Epica - Once Upon a Nightmare from Omega Alive should be goosebump-inducing, and has a piano and guitar intro that is possibly the most beautiful melody I have ever heard.
I second this
And yet Simone's voice it's not 100% because she was 3 or 4 months pregnant! Keep your beautiful job and maybe it's time for Epica's astonishing ballads. RIVERS with Epica feat Apocalyptica is a good start! Greetings from Greece, where we will have the chance to see them again in October.
Such a brilliant band! They really need to re - release the video/Bluray of this epic Epica show.

As a drummer, I really appreciate when reactors give the drummer some love! In my opinion….a bad drummer can make a good band sound bad.
Epica’s drummer is Ariën van Weesenbeek. He has a background in death/black metal. His double bass chops are masterful.
They call him the “Beast”! As you can see….for good reason! If you’d like to hear more of his drumming I’d recommend his other band MaYaN. It’s the like the heavier, darker version of Epica.
I’m biased, but Epica is my favourite bad. Not only are they world class musicians…they are wonderfull people too! I saw them in Montreal a while back and they love what they do!
You would definitely love the track….Universal Death Squad. Check out the video for that one!!
Besides the other Epica songs others have suggested, i personally would love The Essence of Silence (live), one of my favorite Epica songs
Funny you mentioned Pirates of the Caribbean, back in 2008 they released a live album called The Classical Conspiracy, and it included sone classical music covers and movie soundtrack covers INCLUDING a Pirates Medley

Same concert as the Sancta Terra video you watched. Yep, 3 hours, and 24 songs. This was the 3rd song in the set, and Simone was about 3 months pregnant too. From the 4th album, Design Your Universe, released in 2009. Lyrics by Simone. Music by Coen ,Mark, and Isaac.
The drummer you are so impressed by is Arien van Weesenbeek, he joined EPICA in 2006 as a session member, permanent since 2007.

Eindhoven is in the Netherlands. Also the Netherlands is were Epica is from! Like Floor Jansen ofcourse...
Hi guys, talking about Dream Theatre; on the last album from the Dutch composer Arjen Lukassen called Universe, their singer is on the show together with worldwide metal singers from Australia, Germany, Belgium, Norway, The UK, another from The US, the guy from Between the buried and Me and of course Simone and Floor with her sister Irene who also sings. And many more artists of music. Try the overview from Ayreon (15 Minutes) with all the famous singers called The day that the world brakes down. Btw, there is another big metal band named Within Temptation and they made The Black Symphony show with the Dutch Famous worldwide travelling Metropool Symphony Orchestra. All together 3 times bigger than what you just experienced talking about players and singers. Like Epica a 100% Dutch matter. Just give a try! Greetings from The Netherlands.
The Metropole Orchestra, that started just after World War II, is famous for their jazz and pop cooperations and has been nominated for over 20 grammy awards (and won a few). The orchestra worked with Ella Fitzgerald and Within Temptation, and many more artists. If you see an artist supported by this orchestra, you know it must be good!
this whole concert was Epic.
I have two views about Headphones, yes you can usually hear more details but when played on a really good speaker setup nothing beats being able to feel the drums hitting you in the chest
but then I may be a little insane having around 1400 watts of subwoofers available, the bass hit a little hard😵💫😵💫

Simone is amazing. If you were impressed by her vocals here, you should watch a new performance of this song from 2023 "Live at the AFAS Live". Incredible, both audio and video! Seriously, what an experience!

3 hours of greatness by Epica and Simone (who was 3 months pregnant at the time) - NL and DK (where I live) are both covered by biking trails along the road, in cities or in the country side..
omega alive has some great new songs like unchain utopia or pt3 heaven something lol i forgot hahha
Simone came with 17years to Epica and is now 39years and is one of the best sopranos in Metall 🤘
