleshoot the PAS sensor. That's about all you would reasonably expect a customer to do before returning/exchanging the bike at Walmart. At the end of the day, it's a Walmart bike. Sometimes they're fine enough, sometimes you get a dud.
I"ve had this bike for more than a year now and no problems at all. and my neighbor has one...and another friend too......why did you not just get another one and try it out ?
Just the frame is interesting, you could remove everything and put a Cyclone or another mid-drive on it, and have a nice built-in way to store the batteries which you don't get with a non-ebike frame. It's hard to find a DIY frame with battery storage built into it.
That's unfortunate that you got a lemon. Other people seem to be enjoying theirs. My e-bike is the $650 Ancheer Sunshine from Amazon. Yes, it's a "cheap" ebike but you get so much for what you pay for. I have a video on it, btw. I've made some upgrades since that video, like new handlebar grips, suspension seat post & giddy up seat. Next upgrade being handlebar extensions. In the long run I may upgrade to 48v 1000w.
i have watched your channel since you were building battery packs ,but you didnt give this one the chance it needed return it for another even the exspensive ones can fail out of the box.please try this one again i can afford it but not a much better lectric bike
Yeah but if he had paid 2,000 for a rad bike he could have gotten a dud that he could not return. As opposed to walmart that will allow you to return a pizza after you eat half of it.
Hey, I usually never comment on stuff but I’ve purposely been waiting for a video from you with a video with this bike. You got me into e-bikes/mountain bikes for commuting and getting places/trails, but this bike, yes it may be cheap but change a couple factors on it and it’s a great bike. One main things if you read through their book, you gotta charge it for 4 hours before any use to get the battery’s full effect, so far, one of my longest rides I got almost 17 miles in just over an hour on low and medium assist. I’ve done A LOT of looking into these bikes and everything, yes the more expensive bikes are beyond great, plan to get one for more extreme trails, but a couple upgrades to this bike and not insistingly killing the battery it’s a great bike my mans, I was iffy at first my self but give it a shot.
I've also heard the bike is decent, which is why I bought it. But unfortunately this just shows that quality control is lacking with this manufacturer. And for reference, I charged the battery to 100% after this and it did not solve the problem.
@@EbikeSchool I understand completely, a few people came to me with bad models, yes it is definitely cheap when it comes to a few factors I can’t knock it there, but get a decent one, upgrade a few things and worth it in the long run in my eyes, I was actually lucky enough to only have the bad breaks, keep up the great work with the bikes and videos though
If you plan to regularly take your bike(s) on a city bus, make sure the tires will fit in the outside mounting rack(s). Many of the "mountain bikes" have tires that are too wide to fit in the racks...of which many seem to be designed for thinner street tires. "Fat Tires" are of course also far too wide to fit in the outside bike racks. SOME bus drivers will let you take one of the *SMALLER* folding bikes inside the bus, but you have to have it folded up before the bus arrives at the stop. They won't wait for you.
I have this bike and I had no problems getting it set up. they do tell you to charge the battery for 4 hours before you use it for the first time . I didn't even see you get on and ride it. You should give it a second shot. don't get me wrong I totally agree that the bike is junky, but for the price and the function that you get, I think it's pretty decent for a first time pedal assist bike.
I like your work and you are the expert, so I'm not going to fuss about your findings here, but in defense of Walmart--and I still work at one and I was a bike assembler for eight years and truly enjoyed it--their boxed bikes, in the hands of a quality assembler, turn out pretty well and get rolled to the sales floor where they sell, often, that same day or even hour. (I even experienced rolling bikes to the display rack and selling them before I even placed them in the rack.) And so with yours, sure, the brakes and the seat clamp need adjustment, perhaps the wheels need a bit of truing and that cable needs straightening. And usually, the whole everything needs an honest once or twice over, the usual bike shop treatment. And Walmart will take it back, no problem, they are famous for that, no hassles. But it'd be more interesting to see you trouble-shoot it first, like, what is wrong with it, sensors or connectors or wires or what? It could be simple or it could be serious, and you are the perfect person to tell us what's up with that. And a couple of years ago, for an older friend, I set up a Walmart e-bike which he purchased at walmart.com. And it went together perfectly and it was a cool experience--he can't drive his cars anymore, due to health, but he has a mint Model T and a Sixties T-bucket hot rod in his garage.
For someone that does not have his license right now , would this bike get me to and from work good ? I'm about 8 mike's away and I'm sure there is a good bike path to take.
I just bought this bike used on Facebook market place for $100.00 The original owner had the same problem as you but waited too long to return it. I spent six hours fixing the wiring problems and now it works okay. The rotor handle gear shifter is the absolute worst even though it is a Shimano But the motor and battery work great. The seat sucks so I replaced it with a used one I had lying around. I will probably sell it or upgrade it into an urban assault E.V. that I don’t worry too much about getting stolen 😀
if they sold a $400 dollar ebike here in New Zealand i would buy one just so i could mod the hell out of it, like that hub motor alone with tire is like over 400 to import here oO
Of course you read the instructions that said battery must be charged for four hours before riding. You were correct in saying Walmart's return policy is outstanding.
