You guys are doing a great job, it’s great how this generation it’s a partnership that handles potty training etc. I’m a mum of the 80’s and it was all up to us mums at that time. The dads didn’t change nappies/diapers or bath, feed and dress babies/toddlers. Different era. My daughter and son in law are the same as you both, it’s a team effort. Well done 💋❤️ from Cobbitty NSW Australia 🇦🇺

I’m sorry to disagree with you there, my youngest son was born in 1989 and my hubby would always bath him when he got home from work and he’d change nappies if I was doing something else, he would take both our boys for a walk every afternoon while I prepared dinner, it was always a team effort for us when we had our children, he has always been a hands on Dad and loved it, he was so excited when our eldest son started to walk and I surprised him with that when he got home from work, I guess it depends on your situation but generation has nothing to do with it as far as I’m concerned. Cheers from Queensland Australia 🇦🇺

💓Hi Milabu! I’m the mom of an autistic child and he was potty trained in 3 days b/c of his therapy team’s help. Those same tactics that I used on him I used on my two year old and it had the same effect. Dont give up!

I owned a daycare in my home for over a decade and I potty trained so many toddlers and we used a timer ( to remind myself) and a sticker chart for them to put a sticker on every time they used the toilet. It worked like a dream.

You two just crack me up. Im a grandma with 2 kids of my own. I remember potty training being a bit stressful. But once you get the routine down with your child, it starts flowing thru. You make it seem so easy, but just remember every child is different. Some are easier than others. Not that your doing something wrong. Its just they all learn at there own pace, like everything else.
Thanks for bringing back those times to memory. I can just laugh remembering how sweet it was. Another great video from you two. 💖

One trick that I learned about potty training was to have the child choose his underwear. Since they are soo excited about it being new, they will get upset if they dirty it!! It worked with my two daughters!! Now nighttime training is a whole other ballgame but it does make it easier when the child gets trained in the daytime!!! Best of luck!!! 💕💕

One thing that worked for our family is waiting until our kids were almost three years old to start training. We wanted to send them to pre-K3, and potty training was required....Our kids at 3 were more mature mentally to understand our goal and were motivated because they knew they'd get to go to school with friends, a backpack and lunchbox and all that fun stuff
Waiting till 3 years old meant that compared to our friends who started at 2, our kids learned a LOT faster and had almost zero 'accidents'. Just that one extra year of brain development seems to make a big difference.
Of course, different things work for different families - I'm just hoping to point out that parents are allowed to choose their own schedule for this (if that works for them) instead of going by common societal expectations.

This is what I did too with all 4 of my kids. They were between 3 and 3.5. They caught on quickly with literally zero accidents

Glad I'm over that though. I was a very lucky one with the training of my three.

Many many years ago (in 1998) I had my daughter. She was really a perfect baby it was amazing although I did not know it at that time even though everyone told me. when she was 2.5 she potty trained in 1 week ( it was really 2 days but I did not trust it for another 3). The week she trained was the week we brought her baby brother home. The reason I decided to potty train her was that I was not willing to pay for diapers for 2 children at once. Due to all this I was thrown for a loop when my 2nd born refused to potty train till he was 3.5 to 3.75. I had to tell my mom " It will be OK he won't go to kindergarten in a diaper" she was understandably very concerned but when he was ready he got it and he is a 21 year old now. Every child is different and I knew that well as I was a nanny before I was a mommy and I worked at a daycare before I was a nanny. I will say I think boys are harder to train and you have to give them so much more reassurance and treats and "special Potty's" but it all works out.

I just did this too. I found after a few day my kiddo could at least hang in there for a couple of hours so if he hasn’t gone on his own by then or asked to go. I ask him and say the same after we can go back to whatever is going on. And we potty before going anywhere and when we get back too. And before sleeping and after also.

My older 2 were so easy potty trained by 2 1/2 but my now 4 year old still won't verbally let me know when he has to go if I don't take him to the potty every 10 min he will have an accident and he is not affected at all by being all wet the struggle is real with this one

My oldest son was potty trained around the same age as your son, but(not to scare you) when he went to kindergarten, he came home once or twice with "poo" in his pants. I think because it was a "new" environment" plus maybe a little of the emotional trauma of being away from home(I don't believe he went to pre-school-can't remember it's been SO long).

I always used positive reinforcement when potty training my kids. With my boys their favorite thing was for my to throw a few Fruit Loops into the toilet and then let them "sink" them by peeing on them. 😆. It worked like a charm! (I literally kept a little container of the cheap/generic Fruit Loops in each of the bathrooms.) Daddy initially showed them how to *SINK THE FRUIT LOOPS* ...bc obviously Daddy has the proper equipment. 😁
Not only does it make "peeing in the toilet" fun, it gave them something to aim at! If you have little boys, YOU KNOW! 😉

My first daughter was so easy because she hated getting her diaper or panties wet or dirty. Daughter number 2 was the worst ever. She would sit on the potty chair 2 hrs and stand up and wet everywhere. Daughter 3 was middle of the road, not super easy nor really hard. Each child is so different.

What tips do you recommend for a first time Mom, and a toddler who is delayed? My son will be 3 in December, and showed no interest in the potty till about a month ago.

Also, like Milana did, introduce to him a potty or a seat. I just did that with my son that is 3 and he basically wanted to imitate us.

My son was later, around 3. Every kid develops at different times, there isn't really a rush. If he is starting to be interested now, start slowly. I did similar to them by just spending a few days in underwear and asking or setting a timer to try to potty. I also let him pick out his own underwear which got him excited and used a sticker chart in the bathroom. We stayed away from pullups unless we were going out or in a longer car ride in those first few weeks. It's all about their body and them learning to recognize the signals. Also, nighttime will take much longer usually. Good luck!

I trained my boys by putting them in regular underwear (not Pull ups). They didn't like the feel of being wet so would use the potty.

Same! Both my sons were trained at 1 because we used cloth nappies and straight to pants. Apparently they learn fast if they can feel the wetness next to their skin. Modern day disposable nappies absorb so well that the child doesnt always know they’ve wet.

My daughter was being taken care of by a woman I found through the hospital that had a certificate to take care of children at her house. When I sent her there she was not potty trained because my mother broke her ankle and could not take care of her while she was in the wheelchair so my daughter was potty trained by the woman and we didn't have to worry about it

the longer you wait to take away diapers the harder training will be. It should never become a habit for a walking, talking toddler to make number 2 in diaper. I think training from birth is the answer like many cultures around the world.

My grandson was easy. It was him and I M-F So we left off his underwear and We put a tiny toilet in the dining area with a towel underneath started off with him just sitting on it then he decided he liked watching paw patrol while he went potty. 🤣. My youngest Granddaughter was harder.

The "training underwear" needs a separate plastic underpants that goes over it.

If I could give you three words of advise. Don't do it! For boys wait until at least 3 your daughter will be ready at the same time ,
