Darby is underrated. Brian "Too Loud" McLeod (R.I.P.) was an equally important part of this band with his unique guitar playing rippin' those power chords!
Saw them at the Calgary Exhibition & Stampede a few times. They did not disappoint. Darby Mills is a unique talent. A lot of my American family saw her and them back in the day and they were blown away by her voice and the band playing live. At the Stampede, one show had Prism as well (sans Ron Tabak sadly but still very good) and other great Canadian Bands as well. They were all fantastic live and without auto-tune. The Headpins were extremely LOUD! Still suffering from Tinnitus from AC/DC and them. Lol. Just awesome. Thanks again for the coverage. Greatly appreciated.
She's RnRoll Royalty.. she's the lady with the heart of gold and pipes of steel!!!!!!!! She's still selling out venues too.............. MAGNIFICO!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I had this album on cassette when it was new, and I played it at levels that nearly remodelled the house! Darby's still a knockout BABE, and she's still got the rock'n'roll guts that set that band on fire! Her one-of-a-kind voice is a cross between a cat in heat and a Euclid rock truck!!! If you ever read this, Darby, THANKS FOR THE MUSIC! :)
Listening to this on December 31 2018 here in Texas. I went to visit some of my relatives in Ontario in 1979 and 1983. I bought a Headpins album with this song, two Toronto albums (Looking For Trouble and Girls Night Out) and a guy cousin got Pyromania by Def Leppard for me.
I passed Darby Mills on the street in Vancouver back in the mid-eight's. I said to her Darby Mills, of the rock band The Headpins? And she replied OH YEAH HOW'S IT GOIN' UH-HUH YEAAAHH!!
i was at a show this year and the Headpins were opening for Nazareth what an awesome show the two bands did Darby Mills was just walking around the arena after her show and was letting people take selfies with her was pretty cool
I bet that was a great concert. I have two Toronto albums and one Headpins album that a cousin in Kapuskasing, Ontario gave to me in 1979 and 1983 when I went to visit some of my relatives there and in Toronto.
Wow. I'm surprise she can still hit those highs. Great performance. Amazing that there are still bands out there that are just as good if not better live than on vinyl. Of course they're all in their 40's but still. Good to see and hear.
Darby can sing some rock and roll that's for sure! She is up there with Ann Wilson!..But...not the same band for me without "Too Loud". I still listen to the 1982 debut album. The volume pedal stuff in the bridge for "Breaking Down" is freaking amazing, not to mention the whole lead itself...the ambulance siren pull-offs always amazed me."fuggetaboutit!" Brian you are missed my good Canadian brother! Love Headpins too! Keep rockin' Darby."
Still just an amazing voice and riff, song kicks ass to this day, Darby dissent get enough love for one of the most iconic voices in Canadian music history.
YES DARBY MILL S ROCKS I NET HER 40 YEARS AGO WHILE I WAS PLAYING HOCKEY FOR VERNON AND WOW SHE WAS BEAUTIFUL AND LATTER WAS THER WHEN THEY RECORED LIVE AT CARRIBOO HOTEL THIS WAS UNBELEIVABLE DARBY AND HEAD PINS STILL ARE #1 RICK TKALCIC
Well Canada, I'm here in the states, musician of course, but I travel the land proclaiming the greatness of Darby. Sadly, no one will "gladly" admit THEIR favorite female rocker ain't even ridin' shot gun. Back seat for all except Ann Wilson. My guess for no recognition has got to be the name. Were they planning on being the greatest bowling alley band ever? I NEVER got it. How about just **DARBY**! I have never seen a first album list only ONE band member until theirs. She is 1 of a kind
Love Headpins and Darby Mills. She sure can sing, man what a voice, and isn't a slouch in the looks department either. She's coming here to Victoria B.C. Friday on her solo tour, the Darby Mills project. I'm going to see her. Should be a great time, and tickets are only $20, $25 at the door.
The Headpins were the back up band in Edmonton for Streetheart. The Headpins played and most people left afterwards! Hard to go from a great band like this to Kenny Shields cooing 12 year old girls. I managed to catch a guitar pick that was flicked into the crowd. It said The Headpins on it. Held onto it for many years.
Back "in the day" my friends and I, we called the Headpins, "The Pinheads" but not in a mean way. Was just our way. lol. We loved Darby actually because she ROCKED!!!! Yeah, I'm old, (getting an upgrade to my heart soon even, gonna' be a cyborg!) but good memories and a good life. I have no regrets. Thanks Darby and company.
I'm old now but in the late eightes we had a killer trio rush tribute band. Although none of dared try copping geds vocals. We wrote very syncopated rock and If we had this singer we would be on easy street now, if only 🤔
If she got to perform this at Grammy Awards, she would blow the roof to pieces I'm sure. And all those artists who come to that show will feel less confident. Turn It ... Louuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuud ...
Hot! Hey, if women can scream and throw panties at guy singers and not even know the names of their songs, I can get away with telling Darby shes HOT, AND I at least know their songs. Fan since '88!
Love these guys, and love that song...but either the guy on the board has it mixed wrong, or the cell phone isn't picking anything much other than guitars. and *some* of the vocals. :-(
What are you going to do with that Led Zeppelin when you put it on the turntable .....the audience shouts crank it up...ok she sings a song called ''Turn it loud'', she[Darby]as an Album called ''Turn it Loud'' she as done I think like 5 tours called ''Turn it Loud'' her signature song and where she got her nickname scream queen from was the intro to ''Turn it loud'... so why are you all yelling crank it up? just saying.
hi guys i attended your show at The RedRock great show n great to see your support!! I had a chance to record a few of your songs, checkm out n subscribe.. cheers #Howard Cole w/ Metalduck212 Producktions.
One of the best female rock star voices ever!
What next ? Janis Joplin, Tina Turner, Nina Hagen you know??
Darby is underrated. Brian "Too Loud" McLeod (R.I.P.) was an equally important part of this band with his unique guitar playing rippin' those power chords!
I had the pleasure of seeing them back in the early 80's...Darby kicked ass then, and she does now...she rocks it
This performance deserves a million views
Saw them at the Calgary Exhibition & Stampede a few times. They did not disappoint. Darby Mills is a unique talent. Darby is incredible. Love that voice even more today then when this song came out... looking amazing as well. You've still got it lady...
This is the best live version of this song, from the 2000s, that I've seen and heard here on TH-cam.
Saw her and them many times. She is just fantastic. Thanks for the coverage!
She's RnRoll Royalty.. she's the lady with the heart of gold and pipes of steel!!!!!!!! She's still selling out venues too.............. MAGNIFICO!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
AWESOME!!!!!!!!!!!! \m/

