Love these thrift & flip videos! For the rooster, paint it black before you rub and buff, that’s really the trick to getting the look you wanted. Keep the awesome content coming!
I really like how the rooster turned out! To me, it’s eclectic and old world looking. The whole process of the rub n buff with the white wax was like a happy accident 😊
I think you do a great job on everything. I admire your work ethic also. On the Rooster if it were mine to redo, I would remove all the wax and then use a solid color then highlight with the gold or bronze guilding . Love you
I love warm tones. I have found when I am trying to get an antique look, I will paint the item black before I use the rub n buff. That would look amazing on the rooster! Happy St. Patrick's day!
I love your style. I am 71 and used to be pretty crafty. Since watching you I have been able to resume some semblance of craftiness. But gotta say…don’t love the Rooster. I do get LOTS of inspiration from you so thanks!
Both vignettes are so pretty and classic. I love warm tones and cool tones...all of your flips and designs appeal to me! You have a great eye for what "goes" together and what looks good on a particular piece. You have a gift!
For those of us that grew up on the 70s and 80s, warm tones are our childhood. I love it. By the way rub and buff is a buffing agent to add shine, not paint an object. Learned about it from Sherry at Canterbury Cottage
Your booth is beautifully staged. I love watching your videos. You are so friendly and you do such nice work. The rooster isn't bad. I am sure someone will love him.
Your husband did a great job on the frame. I think it elevated the painting. That magazine rack looked amazing with the green on the outside and stained on the inside. Loved all the cannisters in your booth.
Another great video! I would spray paint that rooster white in a gloss finish. It would look really cute on someone's kitchen counter and be easy to clean. Just my opinion lol
I have a booth too, and I love thrift shopping for it, so I watch every video I can find on thrifting, upcycling, and creating good booth displays. You give us so many great ideas! Thank you!
Hi Corie...if I lived closer to your store I would just buy your items instead of wasting my time to do my own projects...your items are so pretty and very affordable...beautiful...
@@DesertDIY I agree, Cory. I just saw a house renovation on TH-cam where it was decorated with deep green, blue and gold. They also used darker toned woods. 👍
Both the vignettes are lovely! I especially loved the painting with the added frame and adorable little lamp. I love roosters, but I don't think this one turned out to look burnished, or especially high end. Your work is exceptional, and I'm glad that you are able to help support your family through your creative I talents.
I loved everything you display it so pretty I wasn't sure about the rooster but after you put it all together it looked nice 😊 I especially love how your husband helps you that's so sweet ♥
The frame your husband made for the painting, and the stain color used are perfect for that paining. I thought what you did with the clear glass piece was very clever. My favorite piece is the magazine rack. With all the colors on the rooster, I would have first painted it a solid dark color, then applied rub and buff. I like both warm, and cool colors, both done well can look beautiful…I think it really depends more on the style of the home, the climate it’s located in, the amount of natural light, or lack of natural light the home receives, and other factors. I will say that brass, copper, and bronze pieces for the home have been very on trend for at least the past year, and everyone is grabbing gilt gold frames. Have a great week🥰.
I Pretty much love both the dark & light tones!! Depends on the room and how much natural light comes in!! Don’t like the chicken, honestly!! I’d say paint gray like stone, & highlight with the bronze/copper!! Love the lamp!! Would look more gorgeous with one of those industrial light bulbs-No matter what, it is Beautiful!! I Absolutely Love the painting with the stained wood frame!! Trying not to forget-Oh, the enamel frame with print from your botanical book!!!❤🌿❤️Beautiful young Lady!!!❤
Gonna say- broke my left ring finger knuckle in January. Had to go back to surgery this past Thursday-finger knuckle wired and at another place wired to my pinky finger-stabilizing and trying to correct rotation. SOO, I made my own iPhone holder!! A little wood tray from Walmart, had a roll of the grip/no slide drawer liner, spray adhesive, waverly chalk paint, matte water based poly, and waverly antique wax with metallic paint!!! My Waverly chalk color was Peacock!! Turned out so good and no more twisting of left fingers!! No slipping or sliding off elevated pillows, “tray” handle allows access to charge phone!! Can go straight up or on side for better viewing!! Plus holds my reading glasses!!❤
@@DesertDIY thx!! Didn’t realize the twisting motion until now for holding iPhone or even texting!! Plus have to have arm elevated, so it kept slipping down!! Ugh!! I’m so Loving this waverly peacock color!! It’s a blue green with black base!!💙💫💙💚
I’m a reseller. I live in a small rural town where there is nowhere to work, even if I wanted to…which I don’t! I have been doing this forever, before there were nine million other people doing it! I love it & I haven’t missed working for someone else for the last thirty three years! I personally like the rooster the way he is with a little color peeking thru; it looks more original & artistic. I, myself, am really tired of everything being painted a solid color.
I would have sprayed painted a base of black on the rooster first. Love your work and love the fact you share even when you aren’t happy with results. We all have those moments!
