The horse is for the.horse they rode away on, the black line is the line they couldn't hold, and the line is black because they are mourning their cowardice. The patch is yellow because they were cowards. It's just what I was told. Nothing personal.

Whenever we wanted to do something stupid over the weekend, we knew to just hit up some 2ID dudes over in the infantry barracks or head over to Hovey and hook up with the Stryker guys. With that said, Juneteenth and 4th of July was CRAZY.
I have my Big Red One patch. Got yelled at ALL THE TIME when I went to the 82nd. Mostly cause I was authorized to wear the actual red 1, not just the subdued one. Worth it though!

A Soldier that wore 1st CD patch had a major complaint: after PCSing to another unit, the patch outline was so huge and extremely obvious on the class A blouse. Same Soldier was coerced into buying another coat out of pocket. Clothing sales loved this to the extreme. First Sergeants could care less.

The 82nd was originally called the All American Division in World War 1. That's why you have the double A. They added the airborne for World War 2 because there wasn't any type of airborne or parachuting soldiers.
90th Division is cool. "T" and "O" superimposed. "Tough 'Ombres" or "Texas/Oklahoma" formed but not sent to WW1, they were part of the initial landings in Normandy. Very under appreciated historically and now a Reserve unit. Saw the patch sewn on upside down once and called it the Hiroshima patch, looked lake a mushroom cloud

As an airman I am jealous of two things when it comes to the Army, after you deploy woth a unit you continue to represent that unit even when you go to a new unit so everyone looming at you knows that youbdeployed and who you were with, I'm also jealous that you can buy your unit patches at clothing sales, we can't get anything lower than MAJCOM level at clothing sales but we are required to wear our squadron patch and some units wear their wing patch in place of the MAJCOM patch, but if yours get's messed up, lost, or if you just want a spare you have to hope supply is willing to give you another one.
Cavalry patch is designed like a knights medieval shield, including the large lines dividing it into to parts . Though in that tradition there should be a symbol in the other part too .
You should evaluate the 36th Engineer Brigade or the 20th Engineer Battalion. They were in Fort Hood when I got out but I won't spoil the surprise of what their patches look like.
In Vietnam they didn't have eagles, so the 101st screaming eagles patch made the locals call them "chicken men"
