Ocelot in Snake Eater: A complete goofball Ocelot in Phantom Pain: Implied to become a lot more serious and stoic Ocelot in Sons of Liberty and Guns of the Patriots: Has an excuse to go full goofball again
In Snake Eater, he's a clumsy goofball who likes to show off. In Phantom Pain, he's mature and respected. In MGS1, Sons Of Liberty & Guns Of The Patriots, he's completely feard and a sadist.
to be fair he has been shown to be a very quick learner. even in his chronologically first appearance in MGS3 he gets more and more skilled in combat *incredibly* quickly, and very quickly adopts techniques he's only just been introduced to.
Liquid wasn’t the first boss. He was final boss. Liquid Ocelot is not Ocelot merely pretending to be Liquid. He used hypnosis, psychotherapy, drugs and nanomachines to transplant Liquid’s personality onto his own. He was mental doppelgänger of Liquid. Big Boss explained that in the end. So Liquid Ocelot is not Ocelot
Ocelot is the truth hero in the serise. he belived in the cause so much that he allowed himself to be tormented but the physique of liquid. he was a true fallen hero. him and snake shared the role of puppets to a higher cause, the greater good or evil and in the end a hero fell. Fighting for a cause is honorable, but to lose yourself so that others can correct the past mistakes of men is pure nobility.

Revolver Ocelot is what I say "to become a hero, sometime someone need to be a villain" And interesting Revolver Ocelot somewhat mirror Lee Van Cleef actual personality behind the camera. In movies, he is known as the best (or badass) actor of villain but in reality, he is actually a really heartwarming person according to people who meet him in person
Imagine fighting in a war for years numb to everything happening around you only to that numbness taken away and every emotion, trauma and regret hitting you at once
42:50 You know the Mount Snakemore thing never made sense to me. Why would it have Old Snake on it? I would presume that ship would have taken a good few years to build. Perhaps they started during the Tanker mission in MGS2's time. Snake's aging came on rapidly sometime between the Plant Mission and the events of MGS4. Also shouldn't Big Bos be on the left since it's the highest figure? I donno. I just never liked it. Does it represent that the Snakes were The Patriot's highest achievement? Or is it just a Kojima troll?
@@keithklassen5320 This whole scene is a troll. Kojima dialed his quirky Japanese humor meter up to 11 here. All the cardboard box hiding, crocodile cap wearing, Playboy magazine placing of the whole MGS series literally culminates in this scene.
It took me years to realise that he's speaking with an English accent. That's Liquid's influence on him, instead of of Ocelot speaking with his voice, it's just his accent
@james1 we're not saying it's an issue. We're saying that it's literally stated to be so by Big Boss himself. Ocelot hypnotized himself with psychotherapy which was enhanced with nanomachines. Nanomachines can do wonders in this series. And even then, during the fight with Ocelot, you gradually knock the LIQUID off of him, showing that he was never actually possessed. By phase 3 he's no longer wearing the persona of Liquid.
@@citizenoftheworld2694 but it’s not the Marine’s model it’s the Outer Haven model it has a smaller tail than the Marines model and has the Outer Haven lettering on it
@@dillonkinder9296 I wonder what’s the reasoning behind the shorter tail. I presume the purpose of the tail is to help it swim so what would be the advantage of removing the tail? It seems to be a pointless change.
It’s some bullshit tbh. Originally it was brought up as a plot point in MGS2, Ocelot had Liquid’s forearm surgically transplanted onto him to replace the arm he had cut off in MGS1. Liquid was somehow able to start possessing Ocelot through his dead arm. This was too wacky though, even by Hideo Kojima’s standards, so it was retconned in MGS4. It’s explained in the last cutscene with Big Boss (even then in slightly vague terms), but basically Ocelot underwent Self-hypnosis and “nanomachine psychotherapy” to change his personality and convince himself he was Liquid to try fool the Patriots automatic AI System that was hunting Ocelot. The patriots basically didn’t take Liquid as seriously as a threat as they did Ocelot, so he could take some of the heat-off himself by pretending to be Liquid and therefore make it easier to arrange his plans to destroy the Patriots AI. Still pretty convoluted, but better than being possessed by a dead guy’s arm. To be fair, though the games plot and ending is rushed (due to development issues) MGSV expands on the idea of using hypnosis to try change a person’s personality into a doppelgänger of somebody else. As *spoiler* (for a five year old game anyway) Venom Snake turns out to just be a doppelgänger of a Big Boss.
@@StalinTheSaint being possessed isn't that wacky, especially when you look at psycho mantis and the sorrow. I think ocelot being legitimately controller by liquid is better then some "I was only pretending" bs

TheSuperZeldaMan since ghosts legitimately do exist in the MGS world I still think a bit of Liquids spirit still has some influence on Ocelot. Of course the self hypnosis Ocelot did to himself is a biggie
Ocelot used psychotherapy and nanotech to create a copy of Liquid's personality inside his head, then grafted Liquid's arm onto himself, as part of an admittedly convoluted scheme to throw off the Patriots' AI.
Nanomachines suppressed all soldiers emotions on the battlefield, so what Liquid did was turn off the nanomachines and made all soldiers feel all those emotions all at once (pain, suffering, guilt, terror, anger, fear, etc)
