The fact that this was an official ad for Japanese tourism is possibly the MOST Japanese thing ever.
This one is a Japanese classic. The last version was four ladies and a heavy metal backing band called The Chaos. One of the girls, Emily took over screaming duties. Emily is noe the screamer in Passcode. Don't forget their current iteration through the management company Heroines. After Sakura left, I haven't really kept up with the current lineup at all though since Emily hasn't done anything with them after that.
Original Ladybaby are simply hilarious. There are three more music videos in the original formation: "Age-Age Money" - "Renge Chance !" - "C'est si bon Kibun". If you feel like having a good laugh with good music again, then watch these videos.
Be sure to check out the band of the black-haired singer, Kuromiya Rei. The band is called BRATS and has made some very good rock songs, the last song the band released is called Spiderweb and is very experimental and different than the previous BRATS songs, but for us it is one of the best songs we have ever heard so far.
The other significant factoid is that Rei Kuromiya, Japanese vocalist and gravure idol / model, left to form the band BRATS with her sister Aya. They recently disbanded but were a really good J-Punk band. Rei had had some unpleasant experiences in the music business and chose to write about them with songs like Kimarigoto (rules) and Excuser. She is one of the very few artists in Japan who did constantly not pump out music with optimistic lyrics making BRATS wonderfully angsty, but in a very Japanese way.
She does play guitar and did in BRATS, but not in this song.
Rie did gravure modeling, I don't remember Rei ever doing any

Ladybeard’s new group Babybeard has a song “Nippon Kira Konnichiwa” that’s a lot like this one and would be a good one to check out. It would also be great to see a reaction to Rei’s band Brats “14 Year Old Disease”
Yes, the BRATS song “14 Year Old Disease” really has a badass music video, especially for a debut music video by teenagers.

I love LadyBeard! He came to my country to an anime convention last year, I didn't have the chance to see his performance bc it was in the 2nd day and I only had tickets for the 1st but he talked to the fans and he was really nice!!

As far as I know the first few songs were financed by a costume rental. And they used the costumes in the MVs. My favorite song is age-age money. Also super fun and silly song with surprising deep lyrics about capitalism 😅

Neither were playing instruments in this as far as I am aware.
However, 1 of the 2 idols does have or had her own band with her sister that is actually pretty good and worth a look.

Ladybaby isn't exactly a new group. It was formed in 2015 and they split up like 2 years ago. They recently brought it back to life through an Idol agency, but the current version is more Idol than anything else.
Also, I'd like to mention that in the Alt Idol/Kawaii Metal world, Nippon Manju is a legendary song, almost anthem-like.
"Looks like an ad for tourists to come to Japan". That's EXACTLY what this video was made for. A costume company CEO wanted to make a promotional tourism video and wanted to capitalize on the Babymetal phenom that was happening. So..voila! Ladybaby was born. Their story is long and a bit confusing and complicated but in a gist, Ladybeard left, they became a duo, they broke up, Rie formed a new lineup with 3 other girls, had Ladybeard do a couple of cameos, they broke up again, and after a while reformed. Phew...

The bloke is Richard Magarey, he is an Australian Stuntman, professional wrestler, singer and known for his bearded crossdressing persona named LadyBeard. He's also done a song with Nemophila's drummer Tamu Murata called Super D&D.
He had also gone on to start the duo "Deadlift Lolita" with a Japanese female bodybuilder.

Yes they really did play. Rei was on sabbatical from hard rock band Brats at the time. Very talented girls, as are the girls on his latest project
Please also make a reaction video to the band BRATS, the band of the very talented and pretty Kuromiya Rei from this video. BRATS made the opening song for the anime series "To Be Hero", "Ainikoiyo", with which they got their punk rock sound after their debut music video "14 Year Old Disease" was a bit poppier in sound (but more brutal in the images). They then did the theme song for the Japanese film "Slavemen", "Nounai Shoukyo Game", before releasing their two albums, in which the style can be found between punk rock, hard rock and grunge. With their last released song, “Spiderweb,” BRATS went into a completely different, very experimental rock direction.
Not shure if Rie can play the drums, I don't think so, but Rei can play guitar, I saw some videos where she played guitar. Check out some more early Ladybaby, very funny songs and videos. And also take a look at Rei's band BRATS, a very good rock band.