Great flips! The rooster needs more work. I’m not a painter so don’t know. Love everything else. And yes I use warm tones certain places. My fireplace is Mexican brick, dull and boring. So I used an Orange Swedish tile painted plate on it as a focal point. Pops color. I wanted to add more color in my room. Usually I lean towards cooler colors in my house. I just realized it. My kitchen has warm colors in it. I love all colors except yellow! Never anything yellow! I think I have a magazine rack like that in my attic that my father made in high school shop in the 1940’s. It sounds like the Texas pollen has affected you. I get it too. It’s usually cedar. I’m so happy that your shop is doing so well to support your family. Kids gotta have some fun too. Love your channel and always look forward to watching what you do next!
Great video. I really like the way the rooster turned out, it is unique. The frame took the picture to a higher level. Your hubby did a good job. The lamp is my very favorite. Love the way it looks. Thanks for sharing. Nana Brenda
I love everything! The only tweak I would suggest is the topiary. It's just too big for that proportion. If you do a tall slim tree instead, it will be much better. I can't believe those duck cannisters!! They are so cute. The tulip ones are also pretty. Made me think of them in a 40's kitchen.
I am a warm tone person, I decorate with all Fall colors all of the time. Only in Spring do I add pops of dark pink, purple, or blue. I mostly use oranges, reds, and yellows, though. I love both of the vignettes.
I admire the support you give other resellers. I have found it quite difficult to get into it because when I go bin shopping the resellers there are kinda rude if I ask them questions. I am a SAHM and sell a tad bit on eBay here and there to help my husband who works 3 jobs. I definitely don’t make nearly enough on eBay but I am not giving up.
I like the warm tones and tend toward warm and buttery tones accented with blues. The dark colors give a more masculine feel, or maybe wintery feel, but I like that look, too. As for the rooster, I would remove the dark rub and buff. Maybe try a gray primer, a copper wax (from a different company) and add a vertigris accent. It could also work on pieces like the alligator skin topiary as well. (I’m sorry I can’t remember the name of the company, but it comes in a small rather flat jar and they have a lot of different metallics.) Your booth looks great and I can see your designers eye developing the more I watch your videos. It is a delight .
I love the rooster!! I like warm tones, but it depends on what I am using them for. Honestly though, I don't really worry about warm tones or cool tones. The final result is what matters to me!
I love the picture . Your husband did a great job on the frame. I collect roosters and it hurts me when they get painted. If I find a porcelain one it’s OKAY and buy it but if the full of beautiful colors I go wild over it. Blessings.🙏🙏🙏❤️👋👋👋👋👋👋
I absolutely love the shopping at the bins and when you show us how you stage your both. 🥰so much fun 👏🙃👏thank you for sharing with us my friend 🌿👏☀️👏🌿your friend in California
I have a horrible time with chickens. I never know which way to paint them. My go to, for simplicity, is white and maybe a dark wax . Yours is not" butt ugly"😅. It goes by the painting . Kiddos to hubby on the frame. If my husband helped at all .. I'd be thrilled. Thanks for the video
I would suggest painting the rooster a solid black and then doing the gold on top of that next time. Even if the gold doesn’t get full coverage, it gives a neat affect.
My fav is your painting with your husbands frame. I would ask him to use the mahogany stain on it for warm colored paintings and you can paint/paint wash the others. I would also double down on those type of paintings at that price. I think you would make a lot of money!
Oh my goodness I absolutely love how your shop is looking. The open shelf cabinets look amazing. Oh I wish I live close. As always, thank you so much for inviting us into your shop in your home. I’m always excited when it’s time for your videos ! I hope you enjoy a beautiful week. Take care you’re the best.💚☘️💚🍀
I think if you painted the little rooster first with black then use the rub n buff to hit the high places by “drybrushing “ with the rub n buff would work better. I’ve used it on several projects in that way! Works great! And lasts a long time in just used dry brushing items…
I love everything, plus the rooster!!! I too, like both warm tones and cool tones so it's not picking one over another, i think they both look amazing!!! hahahahh! have a great day!
I love the warm colors for home decor. I will grab a random color every once in a while. I woke up one day and said I need red somewhere. So in my brown, taupe, cream....there's a red creation on my dresser.
On the rooster if you spray paint it matte black or paint it with acrylic black paint first you can do the rub and buff over the paint and it works great.
I’m getting my booth on 4/1/24. I’m so excited and inspired by your flips and I’ve been gathering and making things for the couple months waiting for an available booth which is a mix of painted upcycled furniture and smalls. Keep up the great work!
Hi cory, here is my take on ur rooster, and I liked him! I have been a pottery and ceramic artist for well over 35 years. He was extremely glossy and nothing would stick, fired at a high temp so his glaze was like glass. You could have sanded him so stuff would stick, but that doesn't always work. It probably needed a bonding primer first before anything. I use dixie belle slick stick, but there are other cheaper brands out there at lowes, etc. Just make sure it will go over glass. I have picture frames once in a while that nothing will stick to and then I regret not hitting it with bonding primer. When that happens I just make it really rustic with lots of the under neath color showing. Lol.
Just a suggestion, paint the rooster the pretty green color you painted the magazine holder
I have done one in the green and it looks great
Thats a great solution.
@@DesertDIYtry spray painting it a rubbed bronze if you already have a green one.
Great idea-🤓
I liked how the rooster looked before

