Marko sounds great with Tarja, with Floor, with Charlotte. Basically, with anyone he sings with. I think he just knows how to harmonize and bring out the best in his partner's vocals.

Delain ft. Marco Hietala - "Sing to Me", Silver Spring 2015 (poor audio quality), but the video shows Marko's sense of humor. When he returns to stage he surprises both the band and the audience with his choise of attire. Charlotte's facial expression is worth seeing.
Marko played bass on one Delain album years ago. He did audio engineering too. He has sung on some tracks on many Delain albums and performed live with Delain many many times. The last time was not long, maybe a month, ago in Switzerland. The first time with the new female lead of Delain.
You need to check out "we are the others" by delain about the murder of sophie lancaster. Check the official studio version as this gives a bit of insight to the meaning of the title

I concur. Charlotte is a special singer I hold in similar regard to Floor.

Marko is a really good singer, no wonder he won the Finnish Masked Singer competition a couple of years ago. He is similar to Floor in a way, he can change the singing style easily and sing in that style excellently. Also, we have seen him sing with different people together and he has always been able to match himself with the other person's singing. Rock, metal, pop, folk and musical - really anything and with anyone.
Marko has been involved with Delain in some way since their first album. And is also included in the last album (in one song), which has a completely new lineup.
On the first album, Marko played the bass parts of each song and the necessary male vocal parts. Marko was also part of Delain's European tour in 2017. And has occasionally been singing with them in different contexts, for example when Delain was Nightwish's support band on the North American tour. Marko probably sang a song with Delain at every gig.
I saw Delain this summer and the music style has changed a bit, natural of course with different people and a different singer. But still the same songwriter (keyboard player), so a very similar style, but not exactly the same.
Delain's live version with Marko, this could be good for the next Delain + Marko song.

Marko Hietala (pron: HEE-ah-Tallah) is a classically trained guitarist, bassist, songwriter and incredible vocalist both solo and in harmony.
Marko has his solo band, Tarot and is currently touring summer festivals for his solo project, Pyre of the Black Heart.
Tarot is the band Marko founded with brother in the early 80s. There are some nice comparisons from Markos earlier days compared to much more recent like Wings of Darkness, th-cam.com/video/VimogVM3i9Y/w-d-xo.html (1986 I think) and th-cam.com/video/xD1q21dr8tw/w-d-xo.html from 2011.
Tarot pretty much ended in 2016 when their original drummer Pecu died. They did however appear live this summer.
The little guitarist on the left is Merel Bechtold, a great guitarist who was very underrated in Delain. She left the band a few years ago to form her own band, Dear Mother, along with Joey Marin de Boer, ex-drummer also of Delain, and vocalist David Pear. I leave you his debut song, 12 years in exile.

You should check out some of Charlotte’s solo stuff as well, her albums Tales from Six Feet Under Vol. I & II. Some songs from them are available as music videos on TH-cam. Her songs are overall very dreamy, creative and captivating.
Charlotte is up there with the best of them in metal. Try Delain's Masters of Destiny and Charlotte's Soft Revolution, for starters.
Thanks! I love Delain. "We Are The Others" ( a bit like Kobra and the Lotus "Light Me Up") - strong message. "Starlight", "Sing To Me", "Masters of Destiny".... Charlotte was and is gorgeous in so many ways! Live is always great! Charlotte appeared with Kamelot too - "Under Grey Skies" (live).

Martin Westerholt is the only member to continue on after the 2021 breakup. Diana Leah is the new singer. Longtime singer Charlotte Wessels went solo.

Charlotte did a collaboration with EPICA and Myrkur last year (EPICA- Sirens of Blood and Water). Yes. Marko has an awesome voice, suggest the Nightwish cover/tribute of Pink Floyd's High Hopes from their 2005 Helsinki concert (End of an Era DVD) where he sang lead.
Just like Floor, Marko also has a range of 3 octaves. Along with Troy, it's why 2014-2021 Nightwish had harmonies for days.

Yes, TQ&tC is a good intro to the new lineup, very catchy. Note Marko guests on one of the tracks on the new album, so he must still have a good relationship with them (I bought the album and am not disappointed).

Before Nightwish I knew Marko H as a lead singer of Tarot. NW was lucky to get him at that time (Tuomas Holopainen was afraid that he would refuse.)

Charlotte was such an Voice and Look to behold. The Band still is one of the surely better generic Symphg Metal Gigs, and this particular Song is sure very generic.But beeing an Wessels Fan Boy, i miss this Times:)

Delain are good, but they are easily one of the more generic of the popular symphonic metal bands. Their 'secret weapon' was their vocalist Charlotte Wessels, but she split with them before their latest release and now they're even more generic (but still good... don't get me wrong). Let me suggest a new band so you're not always stuck on (the excellent) Nightwish and Epica:
