After 14 years of workplace microagressions, I have mild IBS and I cant stop tugging at my hair. I'm planning my escape in a few months but I have no energy. Humiliation really hurts.

Thank you for sharing your experience. It takes a lot of courage to open up about something so personal and painful. Workplace microaggressions can have a profound impact on both mental and physical health, and it’s not uncommon for that stress to manifest in ways like IBS or hair pulling.
Humiliation cuts deep because it challenges our sense of self-worth, and over time, it can feel like that inner critic becomes louder, attacking us even when others are not. This self-directed frustration often arises as a way to cope with feelings of helplessness or powerlessness in toxic environments. But it’s not a reflection of who you are-it's a natural response to an unnatural situation.
Planning your escape is a powerful step. It’s a sign of your resilience and desire to prioritize your well-being, even when energy feels scarce. Be gentle with yourself during this time. Small acts of self-compassion-like journaling, deep breathing, or simply reminding yourself that this situation is temporary-can make a big difference.
When you're ready, consider exploring practices that help restore balance to your nervous system, like mindfulness, neurofeedback, or connecting with a supportive therapist or community. You deserve to feel safe, valued, and whole.
Sending you strength and encouragement as you move toward a healthier, more peaceful chapter. 💛

@Neurofeedbacktraining Thank-you so much for your response. I really needed that. You question everything and feel like a piece of gum under someone's shoe.

Hi Dr. Baker! Does neurofeedback can help people with suicidal ideation?

Hi, thanks for your question and my apologies for the delay in responding. First off, if you feel like you are possibly going to harm yourself, please reach out to the national suicide hotline: 1-800-273-TALK(8255) or call 911. Immediate connection with someone who cares can make all the difference. Neurofeedback trains the brain to re-regulate and as a potential outcome from de-stressing, clients report feeling greater emotional regulation, calmer, more hopeful and better able to focus and follow through with goals. It also helps with sleep management. Despite these potential benefits, it's important to approach neurofeedback as part of a comprehensive treatment plan. Suicidal ideation is a complex issue that often requires a multi-faceted approach, including therapy, medication, lifestyle changes for improved exercise and sleep, and support from loved ones. Thanks again for your question! Keep educating yourself!
