    Was recently fishing at that pond on the north side of Muldraugh, first fish I caught was a big pike that weighed 14,5 . I did not notice and kept on fishing until my health was at 60% due to the weight of the fish crushing my ancles

      This is how you died: broke your back and knees by having fished too big a fish for you to carry

      Yea bro ! I also caught the pike which was waping 35Kgs! I think that mofo had 13.5Kg fillets 😂😂 Nice times ! Crashed my car to a tree and fractured my shin ... lasted too long so i abandoned lvl 5 fishing dude just like dat

    • @LordGingerBerry

      @@akiamini4006 seems kinda unlikely unless the game got an update allowing larger fish, as far as I know pike max length is 120cm and its weight modifier is 8 at that size, resulting in a max weight of 15 Kgs.

    hello zed survivor! your videos have helped me a ton with zomboid- i’ve got a character who’s survived for about 2 months now (the longest i’ve ever gone lol) and i’m relatively well established but when I try to drive out of my somewhat safe hometown to loot the faraway gun stores, the zombie hordes have gotten crazy big and i have to retreat. could you make a looting guide for early/late game players? thanks!

    Great videos, but gotta say fishing is best with a spear. It rarely breaks and I have caught huge pike (usually between 9-10) and just requires a spear. Either way, it's a good idea is to build a small walled area right next to the lake/river so no zoms can sneak up. Can be as simple as 3 walls, but I like to make a small cabin with a door right next to the water where I can leave my spears and such.

    • @Puschit1
      @Puschit1 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Spearfishing will add exercise fatigue to your arms and I think torso, so there's that. But yes, if you main weapon is spear so you craft them a lot anyway, then it's a logical step to just not bother with extra equipment and bait.

    Worms also appear in composting. Worth mentioning

    • @themonkeyhand
      @themonkeyhand ปีที่แล้ว +1

      adding worms to compost should speed up the process... that could be a mod.

    fishing nets can break if you leave them in water for >15 hours also you can craft them with wire and twine if you know the recipe

    So cute little fishies.
    And they are going to add a lot of new fishes in build 42.
    Plus the way you fish will change now and there will be a mini game playing, kind of like in stardew valley. That's also such a good game.

  • @MRcrysis12351

    What I find mildly annoying is that you cannot learn recipes (for example, the "learn how to fix a fishing rod") from the Life and Living TV show even though it specifically "shows" you how to do it.

    • @andrehashimoto8056
      @andrehashimoto8056 2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      i guess it's for balance, if that recipe (and others that would probably be shown in other shows) became easily available if you just spent the first week in safety of the starting base and watching the shows.... it would become one less thing regarding late game

  • @jackcoder3845

    Worms can be generated by composting rotten food in a composter, so they can be produced fairly steadily without much continuous work. Composters require level 2 carpentry which itself can be a pain but I frequently find myself with carpentry skills for other items such as the rain collector barrel anyways. The composter can only produce worms as it composts food, that is, once it's full it'll stop producing worms. Some agricultural warehouses exist that are full of sacks of fresh fruit and vegetables that will certainly be rotten by the time you get to them, they're absolutely ideal for filling your composters!

    • @Letham316
      @Letham316 2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Alternatively, get a gardening / digging tool and dig a bunch of furrows. You'll dig up some worms in the process. Or better yet, dig with your hands and get some First Aid exp from bandaging up the scratches. 👍

    • @Puschit1
      @Puschit1 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Yeah, digging them up is much faster. And carpentry level 2 isn't difficult at all, you should get that just by watching Live and Living. And if that isn't enough because you picked slow learner or something like that just disassemble a big bed or 2 and you are set.

    You can actually keep your weight up by pure farming but you need a huge amount of food and a high cooking skill to make nutritious soups and stews

    • @andrehashimoto8056
      @andrehashimoto8056 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      still, you need some form of meat.... so unless item respawning is part of your custom sandbox, fishing and hunting will still be a necessity.... unless they decide to add the Option to "harvest" corpse meat if it's still fresh enough and require LENGTHY processing to make it safe (that's until they decide cannibalism needs to have more drawbacks to make players take it only as last resort, such as eating human meat for too long or too much of it will start causing a perma moodlet that affects your fine motor skills, leading to worse accuracy, addiction to human meat and lower your ability to craft, didsassemble and other things that need fine motor skills)

    • @SkillIncarnate
      @SkillIncarnate 2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@andrehashimoto8056 At this point if you grind cooking and farming you can reach the stage where you dont need meat at all. That being said you need to consume huge amounts of vegetables to do this and a tiny bit of meat through foraging, fishing or trapping does the job way way easier

    My character went to sleep and started feeling queasy then his health dropped rapidly
    My character got up with like 5 seconds to live not knowing what was going on then he died
    Don’t eat too much fish guys :(

    What lasts longer freezing or canning food? I found two boxes of jars. :P

    • @nerfherder4284
      @nerfherder4284 3 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      I think technically freezing is longer, but needs electricity. Canning requires other ingredients that can be hard to find, i.e. sugar and vinegar. There is a good mod for jarring fish and/or jarring w/o lids and sugar/vinegar.

    • @paulwei6596
      @paulwei6596 3 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      According to wiki, Jarred food is fresh for 60 days and stale for another 30 days.
      But canning is only available for farming products, and jar lids are hard to get.

    One weird thing about "protein" intake....
    reportedly.... INSECTS HAVE THE HIGHEST Protein value in regards to their weight.... so a didet with insects in it should been covering the necessary protein intake..... sure, it's obvious balance is at play, and it still feel valid and "realistic" (since VERY few cultures have insects as part of their culinary and diet, and almost 100% of them are due to... CONSTANT PERIODS OF MASSIVE STARVATION of the population to the point Stalingrad during WW2 would be considered a nice fairy tale by those cultures if the starvation periods were recent enough)
