Hi Corey, Loved your little fashion show, and especially loved the vintage pants! When you said you were learning about what colors go with your skin tones, it brought back to me a wonderful memory. Give or take 35 years ago, my Godmother decided that I should have my "colors" done. I had no idea what she was talking about, but it turned out to be such a fun day with her. It was around the time that everyone was talking about Dress for Success. The color "specialist" spent quite some time, draping my shoulders with all different color fabrics, checking each one against my skin. Long story short, she decided that I was "a fall with a tendency to spring", so I should wear autumn colors and spring colors. The whole day made me feel very special. I lost my Godmother a couple of years ago, so the memory you provoked was very endearing to me. Thank you. PS. I still wear black, even though it's not MY color!!

I had to add eyelet lace to bottom of shorts, but mostly I used the girl's older jeans to make them shorts at lengths I was pleased with them wearing. Also, your broken clock can be turned into a beautiful picture frame by removing the hands, just an fyi. I can relate to your thrill of the hunt. Out of necessity, due to having 4 kids and only one income, I was a stay-at-home Mom, who upcycled almost every piece of furniture I have had in my home, and all the decorations. The only new items I bought were mattresses, couches, and major appliances, everything else was mostly second hand.
Folding wine racks can be good storage for those thermal water bottles and travel mugs that clutter up the kitchen counter!

I have been dealing with fruit flies my whole 61 yrs but I know how to deal with them now. When you see the first fruit fly put a drop of dish soap in a cup with about a cup of apple cider vinegar and set it somewhere in the room. I usually hide it somewhere out of the way. Next morning all of your fruit flies will be in there dead. Works like a charm. ❤

Thank you! Someone said their goodwill bins charge $0.15 per book so it seems to be all over the place.
You can use the clock that doesn't work as a picture frame. Either remove the workings and insert a picture or fit the picture over the front of the glass. You can always use it as a shadow box for keepsakes after removing the workings. You will have to fashion your own backing. Thank you for the tip about putting on Mod Podge to make the pictures look painted. I will try that on some of my prints too. I also am someone who loves clocks. Working, not working, I love the all the looks and different styles.

Love the books with art.. the metropolitan book has gorgeous art! I'd probably frame most of the book😄 I bought a pair of the Kensie jeans at TJMaxx, nice jeans.. love the utility jacket! My brother was in Viet Nam, he recently passed unexpectedly last November. But the Viet Nam war was in late 60's early 70's. I guess it was some type of rememberance memorabilia 🤷♀️ LOL.. love the costume, great for a pirate! You look so pretty, cute outfits!! I noticed at Walmart they had more longer length shorts out so far this year! Beautiful material!! I 100% 😂relate..i love all my old pieces way more than anything I've ever bought at a big box store! Of course I love those pictures, they look amazing! I've got to get some Modgepodge! My favorite art to collect is Victorian or really old photos of people❤ I have several at pieces & plates by Currier & Ives. (Lol.. kids say the darndest things😂) You always find the best pieces.. and i HATE bugs too🪳🪰 I serve the same living God as you, and that piece is a great find for sure!😊 Omggg all the amazing artwork & frames you found.. i'd be over the moon girl! Ohhh Wow never thought about the wine holder for rolling pins..Cool😊 Awesome clock! Your booth is so nice.. great pieces! Haha I understand! Yes I think framless canvases are more affordable so they are mass produced and sold cheap. Makes sense, and then we can add some frames to them for $5

I know what you mean by "thrill" to get thrifted items for sooo much less; the other day I purchased a huge picture for $20 originally from Zgallerie. Those "oil paintings" you created with MP look amazing. Love your videos. :D btw your booth looks fantastic!

