Had a CEO once that wanted to fly into a remote location where we were building a chemical plant and the nearest big airport was an hour's drive. The airstrip nearby was built for crop dusters. Our company pilot was a former navy fighter pilot and when I gave him the length he said, "That'll be twice as much as I'll need." I was told later that the CEO was scared to death by the landing and the takeoff.
Wow... This is a really short runway! This Cub probably pretty light and it has strong engine. A superb STOL-plane... And of course the pilot is experienced!👍
Just like my uncle Chet, Sky King. Dirt roads, farm fields, you name it. Behind his on the farm, he had two airplane hangers. One for the farm plane, a Beech Bonanza. The other was a loaded out twin engine Mooney for long distance travels. Got his license at the post office in the early 1930’s. The Bonanza had roll down windows for coyote hunting. Way ahead of his time.
I hear they’re building a new Starbucks on the south side of the island. They were going to build it on the north side but Shake Shack and TJ Maxx beat them to it.
Ok, I have a story. My dad flew Grumman TBMs in WW2 and also in Korean war along with Corsairs . He was given a mission to fly 2 Army covert intelligence persons into North Korea, land on the beach and pickup the 2 intel persons they were replacing. This was in the TBM. He told me this when he was in his late 80s, passed away at 98. My brother was a A4 crew chief in the 60s and informed a Marine Captain his plane needed some work, when the Captain found out who his father was he said , “ If George ---- son says I can’t take off then I won’t, as far as I’m concerned your father could walk on water” . My dad became an airlines pilot later on, when the story about Tully landing his plane on the Hudson River came out I asked my dad if that is something he could have done. Without hesitation he said, “Yeah, sure” . I believed him without doubt. 😊
Cool video. Impressive skill for sure. Just curious why besides you can would you decide to do that? Seems very risky with alot that could go wrong. Is that something you do regularly to keep your skills up just incase you need to land somewhere like that?
Color me F@@@@@@ impressed! That couldn't have been more then 80ft!! And you used only half of it!! You had the weather gods on your side for this ride!
Shit, a duck would have needed a longer runway than that! Fantastic work.
🤣🤣 👍
That helicopter looks like a plane! 😂
😜
What kinda license do you need to fly of those? @@AKCub907
😂
EZ, just have to remember that you're in a Cub.
;o)

Neat story.....
From the amount of tracks that is a popular destination!

The Super Cubs do well...has 180 HP.
Wow! That sandbar looks very short! Great flying for sure! Thanks for sharing.

Thanks for kind comments 👍
Amazing. Just amazing!
He lives there now. Trade agreements with other nearby 30 foot islands are in progress.

Neat stories 😁
Now this is the true shortest runway
You are hired!!
😜👍
I could do that in my Maule. All I need is 0 degree OAT and a 30 kt headwind at sea level ;-)
That is AMAZING
I saw you were out flying late. Very cool place
If the pilot didn't go there ahead of time in a canoe and measure that island, that was even crazier than it looked. Stunned, and glad it worked out.
No Canoe, Can tell with practiced eye how long it was. More than needed 👍
@@AKCub907 Exactly - you didn't just land on a tiny sandbar, you did it with half the sandbar to spare! Very impressive.
@@davidjorgensen877 Very True, Thanks 👍
I was like how the heck is he gonna leave then.. oh! Dayum.
Very nice flying.
The fish: 😮😮
Wow, well done. That was very impressive!
Hey, Thanks for the kind words.
WHAT !!! NO TAIL HOOK

Yes to all of the above... Practice, Practice.
I forgot to add that was an awesome landing and takeoff !
Класс!
Must be in Alaska.
It Alaska, up Kink valley.
Wow
Color me F@@@@@@ impressed! That couldn't have been more then 80ft!! And you used only half of it!! You had the weather gods on your side for this ride!
Thanks Samso, Think it's closer to 200' ??
Um yeah, by the aerial shot at :50 that shoal looks to be maybe 100 ft long? Impressive. Is this in Alaska?
@@houndsofvalor Yes in Alaska, think it was over 100' as 3 wingspan's is 100'
@@AKCub907makes sense, thanks. I’m now moving learning to fly to the top of my bucket list. And getting to Alaska!
Where is the drone footage of take-off?
Sadly 😢 I didn't use drone to record the Take Off.
The drone needed a longer runway.
@@luke_skywanker7643 😂👍
Are they going to fly the drone through an open window to get it back or what?
No need for a resume, just show them the video
Where is the bar? All I see is the island. 😂
😂 I Love how you think...
And what exactly was the point of the exercise? Low on gas? Want to cast a line? Wanted to prove something? What?
I’m no pilot, but that was obviously a superb demonstration of skill and control the pilot had over that aircraft. Well done good Sir. Bravo
@@nateklein7342 Thanks Nate, This landing spot is Well within the capability of the Aircraft. 👍
