@@mr.h1262I couldn’t agree more. I don’t know why he decided to become a comedy actor, as his emotional scenes hit so much harder. That’s actually why I’m so excited about his upcoming movie “The Astronaut.”
The thing that makes a crazy night so funny to me is that it is so Gross and crass, yet the animation is absolutely gorgeous. I love introducing people to this movie and watching them react with such confusion at their own wonderment.
This is the redemptive quality of this movie, the insane juxtaposition between atrocious disgusting toilet humor in an otherwise wholesome, lovingly crafted animated film.
I agree, it’s part of what makes this interesting. But it does have some of the most disgusting potty humor animated in this style, which surely makes it novel (like the deer scene). It’s kind of magnificent… Also definitely not a film for the times lol
As a preteen finding this vhs it is absolutely gorgeous. Adam fills his role as the carless dope that falls in love and cares for the child. Lots of huge bops like "i hate me" in the beginning, "techical foul" and "whitey" aka "bum diddy" its the potty humor for the kids, the cuss words that we know but cant say around mom, and jokes that will have us laughing for months. Its somthing i can look back on and smile
The worst part is that it’s by the same animation studio that did The Iron Giant, but BOTH of these films bombed in the box office so they had to shut down.
Eight Crazy Nights shares several animators who worked on Iron Giant, but it wasn’t the same studio. Most of the animation was outsourced to several smaller studios with some additional work from Warner Bros., which was at that point laying off people due to the back-to-back failures of Quest for Camelot, Iron Giant and Osmosis Jones. Brad Bird, the main creative lead for Iron Giant, had already jumped ship to work for PIXAR at that point.
The whole "Crying" song, where Davey's arguing with a bunch of store logos and mascots while under the influence at a mall, was both touching and weird.
Honestly I think it's a great scene in every way. The music, the story, the character, and the setting all work together. The jackass main character experiences a full blown intervention in the form of a hallucination in the place that's significant to the other main character pushing him to finally confront his demons and acknowledge his issues. It's a powerful scene, just unfortunately tacked onto a movie that has really bad ones that outweigh it.
Its a punch to the gut, to see someone face their trauma like that. Buuut the sheer juxtaposition between that, and all the poo jokes, kiiinda brings you out of it.
it actually wasn't as expensive as a lot of major blockbusters (even at the time) were; its budget was only $34m, which is even cheaper than the first spongebob movie believe it or not
I think the biggest insult is just how well animated it is… For the short amount of time they had and the tumultuous process, they produced a VERY beautifully animated film. It’s honestly something that could compete with WB’s good animated movies from the 90’s and early 2000’s, but the fact that that animation goes to some of Sandler’s most crass and mean spirited writing (and in a Hanukkah movie nonetheless, which there aren’t that many of mainstream wise) is just such a slap in the face to what could’ve been a staple of the holidays.
You know there was more than one writer who worked on this right? Adam was the lead writer for Leo, as well as the producer and the voice actor for the main character, and that movie is not at all mean spirited. Assuming he must be the one who is at fault for the bitter, jaded and mean spirited nature of the writing just because his name is the one on the poster is kind of ridiculous.
@@starlette7820 Maybe Adam Sandler isn’t the right person to blame. I have a love hate relationship with this movie too. I know it was a crappy movie to a degree but it did have some nice emotional moments to it. The second end song (I Believe) was probably one of the most memorable for me.
I first watched this last year and automatically became a favorite. Animation is great and the story line is funny with a heartfelt ending. Solid holiday movie
I remember watching this as a child (when I probably shouldn't have but all the jokes snd deep stuff pretty much flew over my head) and remember thinking this was the funniest movie, I kinda want to watch it again now that I'm an adult and see of I still think it's that funny. My parents watched it recently for the first time in years and they said it was funny so I might still enjoy it
The beautiful animation makes the movie feel like a window into a reality where adult animated movies have real money put into them in the west. I just wish someone else had written it. (You could keep Sandler as the lead character though, he’s a surprisingly good voice actor outside of his awful Whitey voice.)
I absolutely love this movie. My dad and i had a tradition of watching it every now and then during winter seasons, we both love the humor of it and the actual feelings moments. Ill never forget this movie
When I remeber this film in the abstract, it's really touching and adorable and a good story. When I actually watch it.... there are a lotta scenes where I'm just like "this could be cut and nothing of vaule woulda been lost."
The toilet humor really puts me off this one despite the animation looking so impressive. I know some people will think it's ridiculous but I'm really sensitive to gross out type stuff and I really hate when he goes that route in his movies. Goofy Sandler humor is fine but he's at his absolute worst when he dips into gross territory. I hope when you do a video on this one you won't actually show those scenes, I really like your videos but god I cannot handle seeing that
This is the only Adam Sandler movie that I like/will watch. The clean, hand drawn animation, and cute musical numbers makes up for the potty humor. . . And Adam Sandler.
I remember watching it for the first time on HBO years ago and found myself singing along with it, and catching it again when it came on again. I love the soundtrack. And have found myself singing the songs again and again throughout the years despite not having watched it in years.
Adam is really at his best when he's more reliant on his goofy type of humor rather than the gross out type stuff imo.

Make no mistake, Eight Crazy Nights is not a perfect movie, but I still genuinely love it for heartfelt moments
I have a love hate relationship with this movie too.
I know it was a crappy movie to a degree but it did have some nice emotional moments to it. The second end song (I Believe) was probably one of the most memorable for me.
Hate this movie? "Now that a technical foul!"
I found out my dad, who had a very difficult time even being emotional at all, almost cried over this when he first watched it.
I first watched this last year and automatically became a favorite. Animation is great and the story line is funny with a heartfelt ending. Solid holiday movie
Unironically watching this movie is me and my families christmas tradition. We've been watching it since it came out, and we watch it every xmas eve.
I’m so happy to find this comment. My fam also watches it together once a year during the holidays together 😂 we know the songs by heart ❤
It is supposed to be a Hanukkah movie.
It’s beautifully animated… but so stupid too
The deer shitting themselves laughing was absolutely necessary to include
I did not need to be flashbanged by that clip dawg
Like I said somewhere else: It’s the guiltiest pleasure of all
Hey is that the old short man who got hit by a basketball meme
And also HOW MANY HOT DOGS DID YOU EAT
@@Stephanie-mv9iy I THINK IT WAS THIRTY-FIVE!!!
the burp made me laugh so hard 💀

Okay but, why does that dance synch up so well...?
I saw it in theater with my sister, we had a great time. Best chanukkah 🕎
Definitely a prime example of what works and what you can scrape by with. Still love it
"Mens 11 right foot, children's 9 left foot." I absolutely love Whitey.
I couldn't help but laugh at this 😂
I remember watching it for the first time on HBO years ago and found myself singing along with it, and catching it again when it came on again. I love the soundtrack. And have found myself singing the songs again and again throughout the years despite not having watched it in years.
I love how his singing voice changes for that one song with Jennifer 😂
How the hell did the animators get thru drawing half these scenes is the bigger question
In the early 2000s, this was basically the standard for many comedies around the time, especually for Sandler films
Those eight nights with Adam Sandler were quite CRAZY alright! It’s a technical foul for sure, but a guilty pleasure for some.
Honestly I might try and convince my family to watch this with me at Christmas it sounds like the goofiest time 😂😂
"bom biddy biddy BOM BOM" goes hard as hell🗣️🗣️🗣️🗣️🗣️🗣️🗣️🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥
Can't wait for you to react to her next album when it comes out!