28:20 Have I got a DIY for you, Corey! 😁Get a tiny decorative glass container, and put about an inch of apple cider vinegar inside. Cover the opening with Saran wrap, and poke tiny holes in it. Then put in an unobtrusive spot in your kitchen. It will attract the fruit flies, and every so often you can clean it out and start again. Works like a charm, and is waaaay cheaper than those fruit fly traps they sell at the hardware store. 😁

I just have to share this funny little story. We moved to Conroe many years ago and was always being introduced to new things. While I was unpacking one day this huge cockroach ran across the floor. I got in my car and drove to Houston where my husband was. I said "you will never believe the huge roach in that new house". His partner started laughing uncontrollably and finally said I must have seen a water bug. Whatever he thinks, looked just like a roach to me and it took a long time to get over water bugs.

Many years ago, when I lived in California, my cat found the ugliest bug I had ever seen [long before Google] I was convinced it came from outer space, it was like nothing I had ever seen [it reminded me of something that came from that old Cootie Bug game]. When I told my coworkers, they said it was a "potato bug." I'm from Washington, and those are not what I knew as a potato bug... 30+ years later, it still bothers me.😅

Great video. Try using the mod podge on the canvases as well. Only follow the design of the picture and put several layers of mod podge. It will look like an oil painting or an acrylic.
I loved all your finds. I am a huge history buff so I loved that you put Anne of Cleves picture in the frame. She was of course Henry the 8th’s 4th wife. So cool!
My only granddaughter is 10 and my daughter and I have often discussed how the summer clothes for little girls borders on obscene! I often go to thrift stores to find longer shorts... we don't mind shorts, but bootie shorts for kids are insane!!!
I love the new clothing you purchased, and everything looked great on you…working out takes a lot of discipline but it’s so worth it! This was an especially nice haul. I loved the blue and white vase, and agree about the color reversal being so nice. I thought the birdcage painting had so much whimsy, and the colors were fun. The question about the images from the book brought back great memories and made me smile. I have a dual degree in psychology, and art history. I’m a huge European history nerd so my husband and I travel to Europe as often as we can get away. I have had the pleasure of seeing the original Ann of Cleves portrait at the Louvre in Paris, and the portrait of Christina of Denmark in London. Paining over the top of the pieces, and using the rub, and buff on the fames made the pieces look so much more like actual paintings. I really look forward to seeing your creativity, and growth🥰.
The wine rack as a rolling pin holder is a great idea. My husband thinks I collect rolling pins( I kind of do) but I just love old rolling pins. We still use the one we got as a wedding gift 40 years ago

I totally relate to loving my thrifted treasures! They seem even more valuable even though I paid less. I grew up with hand me downs and thrifted items in the 70s and so glad people are doing it more and more.

I have to say you weren’t super big but, Wow 6 lbs makes a difference. I’m starting my journey and I’m about 30 years older than you. I will be thrilled when I lose 6 lbs. I used to be a skinny girl.
I love your hutch with all the white. I went green (greenery) and white with stoneware. I used soup tureens for my centerpiece.
I also have two of those clocks with the bird that I thrifted. One is mine and one for sale. I have 2 of the Currier and Ives framed art too, a Fall and Summer. It’s funny I found mine over 5 years ago and the stuff is still out there.
I also went to the bins last week. So fun!
I have both of those Currior and Ives prints and several others. I even have an original! I'm glad you showed those, and I look forward to what you do with them in the future.

Haha, good memories! A few years back I made my husband a pirate/buccaneer costume. I put it together completely from goodwill except for a bit of lace for the sleeve cuffs. I found am embroidered women’s long sleep shirt that could double as a jacket, I cut its sleeves off so it became a vest. It is a lot more fun when costumes are inexpensive. And I didn’t have access to a sewing machine so everything was done by hand. Cute clothes. Wear the green top, put on a bit of lipstick and blush if needed.
OK, this is a GREAT video! Some thoughts when you have the time (when????) to read. First, I grew up with Reader's Digest in my home and loved all the condensed and how - to books. My favorite book was "How to Increase Your Word Power, and I believe that book led me to major in English! I have the same clock with the little bird!! Also found in Goodwill!! I'm a bit of a bird fanatic! Your outfits are so cute for spring, and I thought it was great that you modeled them! I had a baby 29-years ago, and I will never be a size 8 again! I wish that designers/retailers would get a clue about what young girls should wear. I am convinced that this traffic stuff is related to young girls dressing inappropriately. I'm also so impressed that you home school your children. As a former teacher, I can tell you that the public school--and even some private schools--are bad news! Between the propaganda and lifestyle choices they are inculcating our children with is a disgrace. Your home does look curated. You have done an incredible job finding the items and displaying them in your home and booth. Man, if I lived close to Houston, I would buy half of what you put in your booth! I just hate paying for shipping. You are a great designer and I look forward to every video! Have a blessed day!