Love all the makeovers my favourite is the picture with the couple walking in a town I think it’s so romantic
That picture looks so much better when the frame was added... I didn't think it would make such a difference but what a pleasant surprise...
Both vignettes are so pretty and classic. I love warm tones and cool tones...all of your flips and designs appeal to me! You have a great eye for what "goes" together and what looks good on a particular piece. You have a gift!
Thank you so much! That means a lot to me
Well, many of us are out there because of people like you who inspire us and make us feel like we can be success!

Love warm tones for home decor. The cockerel could have extra red and green sponged, over with a dry brush and blend together with the gold
I'm so glad you liked the warm tones. I have a feeling they'll come back in style big time soon.
@@DesertDIY I agree, Cory. I just saw a house renovation on TH-cam where it was decorated with deep green, blue and gold. They also used darker toned woods. 👍

You did a great job on all your projects, and I agree with the comment on painting the rooster black or green and then rub and buff. Nice work.
Love the warm tones!

Warm tones yes ❤ I look forward to your videos!
I love the finished rooster.

I really liked the magazine rack. I like bright colors.
The glass you used for the topiary cloche is usually used in a cast iron stand as a vase. Commonly seen in Mexican home decor.

It's all beautiful, Cory... I love both vignettes. I like the rooster, I imagine that it had been in an attic old and vintage-y. 😊
If you want layers of the rub n buff, clear coat(spray on would probably be best,) it between each coat of rub n buff! It's pretty cool though ❤
On the rooster if you spray paint it matte black or paint it with acrylic black paint first you can do the rub and buff over the paint and it works great.

I love the warm colors, in Arizona, and I know you know. My house is full of the reds, orange, yellows
Just a tip when using 2 glues, i.e. E-6000 & hot glue: don't let them touch each other... space them apart. 👍
love the picture and the rooster!
Lol.
