  • My new race engine! The Ford Crossflow is back from SRD Motorsport and its an absolute beauty. Can't wait to get this in the Vixen.
MASSIVE shoutout to Andy at Peninsula Historic Motorsport for all his help.

Ooh a pretty 711 ! Who's a lucky boy then ? Regarding manifold using modern Computer flow tests never seems to work on the car . Just had the same sort of thing on friends Kawasaki z1000 he was talked into using inversion cones in the headers to ease negative waves to cylinders blah blah etc . On a pc program it all looked convincing, in reality it shut motor down at 7,000 rpm ! There in the bin now, Try to listen to old School tuners , people who have passed on knowledge. Being of an age I was around when these engines were in production it's wonderful to see them still in action ! Anyway looks like you well sorted for this season so hoping for some good racing .. oh if you break it again me and Big Vinnie will be round for a word in your ear 😂😂

Yeah knowledge is by far the best for tuning old engines. I definitely going to try and no break this one. Racing should be great 👍

Watching with interest. I had my engine rebuilt by SRD, excellent service. Intresting about the 4 - 2 - 1 being the best option. Also interested in who is fabricating your exhaust. By the way mine is for road use so, no competition to you😂.

I have to say I've been very impressed with SRD. Great service. I went through Duncan Reuben for my exhaust but believe the company fabricating it is Tony Law Exhausts. They have a jig for the Vixen and it fits very well

Crazy that a manifold can make you lose HP! Poorly made or just not a good application for your motor?
    Awesome build🤘🏽
Looks like a lot of fun! Great video bro🤙🏽

I couldn’t believe it. It’s a big bore system but apparently it’s to do with it being a 4 into 1 system instead of 4-2-1. Absolute witchcraft.

Top job, that engine looks too nice to race! Good catch about the exhaust manifold. I think it's all too do with the pressure waves and therefore the scavenging between cylinders. All I know is 4:1 is meant to be great for top end and not much else.

My engine also came from SRD. Who's fabricating the manifold for you? It is next on my list.

@@The_Cotswold_Cyclist Yeah it’s amazing isn’t it. The top end was way down on this one

@@Liam-cz9ik So I’ve had to make a little compromise. Duncan Reuben is getting one made for me which has 15” primary and 15” secondary’s. SRD said for peak performance they want 28” primary and 15” secondary but I’d have to get that custom made on the car which I just don’t have time for before the season. Apparently a 15” primary will lose me a little mid range torque but top end should be the same