Excellent haul! My mom used to find cool books (mythology, art, etc.) for me at garage sales when I was growing up. And don't you love it when you find high-end clothing "just waiting for you"? I always grab a toile fabric remnant when I see it, and I really like that nativity pattern. All of today's flips are elegant and impressive, and your booth is lovely. I hope you sell a ton this weekend!

I am nearly 59 & living alone for the 1st time...and im grateful to live in a small town with a phenomenal consignment shop down the road & a great 2nd hand store in the next town, both which have everything from soup to nuts!! Most of my decor has come from the consignment shop and/or yard sales, etc. I sure enjoy your sweet, creative personality and learning from you!! Blessings!

Nice haul. I too am getting inspired from videos like yours and going thrift shopping. Getting things cheaper than I can find in stores and, some almost new. Yesterday, I thought "I need to live in a castle." The things I see........ (my house is small).
I believe the larger print could be Anne of Cleves and the painter may have been Holbein. I can't see the smaller one. Such great finds! I love that wooden clock, too. Oooooh.

An easier way to get pesky price tags stuck on items is or get your hairdryer and blow heat on the tag for maybe 30 seconds and they should peel right off with a straight edge or even your hand. I love your channel. I live in southeast Texas not to far from you.

I have to agree on the shorts for young girls, I would scour the stores just to get the bermuda shorts which are just a tad above the knee, it was hard now my girl is 16 and love xl sweaters and she swims in them but it looks so cute on her and she is a size 2...lol the styles these days, but thankful she is not wearing the shorty shorts!

First reaction on the fancy lady: Mary Queen of Scots. I would buy your artwork if I lived in Houston, but must say, I’m glad I don’t! I used to live in Cleveland TX many years ago. East Texas is beautiful, but too humid. And BTW, you and your husband are pretty awesome, as most vets are. You can do anything!

You really scored with your Goodwill shopping. My Goodwill is nothing like yours. I’ve tried shopping at mine for years and have never found anything that looks as good as the things you find. Nor do we have bins-never! I am so jealous!!
I have a few suggestions for you to consider. First, storing bananas with other fruit causes the other fruit to ripen quickly. If you eat all of your fruit fast, you may not notice. Bananas give off a gas, which causes the fruit to ripen quicker, especially when stored together under a glass cloche that traps the gas. A hint to slow down bananas from ripening is to wrap the stem in plastic-plastic wrap, plastic bags, even the plastic bag you use to take your fruits to check out at the store.
Your husband does a great job framing. But when you showed your pictures that came framed in the bigger frames, you commented on how nice the pictures looked. in the bigger frames. Now compare your pictures framed by husband. The 1 x 2's look so small and don't do the pictures much good. Think of how much better they would look in a bigger frame, with a wider piece of lumber or maybe a piece of wide moulding. Something to think about.

Re: allergies - my husband used to wash his face after being outdoors and also flushed his nose out with saline and it helped a lot.

Hint: If you find a nice sized clear glass plate, modpodge your pictures to the backside, facing out. Beautiful display plate! (90s)
The fruit flies, I've been told, come in on the stems of the bananas, although I think they'll go for any fruit. One tip I've tried is cutting off the chunky stem and then taking the banana bunch apart. Not as attractive on display, but helps minimize the fruit flies. Love the clock you found, and your makeovers are inspirational. Enjoy watching you recreate and refresh thrifted items.

Those Currier and Ives prints were from a "Four Seasons" set. My Mom used to love those and would pput up the set of 4. Great finds - how fun!