I bought this bike on sale for $395 4 months ago and arrived within 3 days, Had to make a few minor adjustments , raise the handlebars 4 inches with extension, and replaced the seat for wider kinder one. I ride it 3 times a week for 20 or so miles and this bike is well worth the small investment , the price has gone back up to $598 and I would still by it. So at least I have put on at least 600 hundred miles. The gear shifter { 6 speed} is smooth and this bikes goes up hills effortlessly sitting down.Besides the 6 speed gears the controller has 3 power levels At the highest settings I have topped 22 to 24 MPH hard to tell cause my eyes were tearing up,it was 50 degrees out.Lowest settings are around 9 miles MPH. As with anything you bye you can get a lemon, be it a car or a bike. For the record I,m 75 years old and if I can ride up a steep hill sitting down I am more than satisfied.
Seems like a perfect bike for my wife, who will ride it once a month on paved bike trails with me (I ride several times a week on my Ride-1-Up 700 and love it). I'll just pay the $30 for the 3-year warranty and Walmart will exchange it if anything goes wrong.
In 2011 I bought two E-Motto 4.5 ridgeline. They were sold for $400.00 each from Menards. Still run just fine as I have changed the batteries twice since new. Amazon sold me the last batteries 24 volt .👍😀
Apart from not working the bike did look pretty decent for under $400 most parts could of easily been upgraded if needed. It's Shame the electric side of it didn't work though
I buy rear hub motor bike but I like to improve power and I want install bafang mid drive center motor together without burning the rear hub motor what you think?
It's strange, did you check the battery? May be the bike was sitting too long on a shelf and the battery got discharged. One should always charge the battery before first use :)
I cheaped out on my first bike, it lasted 6months before the battery swelled and stopped working, take into account this was 2013, batteries were not cheap, it'd be another 6 months before I built my first battery, 106ncr18650b cells, was a beast, lasted 22,200km before some damaged cells failed. Also that walmart bike, there must've been something to do with the sensor wires back to the controller as you were saying, as you know the controller is fine, the motor was working and screen. That literally only leaves the sensor, Micah did you check the wire terminations. I know it's obvious for you but in my experience Occam's razor normally helps. Always check the stupid bits first. I'm guessing you checked off camera.
A-A Ron said, _106ncr18650b cells, was a beast, lasted 22,200km before some damaged cells failed_ Good quality cells make a HUGE difference. Unfortunately, one must continuously watch out for COUNTERFEIT lithium cells even when they appear identical to name-brand cells. At times even the reputable battery pack manufacturers have problems receiving a shipment of counterfeits from their lithium cell suppliers. It's a business with a lot of corrupt practices and fraud. I had one supplier sell me supposedly "NCR18650B" cells only to have them fail in sample testing upon receipt with 100% of the order having only (if my memory is right) LESS than 50% of the specified mAh capacity per cell. Every external indicator including the weight suggested they were legitimate "NCR" cells. Only an battery electrical analyzer found the fraud. Safety can be a problem as well with counterfeit lithium cell poor quality manufacturing. There is no way to know who actually made those cells. The supplier wanted to "fix" the problem by me keeping the cells and refunding me 50% of the price. NO DEAL and reported.
I got the exact same bike for Christmas, it’s definitely for beginners like myself and it has its issues but you get what you pay for. My front wheel came bent and the customer service is great, I called Hyper and they didn’t question anything, gave them my address and they sent a new one.
@@arts8302 wow. Good luck getting across Texas (or any state) on any kind of bike. We still need cars, in case you did not notice, America is roughly 40,000 times larger than Sweden.
@@keralee - Your intuitive grasp of mathematics is astounding. In your mind, apparently 40,000 equals 21.15. If you want to be seen as credible, at least start with a credible argument.
It was my first bike, wheels out of true and brakes not set correctly, but once I took care of it myself the bike rode fine. I put 1250 miles on it in 5 months and then sold it for $400.
A couple of years ago, I wanted to get back into bikes and bought a Hyper Hydroform from Walmart online. I wanted to get around town faster, and hopefully lose some weight in the process. That didn't happen. Out of the box, the paint was chipped and the reflector(s) was broken. The literal first time I attempted to ride it, the derailleur sheered in two. Barely 10 seconds on it, no lie. In fact, ALMOST EVERY time I placed my booty butt cheeks on that bike, something broke. The usual culprit was the rear derailleur. I didn't want to give up on it just yet and wanted to learn how to fix it and become more mechanically inclined. Maybe I should have just gotten my money back. At one point, I wanted to turn it into an E-bike. That was a whole other world of problems. Only got it to work a couple of times. Eventually about half a year ago, I figured I'd make my own battery pack for it and turn it into a trike. ...It still sits in the back unfinished to this day. Honestly I think the frame, tires, and handle bar were fine. But you're right. For everything else, they were just so cheap that they broke far too easily and totally ruined my biking experience. Now, I still don't think you should spend 1k, 2k, 3k+ on a starter bike just to casually ride it around sometimes. There are some people that do that. I spent $200 thinking it'll be fine and I'll upgrade later, but it wasn't. I had to upgrade several parts immediately just to be able to get more than 10 minutes of ride time out of it.
I just got this bike and it works fine, actually pretty decent quality for the price. Maybe if you were into other PEVs like eskate you'd know that bum units are a thing at these prices
My wife and I are retired and in our 70s. She has difficulty walking and may need a hip replacement. We been thinking about bicycles to get some exercise but hills can be a problem. I came across your channel and now think e-bikes may be the answer. Price is certainly an issue for us so I appreciate the warning about cheap e-bikes. Two questions - is it advisable to look for used e-bikes and what about Costco, is this a better choice than Walmart? Any input is appreciated. Thanks
