That's a really cool thing indeed. As soon as you smell a familiar scent, you immediately will associate a situation. I have a discontinued fragrance from Hugo Boss, nothing I'd buy today, but it reminds me of my school time which ended 20 years ago.
Even more than that it can remind you of specific people. My Dad wore Paco Rabanne to work every morning. Every time I smell that opening, it reminds me of him, of great mornings, of that strong work ethic.
@@time4jesus True... My dad passed away 13 years ago. In August this year, I received a jacket I ordered and after unpacking it, I noticed that it smelled like the fragrance he was wearing for special occasions. That brought back memories and made me very nostalgic.
I too am a victim of this fragrance collecting thing, its just so addicting and satisfying, like building your fragrance hall of fame, or building your fragrance history for the years to come🇵🇭
A great video! Thank you. Okay, so a simple hack for anyone with more than 2 fragrances. As background, I have around 150-200 now, collected over many years and most go months without use however, all get smelled. 1) Put on the clothes for the day or look at a photo of yourself previously looking/styled the way you will on the day. 2) Take out a few or as many bottles of fragrances that you want to test. 3) Smell the top of the bottle/atomiser and inside the bottle top simultaneously whilst looking at yourself in the mirror and imagining yourself in the location you will be. 4) spray on what YOU think works best with that and go out confident that you know you have made your signature style. This will change the game. These general rule videos are amazingly helpful and guide you not to make serious mistakes. Nobody wants to smell Eros at a funeral right? However, if you know how you want to present yourself, this method will make it easy. For example: Today, I am wearing Sauvage at the gym. Also, I am off to Mykonos for a family holiday shortly. I have chosen Creed Vetiver for the day and Guerlain L'Homme Ideal for the night based on how I am likely to dress and the place I am going at the time of year. Now who's going to be able to recommend those fragrances for me, my age, style, location and occasion. Only me. Do what suits YOU and make this your art. Scent creation is a science however this part is all you.
At the moment, I consider Armaf Shades my signature scent. I really like it, and its price tag is "friendly". I was kind of disappointed when purchased it online but as time went by, it became one of my favorites.
This is EXACTLY the video i needed right now. I'm on the hunt for a Signature Scent to complete all the work i've been doing with weight loss through diet/exercise and putting together a new wardrobe. Looking to complete the package with a solid Fragrance or 3 I really wonder about the science behind some of Initio's perfumes like Side Effect to attract women.
After buying a ridiculous amount of fragrances, my main signature scent for this time of year is Majestic Woody Intense by Arabian Oud. I do have 50 different bottles right now though. Carlisle by PDM is a close second. Summer is different though
I'm like you Antonio. I just recently got into fragrance and have been buying a new fragrance every week. I'm not terribly picky. So I blind buy and love most of my fragrances. Some I didn't understand the hype at first (Amuoge Reflection man. Initio Rehab. MFK Oud Satin Mood.) Now they're in my top 5. So, sometimes if you don't like something at first, give it a few tries. That's where samples come in handy
I just made lemon water and my mom was going out so i told her that her perfume smells like lemongrass and it's very fresh and mild. 5 minutes later I realised it was my hand that smelled like lemon and I really liked the fragrance! so another option is to actually smell different fruits etc to choose which one u like most if u want a fruity perfume etc
Same here so I finally stopped doing the analysis and blind bought 1 million, Versace Eros, and Polo Red. 1 million came today in the mail today and its delightful. The others should be arriving soon. Good luck to you!
Very nice. Eros is great, very loud and attention getting. Polo Red is a good sweet coffee fragrance. Never tried the original 1 Million, but I have tried 1 Million Lucky and that one is great as well. Enjoy them fragrances bro
Great video. I wear two signature scents. I spent a lot of money over the years on fragrances and I eventually found what scent notes I prefer. My signature scents are warm tabacco, creamy tonga, smooth sandlewood and sweet spice inspired fragrances. I fell in love with D&G Pour Homme at 20 years old and I found my second signature scent D&G The One (edt) in my early 30's. I enjoy their seasonal versatility. I will often rotate between them in cold, cool, wam, and hot weather situations.
