I'm truly excited that they're doing their event in August a whole 2 months early!! I think this will help Google and Pixel because I think the October release was to late in the year!! Great things coming, I think Google just needs to do a few things to make Pixel 9 and future devices perfect!
My girlfriend is still on the pixel 6 and has always been jealous of my telephoto camera on my pro but she hates big phones. Nice to know I can finally upgrade her to a telephoto without the big size increase!
I prefer smaller phones too, I got a larger phone due to larger one having better specs. For larger screen unless it's a foldable feels very clunky, and in an odd size area where watching videos is almost the same as the smaller phone as it's not a huge difference
I honestly don’t care that tensor g4 isn’t a massive upgrade in geekbench or whatever. If they can reign in the thermals a bit and put a better modem on there, in par with maybe qualcom’s best from a year or 2 ago that's upgrading the weaknesses I care about most in a pixel. Very few of us actually take advantage of all that processing power, on device AI may change that but most AI these days is not on device.
@@daytonaukpc9387 By your standards I’m sure it already is. I’m hoping the fundamentals are better that's all. They should be if it's basically last year’s chip.
I have a bay blue pixel 8 pro that i told myself id keep as my main phone for at least 4 years but if a pixel 9 releases in light pink, i will buy that. Light blue and light pink are my favorite colors, i will dive in head first. I also love the new camera design, its a very unique kind of cyberpunkish design, like something youd see in a scifi type move or in cyberpunk
It's in testing currently, so they have a while to get it going, I don't think TSMC can even make bad chips anymore, HOWEVER I'm not going to say buying a Pixel 9 series is a bad idea, other people will say that ¯\_(ツ)_/¯
Actually probably would be better for you to grab a 9 assuming Google does switch to their own chip next year. The first TSMC pixel will probably have a few hiccups that would get ironed out in the 2nd gen chip.
For those with any pixel 6. We got 2 years and 2 months left of support. Thought i throw that out there for anyone. Pixel 5a ends in 3 weeks and 4a(5G) ends in 8 months this two are weird.
I'm going to hold out for the pixel 10, especially if tsmc is the new fab. I'd consider a galaxy or one plus, but call screening is the feature that keeps me on a pixel device.
I am considering getting this one as my first pixel phone, but I really don't like that shape design :( . I really liked their previous design with more smooth edges. Sad...
I'm in the same boat. Coming from iPhone, wanting to make the switch to Pixel. The design of 9 is very lackluster compared to the 8. And also the protruding cameras just seem very odd to me. Don't really know if i'll get it to be honest. *shrugs*
What's the difference between how the Pixel 9 is supposed to look compared to the iPhones you two are using? The only difference I see is that instead of the cameras being in a largely protruding square block they are in an oblong rectangle and it only has a dot for the selfie camera instead of that ridiculously huge "island" taking up such a large portion of the screen
I can't wait! I'm truly a Google pixel user! I am a Google advocate too! I have pixel 4a 5g, pixel 5, pixel 6 pro, pixel 7 pro and pixel 8 pro as my personal phone! ❤😂❤
I am beyond excited for this new redesign!! I love pixel so much I have a pixel 7 right now and I love it but I definitely will be buying the pixel 9 a couple months after it comes out so I can wait for the price to go down. I love how it has a design similar to the iPhone with the more flat edges but it also has the signature camera bar that you see in all of the pixels!
Oo, and fingers print scanner on back of the phone. And a certified permanent button on either side for assistants....with nice finishes.... The camera on the corners are a great idea idea, love the cameras on corner of the screen. I would love the fingers print scanner on side are on back, it does more when on back of the phone like scroll down toggles.
The camera bar shape against the chassis shape looks off. The corner curves have the same radius but the camera bar forms an oblong. If they made the bar a bit taller to match the rectangle shape of the chassis it could have been more aesthetically pleasing
I feel the same way at times I really like it depending on the color scheme, then I'll look at it & think God dang it why did they mess the pixel up it was so beautiful.
Genuinely a problem with androids right now. What's with all the massive PRO phones getting all of the flagship level hardware? If the 9 pro gets that treatment at a smaller screen estate and rounded corners, I'm all for it. Will not buy an iPhone still.
I REALLY hope they fixed the battery issues. I haven't had a google phone since the last nexus phone. When I finally left iOS back to android, it was for the pixel 8 pro. I love the clean android/google experience. BUT... the battery heating and LIFE issues, are pushing me closer to the Samsung and even reconsidering going back to apple, depending on what they do with the iPhone 16. But I will see what the pro 9 reviewers have to say about it before I jump ship.
A smaller Pro will definitely be nice... the camera bar changing to an island is horrible though, as are the flat sides. Round the corners yet make a sharp edge around the entire front and back of the phone?! Contoured or rounded edges not only look better but also feel much better and more natural in hand, and in pocket.
I own a pixel 8, the biggest selling point for me was the size and the stock android great design, and looking at this upcoming pixel 9 pro form factor, I'm all for it, definitely trading my pixel 8
I just want them to do better quality control and better optimization on Android with the hardware. The amount of OS level bugs and crashes on a phone made by Google is simply unacceptable, especially when they charge you upward of $700
Yeah that will never happen with Google cause every Pixel generation has hardware issues and OS bugs as you mentioned. It's almost as if they do it on purpose...
The monthly firmware updates are even worse. Bug city I wish they'd go to a 2-month cadence instead of 1-month & really work the bugs out of it Even Pixel Watch (2) suffers from buggy junk updates alongside the feature drops
Currently using the pixel 7 pro, I think it's time to upgrade to the pixel 9 pro. I love the new design. I didn't see any reason to upgrade to the 8 pro, so I skipped it. I love the boxy feel, looking forward to the camera upgrades
Why is it called the Pixel 9 Pro XL, when it's exactly the same size as the pixel 8 Pro and there's nothing XL about it? I was hoping for something slightly bigger than my P8P so they can get a bit bigger battery in Surely it should be called pixel 9 Pro mini and pixel 9 Pro and there isn't an XL model Really hoping Pixel Watch 3 has a much bigger battery
The size and form factor was by far the most enticing thing about the original Pixel Fold. But making it a dull, generic foldable is probably better for sales, I guess.

Those are overly rounded corners. They take away too much from the display corners. I understand people like rounded corners, but I would like smaller radiuses at least.

Tensor g4 leaked benchmarks seem to similar to g3 besides the upgraded npu or ISP. Would love to see vapour chamber design which is huge ask since pixel isn't performance focused until Apple does it
Maybe it's me. But I really hope Google doesn't keep higher storage options only for the boring colors. I really like the minty green pixel 8 & 8a, but they are only available in 128g, deal breaker
The punch hole camera at the front most likely can be hidden by adding a black bar in the developer options like before., but the camera "block" at the back is so ugly! I hope there will be cases hiding it completely and making the back plane.
Ok yes it may look similar to iPhone but it's about having an android and NOT an iPhone also with the lack of rounded sides in theory they should be able to fit more hardware into their device.
