Mercedes M119 motor camshaft advance mechanism. Mine was jammed.

    Awesome Victor, we meet again. I had a fuel pump failure giving really odd symptoms like a bad computer. But all it was is failing fuel pumps. So now I find this cam advancer issue also with poor mileage and power is okay but not what it should be in a 220 hp M104. Ive also got a bad advancer and needing to troubleshoot and repair it.

    Thanks my 92 500 has an intermittent flat spot on hard acceleration. Acts like an advance problem / throttle body. One more thing to check before buying a shit load of tune up parts for no reason especially after installing triple platinum Bosch plugs a year ago.

    Hi there , thank you for the informative video.I have a 1995 c220 w202 m111 Mercedes
    .I had issues with the variable timing cam where I disassemble it by accident while changing the timing chain .I ended up bending the valves 5 times on the cylinder head .of course I did also set the the timing wrong at 20 degrees before top dead centre .I would like to know how the variable timing camshaft works on that particular model of car and what is the position on the cam gear when the car is not running

    I stumbled on this same problem on my w203 1.8l C230kompressor. My cam plunger was actually broken requiring me to weld it back together, file it smooth and re-install.

    Is it the same as m120 v12 cam adjuster. Can you explain how it works. Is it fully mechanical advance with the solenoïde pulling the helical gear inside And Goes advance. And when it is going of the spring pushing it back with help of rotation speed. Am I right? The gear helical 20 degrees or so. So no oil pressure to adjust Anything?

      Yes, same as M120. No, still uses oil pressure to push camshaft along a helical gear from the sprocket.

    Does that thing have to be rotated to a certain spot before putting the magnet assembly back on?

    Hi Victor I have a 91 SL500 with a leaking exhaust camshaft seal, do I need to remove the rocker box covers to get the housing off to replace the seal, do you have a link to show how this is done, love your work very easy to follow

    Hi Victor, thanks for the great videos. My 91 500SL has camshaft magnet leaking from connectors. So I ordered a new one but need to replace the armature (the thing you are pulling out in video) as the new part number requires it as an updated version. Can I replace the armature without taking the cover off, as it only has a new screw that goes in the middle. Do I need any adjustments. Please advise?

      Its been long time ago that I fixed that stuck armature so I dont remember. I think you can just undo center bolt and armature will come out without removing valve covers. Sometime putting silicone around connectors stop leaks

    Hi Victor. Thanks for this video. I think i have similiar situation in my w140 500SE 1992. Can you describe a little more how car is working before that ? My car sometimes stuck on rpms and cant accelearte. Normlayy car runs fine, no misfiring or something. But sometimes car stuck on 2000rpms and dont want go higher.

    hi victor you are very helpful i need your help please. from where the idle valve get its currnt electricity i change the mas air module and nothing i change also the temp sensor /the coold start injiction get 12 volt all the time (need to work only for 3 sec in 5volt and no signel to change egr valve while the car hot maybe all related? thanks !