What REAL rock is all about my friend......
Unbelievable that Darby can still hit those notes at her Age! I send Best Wishes to her and the band for much success!
I always loved this girls vocals.
I remember her not stalking me...
Saw them years ago, when they went on the "Lock Up Your Sons" tour with Toronto, still rockin it!
I bet that was a great concert. I have two Toronto albums and one Headpins album that a cousin in Kapuskasing, Ontario gave to me in 1979 and 1983 when I went to visit some of my relatives there and in Toronto.
she is freakin amazing. Live pipes as good as her recorded pipes.
thanks for sharing... i hope i get a chance to see them live myself...
Wow. I'm surprise she can still hit those highs. Great performance. Amazing that there are still bands out there that are just as good if not better live than on vinyl. Of course they're all in their 40's but still. Good to see and hear.

Finally..they are coming to Bville...can't wait!!
Crazy. Great best female rock goddess ever!!! Love you Darby

Still cranking! It may be cliche to say but what an unappreciated vocalist and band. The real thing. Forget the posing- just floor it!
OMG this woman ROCKS! Gotta love those hot Okanagan summer nights. Rippin it up in K-town or down the Peach city! Darby is 100% class!

Oh yeah, she STILL looks good,...and sounds great as well.
You go girl! Love ya!
Darby can sing some rock and roll that's for sure! She is up there with Ann Wilson!..But...not the same band for me without "Too Loud".