And Ladybeard is still around continuing his wrestling career and has a podcast called Cat with Beard from JAPAN PODCAST with roughly a quarter the number of subscribers as this channel. But if you enjoy podcasts about Japan, it's worth a listen.
There is one thing I hate and another thing I love about ladybaby: I hate that the 3rd generation (for me the best) was dissolved without leaving much of a mark and what I love most about ladybaby is that it gave us Rei Kuromiya with Brats, she was able to dominate the world with her beautiful voice but the universe decided to nerf her for the sake of the plot.🤣🤣

This was the old OG Ladybaby a few years later Lady Beard left one of the girls left they got three more girls one Emily who did the low harsh vocals look up their TH-cam channel. Live their best and last show was at the Liquid Room. If I had known it was their last show I would have made the trip to Japan to see them! Strange now they revised the name with 4 new girls. At first I thought they were hilarious but later they were more serious and pretty dam good music. Emily now is with Passcode another what some people call an IDOL band .
No they have a band like the Kami band called "Chaos".
There were some record company issues apparently for a while, but Ladybeard has reintroduced the concept with two new girls, and they perform as "BABYBEARD".

Glad you enjoyed it , a lot of reactors see this song and then move on but Ladybaby has a lot more to offer in its various format's, i think the 4 girl no Ladybeard version worked best , have a look at Riot Anthem, Starless sky and Haten ni raimei ( which they had a proper backing band for ) , another good one is Pelo which was just the two girls after Ladybeard left
Oh the Ladybeard saga.. thy have gone from their version of "Kawaii metal" being more kawaii than metal. The Group's guitarist ( the dude in tophat and sunglasses Goss by the name "Rolly" who is a legit legend in my mind with his 70's and 80's rock genre songs. Eeijanaika is my favorite" The Girls , Rei and Rie carried on as "The Idol Formerly Known As Ladybaby". After a year of that gig, Rei left to join her sister's heavy Pop trio " BRATS ; who seem to be doing well. Rie carried on with a new MUCH more Metal incarnation of Ladybaby with new members Nana Ikeda, Emily Arima and Fuka Karasawa in 2018. They stayed together until fans getting an announcement in 2019 that ladybaby was disbanding but plan to return in the near future . They returned in 2023 ( minus Rie Kanako, the last original member. with another COMPLETE lineup change. new group members are Ei Tsukimachi , Sena Kurusaki, Mia Kanrei and Rem Serizawa. This new incarnation is just a completely different vibe since Rie 'graduated out' . Haven't heard much from them since.
Rie and Rei are back together making music as Reirie.

The info you read is a bit out of date. Rie is no longer in the band. The whole "LADYBABY" band has been recycled now with new girls by the record company. Basically the record company after this song loved the amount of views it got but didn't understand why this bearded 5 year old giant girl was in the band.. so kicked him out (after a few more vids in this configuration) and got more cute girls (philistines).. so later LADYBABY songs are quite a different line up
In this video.. no.. they don't play the instruments. But Rei (14 with the darker hair) _does_ play guitar.. she started a band called Brats which has some great songs. Unlikely Rie (17 here) plays the drums at all
The guitar solo in this song is done by legendary Japanese guitarist ROLLY - he's very frequently on the show Rock Fujiyama with Marty Friedman
The two girls here have a new project together called REIRIE combining their names. Worth checking out!

I was able to catch BABYBEARD live in 2023. They played their own songs, LADYBABY songs and even a cover of BABYMETAL's Papaya. The gig was also interrupted by an impromptu wrestling match that broke out all over the venue and Ladybeard threw a wrestler into me and later came up to me and stroked my beard lol. Fun times!

Their kawaii metal concept is kinda looks like Babymetal, which is not surprising because the band is inspired by babymetal. They even covered babymetal songs at some of their shows. Their music is similar to babymetal in terms of giving the listener a shocking impression, but it's hard to take it seriously. The difference in why Babymetal's music is more listenable is because of Su-metal's clean vocal, which is different from the high pitch voices of Japanese idols in general that some people will find it annoying and noisy.
I prefer Rei and Rie's vocals than Sue Metal's. But they are all really talented. (And I don't like Babymetal in the slightest - as I say, very talented but not my thing).
For us, Rei and Su are on the same level, Rie isn't bad, but doesn't come close to either of them.
After hearing LadyBaby or BabyBeard, you can’t take Babymetal seriously any more once you see just how easy this is to do lol