Hi, I just purchase the same bike. It arrives 7 days after placing my order. The bike is awesome. It handles hill well I suggest trying again...I know you got a dud the first time. Based on my experience, the bike deserves a pro review. Erythema Christmas. Regards, Les
Anyone know a good place to get a battery for super cheap most places are extortionate offering ridiculous £400 prices which I’m just not prepared to spend on
Know any website that WILL give each states requirements for all 3 classes of ebikes? I'm trying to find a good ebike for me and cant find the requirements and all the bike shops up here in Washington State wont help or act like there are no requirements and that all bikes are legal. I dont want to spend money on a bike to find out later its an illegal street bike.
Hi Micah, do you plan on writing any books in the future? I would love it if you could write two. One to cover ebikes and the other about solid state batteries. I know you've written about ebikes and DIY lithium ion batteries in the past but thought it could use an update with all the tech advancements i.e. belt drives / solid state batteries that can charge in 10 minutes.
Did you set the assist to a higher level while trying to engage the motor? This is a class 1 so the level 1 pedal assist is almost unnoticeable. In the video it actually looks like the motor enabled as you were hand peddling. I spent $700 on this bike back in October. I've been riding it 38+ miles a day 5 - 6 days a week with minor issues with chain drops. Even at $700 I'm glad to have this bike for my work commute.
Funny thing is, you can turn your normal bike to an ebike for $500 with a 72v go kart motor, 72v 3000w controller, and 72v 10ah battery and BOOM you got yourself a 35mph e bike that just requires a bit of effort to assemble. You may OR may not need a welder but it’s worth it😎
I have a Rattan Challenger Pro E-Bike. 350 W brushless motor and a 48V 10.4AH samsung battery. i have some questions on the motor controller. Can I stop the governor or replace the controller itself?
That's a misleading video it states right on the box to charge it fully before first use. It's that huge yellow sticker label right on the box. I work for walmart and have built these and they work perfectly fine for what they are. I by the way charged it first.
I am a little late watching this. Funny that the TH-cam algorithm suggested your video on this topic as a result of looking for videos regarding rad bikes and the 1up. I thought my first e-bike was a cheap thing at only $800, and after 18 months, and 4500 miles of commuting, I would never go any less expensive. I am now waiting for my RadCity. Thank you for your video, it confirms why I never looked at anything from a discount store.
Question not related to video. My question is if I’m in hi speed motor mode and have to make an emergency stop. Will the brakes stop the bike even though motor is still in hi speed?
I don't think you gave that hyper bike a fair shot man I never comment you opened it up with no preparation and you actually it looked to me like you was getting paid to treat that bike bad 👎 not everyone can afford a high in bike an you been doing this for a brief period of time and money 💰 is an issue for a lot of people not everyone can feel that way you do about certain products I myself paid half of the that 400 for a peddle bike 🚲 I like your link so I'm just asking you to think about it like this if you was going to go buy a hyper bike an was saving money up to do so an seen this post 📫 would it have changed your mind problem so !! Couldve given it another chance. Maybe it was just a rare dud but well never know because he was so quick to dismiss it. I know someone who's had it for 2 years now and is reselling it for almost the same price to upgrade
Disappointed that you didn't get a fully working version as I'm a retiree looking to either upgrade my existing bike or just buy something like this that is in my price range. It would have been nice if were able to get another one after return and do the testing. As another commenter pointed out, at least Walmart and Hyper are trying to get ebikes to the masses, a la VW Beetle and Yugo of yore which also had sketchy functionality and received criticism. ;-)
Look, we all make fun of Walmart stuff I do on occasion. But bringing an affordable ebike to the masses will make it possible for folks to leave their cars home and ride a bike to the store or even to work. I have a knee issue from a torn meniscus years ago so yeah, this bike is something I can afford and I can pedal until my knee hurts and then depend on the motor.
I bought a small ebike from Walmart online for about $330 about 13 months ago. Dohiker 16" Folding ebike, 250W, "36V" 7.5Ah battery pack with LCD (not simple LED "dumb" computer). First one had a badly damaged rear fork...someone had clearly assembled the bike before and damage it by overtightening a chain adjustment enough to permanently damage things. The second ebike was fine. Bike has been working great since then. Walmart let me return the bike ordered online to the local STORE without any problem at all. I didn't even have to box it back up. They expedited shipment of the 2nd bike so that it arrived just before Christmas. Battery analyzer shows the battery does in fact supply almost 7.5Ah. It is probably a 10s3p configuration of 18650 2500mAh Lithium-ion cells. As with ALL small wheel bikes, this 16" bike is a bit less stable than a 20" or 26" wheel bike, so you do have to be careful while turning and fast maneuvers. As with every ebike I've helped assemble from the box, the disc brakes MUST be adjusted before riding. There are multiple TH-cam videos providing simple tips on how to do this in just a few minutes in most cases. I have also since installed an $15 Xlite100 Smart Brake light and replaced the standard dirt cheap low-light headlight with a vastly more powerful $12 4xLED "20Watt" headlight that gets its power from the 36V battery pack. It makes the difference like riding at daytime (new headlight) vs.riding using a disposable cigarette lighter (old headlight). The new headlight also has a large cylindrical heatsink which helps keep the LEDs a lot cooler than most headlights so the headlight's LEDs and circuitry should last much longer. I generally ride a 20" folding ebike. It cost something like $250 more than the Dohiker and made the same brake light and headlight changes when I first got it.

