How to respond to accidents when Potty Training

No matter what age you begin introducing the potty to your child, all children go through 3 stages before becoming toilet independent/potty trained.
🩷 Developing awareness
💚 Practising skills and
💙 doing it independently.
Nobody likes cleaning up wee and poo or having their soft furnishings and carpets destroyed, so it's understandable that parents put a high priority (and a lot of pressure) on preventing accidents.
Accidents are a valuable part of the learning process, however and the focus should be on creating those pottytunities, learning body awareness and practising those skills - building self esteem as they move towards independence once these skills have been mastered.
So don't over prompt out of fear of accidents, trust them to get to know their bodily signals!
