I cover these phases in much more detail in chapter 8 of my book. My book also includes comprehensive rehabilitation programs for the most common orthopedic injuries and pain issues. Click the link to learn more about my book. a.co/d/dPBig21
I am on year 4. Ankle sprain. All my ligaments and pernoal tendons have healed except for atfl. I ruptured it last year. I had to keep switching piodatrists since I wasn't with how they wanted me to treat. I really recommend you get a tayco ankle brace. Google it. It's a medical type brace there's off the shelve and custom one through a prescription from a doctor. Avoid high impact activities such as running or jumping and maybe jogging until it fully heals. Good luck!. Wish you speedy and successful recovery.
I had an acdf surgery November 2023. I was healing really good but got a trigger point massage by my chiropractor which she said would help promote quicker healing in my neck from surgery. 20:20 high insight I did not need that and wished I hadn’t because whatever she did I started to have discomfort and pain again same places I was healing from when I had surgery. To the point it created a cervical muscle spasm in the left side neck muscle. Doctor said that muscle is attached to all my trap muscles and that’s why they are all in pain. That was 4 Mths ago and I’m still suffering muscle pain in traps/upper back and neck muscles. Would you say I’m still healing from that massage treatment? I did get an MRI and orthopedic says my surgery site looked good and was not impacted by that massage. I did dry needling/PT/injections which none of them helped. I have some days where the pain is not so bad. It mostly bothers me at work bc I use my upper body all day long. Very sorry so long but wanted you to know the background. I gave my 1 yr post op appt with my surgeon end of this month. I’m hoping for some answers. Thank you.
Does surgery count as an injury? That's the only thing i can remember where i was told that my recovery would be a couple weeks and that i shouldn't lift anything heavy. I recall feeling better after a week, but i still waited to do the things i had before. Anyway, thanks Tom!❤😊
Thank you sir for providing a clear idea about the phases of healing but sir is acl ligament can undergo self healing because of high blood supply compared to other ligaments normally ligaments takes to heal so what about the acl
I am 58. Suffered a degenerative meniscus tear and ACL sprain last July. There have been months I felt almost completely healed...and sadly, reinjured, pivoting off the couch with my foot planted. Now, I feel back to square one. It's been 10 months since initial injury. I've also done PRP and orthopedist suggesting I do another round. Wondering if I'm going to heal and how much longer?! Patience not my strong suit either. I appreciate this channel. Just found you. Want to purchase your book, too.
Sorry to hear about your injury and that you had this recent setback. Both of these injuries can take quite a while to heal (usually 8-12 months) and can flare-up if the knee joint is twisted or stressed beyond its capacity. My book has a comprehensive meniscus and ligament injury program in the knee chapter. Here is an Amazon link, if you want to learn more about the book. a.co/d/gA9hbW4

Yes, definitely. Surgery would also count as a type of soft tissue injury.

The ACL also requires quite a bit of healing time (9-12 months). Remodeling will still be evident past 12 months.