Never unpack or assemble on grass, especially long grass. You drop something smaller than a pedal, you will spend hours looking for it.
Useful accessories:
plastic tarp, plastic baggies, pill bottles with SCREW top, and a powerful magnet.
I've also placed a neodymium "power" magnet next to a part I thought might try to escape during disassembly, and that has helped a few times, too by "catching" the part before it could even launch.
that's half the fun of watching others do it
That and you aren't going to be able to find all the garbage that was used to pack the bike, so you become a littering asshole.
And near a drain too.
Walmart is trying to bring ebikes to the masses at an affordable price point. Expensive ebikes are out of reach for most people.
Yes, but this is straight on pure SHIT. A friking decent battery costs the same. Even if it should had worked, good luck showing up to your local bike shop after 6 months of use with that shitty materials, nobody will even bother trying to fix it...
This isn't an e bike tho it's a piece of shit. How is this enjoyable . Save hard if you wanna nice e bike . I did
Bringing stuff in at a decent price point is nice , if you can afford it.
You can return the bike to Walmart like Micah did. If it works out then great, you have an ebike.
I have watched 1 minute of this video and it is driving me nuts that you are opening this on grass, lol. So easy to loose a small part.
Peace man!
Maybe you got a bum bike, my partner and I both bought the bike and they have worked flawlessly since.
Get back to us once you have done a 1000 miles. I'll bet it won't get that far unless you pedal.
@Otto von Tutti marriage is becoming less common and people are just calling themselves partners instead.

