Identity Crisis: After Top Surgery & Hormones, Female Detransitioner Decided She Wanted to Be A Mom

Daisy Strongin was so convinced about her transgender identity that, at 18, she started taking testosterone obtained through an LGBTQ+ clinic in downtown Chicago. Two years later, at 20, she had a double mastectomy. At the time, Daisy wasn’t concerned about the health repercussions she could face, such as sterilizing herself or never being able to breastfeed. But just one year after removing her breasts, Daisy realized it was all a mistake and decided to detransition to fulfill her dream of becoming a mother.