That won't do much for the long term. The electronics are where this bike will fail. The cheap components will most likely be unsafe and not last more than a few months of use. These types of very cheap bikes have been around for years and they have all failed.

Walmart dont test stuff unfortunately
I don't think you can make the conclusion you made based on a sample size of 1
@@michaelchapman1502 To be fairrrrrrrrrrrrr
A sample size of one is plenty to see what components are used, and the care with which the bike is made. Combine those observations with background knowledge and you can form an expectation. When the sample confirms the expectation, plus has a few negative surprises easily attributable to one-offs, you really should draw a conclusion.
My conclusion? You are unlikely to get a quality e-bike for $400. It might work, as might your Yugo. And like the e-bike, you are unlikely to get a quality Yugo (or a BMW that doesn't need frequent dealer visits).
@@Sylvan_dB A sample size of 1 is an anecdote. Means nothing. The next 99 bikes could be fantastic. But we can't know, based on that sample size of 1.

Should charge the battery fully once before riding, the bikes probably been sitting in a Wearhouse for months or years.
Mine works great and its worth the price tag to be an electric pedal assisted bike. I’ve put close to 700 miles on it and it and that button you were pushing is for walking assistance. Lol
You didn't even trouble shoot. Was the battery even charged. Theres a few reddit theads saying the bike is worth it at this price.
To be fair, he did confirm that the motor was able to be powered (so yes, the battery was charged enough), and he did troubleshoot the PAS sensor.
That's about all you would reasonably expect a customer to do before returning/exchanging the bike at Walmart.

You need to charge the battery??
Could it be that the pedal goes on the other side?
I bought a Jetson Bolt Pro at Costco for 299. Works great. Rode it all around Celebration without any issues.
I have a $75 pedal bike. It works and never runs out of power. If it gets stolen I'm not out a few days wages unlike that ebike.

I just bought this bike used on Facebook market place for $100.00
The original owner had the same problem as you but waited too long to return it.
Did you put gas in it? Try the headlight, is the battery charged, is it plugged in. What did you do?

A-A Ron said, _106ncr18650b cells, was a beast, lasted 22,200km before some damaged cells failed_
Good quality cells make a HUGE difference.

Maybe you should've bought the E bike assembled already and plug it to the charger. It would've work.
Why don't you charge it first??? Why are you first riding on the grass???
Did you try charging it before riding it?

Thank you for honesty on reviews! I bought my first new bike because of you!
Did you read the instructions? Charging 4 hours before use?
Question not related to video. My question is if I’m in hi speed motor mode and have to make an emergency stop. Will the brakes stop the bike even though motor is still in hi speed?
Why not get a replacement to review? Any brand of bike can have a defective one pop up every now and then..
Take it to the top of a ski slope , yell "GET SOME !" and give it a true test ride ☠️👍
Glad you included an update at the end!
Love to see a vid on how you might upgrade these cheapo bikes for cheap
Same thought ran through my mind
Throw it away and buy a kit from Amazon.
Vesc swap and charge and ride.
An I'm going to buy a hyper today it's on sale for 400 it's a black friday deal it's not 400 all day an I'm not a sponsor for hyper i just like the nice style of there frames that's white alloy light and looked.an the looked durable to me an I can get hybrid or another brand just got to IV got a hyper bike good quality light and affordable when there's really a lot of people buy-in JUNK straight up ☝ for a he'll of a lot more you doin this for so long an not willing to spend no time to try an fix the problem on that hyper bike an said nothing about the quality of the item that sales for suck a low price like I said I like your links but feel you should go Bogan buy the hyper bike an give it a far review thx
yikes $898
Canadian. i picked up a hyper mtb for a ebike project and yes these bicycles are junk even the front shocks.
It cost something like $250 more than the Dohiker and made the same brake light and headlight changes when I first got it.
good video. would have liked to known what the issue was and see it ride.