There is one perfume that makes me "Me" wearing it is some as if it shows my whole personality and life story.. and that is dior homme intense . Im so so so happy everyday I wear it as if I know who I am and what I smell like. Thank u to the people that made this amazing perfume.
A few years back I discovered essential oils and started incorporating them into my scent arsenal. I get nice compliments on Nag Champa, vanilla bean, and cotton candy. My favorite commercial sent currently is Old Spice Wolfthorne. It's very cotton candy smelling. Good stuff. I also still love the classics. Old Spice, Brut, Drakkar etc... because many of the women of today aren't all that familiar with the classics. Younger women in particular. If they are smelling it for the first it's new to them. And that's really all that matters anyway right...
Hey one question to antonio and the community here: Do you think a person has to be able to justify his/her style? I dont know about you but I get asked pretty often why I like or wear a certain item, especially if it is something that is not in the "basics" set of clothing for example dark cargo pants. Most of the time I am able ro give an answer but I began to ask myself if you even need to defend your style, or if it should just be accepted without any explanation. What do you think guys? Would love to hear some opinions :)
Exactly. Growing up my mom's friend was in fragrance sales and she would give me new things every year. I've been wearing since I was young. I enjoy when I get a smell off my wrist or when I make a certain movement. It's for me as well. I love bergamot and associate it with Earl Grey tea. Comfort and warming. Cheers.
Wow this is one of you best videos related to fragrances, Antonio! The psychology behind the it it’s so important! Also it was great that you’ve mentioned Antonio Banderas fragrances. Blue Seduction and The Secret are my favourites from this house, and they always get me compliments and make me feel good!
To the lads just watching this video for the first time, check out The Fragrance Decant Boutique if you're curious about expensive fragrances. Antonio, i have one from Antonio Banderas, Icon edt. For a $20 fragrance it’s really good and has some longevity on my skin. I’ve been collecting for about a year and now I’m focused on niche. There’s some great designers, but the quality and uniqueness of niche has got my attention.
I think it's brilliant to associate fragrance with values to aspire to. It's a shame that I live outside the U.S. (South America) and can't purchase them.

The real problem came after i started to watch youtube videos and realise that's waaaay toooooo popular and kinda drove me out from this scent... I don't want something popular!
Great video Antonio!, looking forward to seeing what mission fragrances brings to the community. My advice to new collectors would be to buy something with all year versatility until you can cover the 4 seasons with multiple scents.
i realised that I like feminine perfumes. so I like to have citrus, fruity, and floral perfumes. so I always shop in these 3 categories. moreover, they make me feel clean, fresh, and sweet. thr next thing I buy that I allow myself to buy out of these categories is a date night perfume that's completely femme fatal and not to the softer side.
I know what you mean by just buying what works. So far I noticed that I like Jimmy Choo Man Intense and Dior Sauvage. Both are fresh and spicy. I think smelling good means smelling clean, so I go with freshness. Spicy makes me feel distinct.
I would say Versace Eros edt is my signature scent or Armani code edp I love the smell of it I've really thought about getting Tom fords Black Orchid I love the smell a lot but I'm really not sure though it can be more of a feminine fragrance in some ways but I really like it
Morning Antonio, nice review. But I miss the way fragrances smelt on me because I cannot wear them any more. Reason being that after my wife had or first child over 20 years now she could not take any strong fragrance and I had to stop. The ones I wore but do not see much anymore are Paco Robanne pour Homme, and Lagerfeld for every day, and Van Cleef & Arpels Men's Fragrances for men for special occasions. Continue with the honest and timely reviews.
Good video, I don't know if there is a perfect fragrance. It's really just something you try and like or don't like and the smell may change overtime depending on how your body reacts to it until you want to try something new
I’m surprised to see Curve for men. I’ve never seen it in a fragrance video. It’s an underrated Wal-Mart scent that most fragheads turn a blind nose to but Wal-Mart also sells CK Obsession so ..
I love John Varvatos' Artisan, but it never seems to last, I've noticed that being an issue with a lot of EDT EDPs... exception being Dior's Sauvage..that will last through a shower lol
Good cover. There are soooo many options! I prefer a frag for every occassion so no signature for me! I do try to maintain my collection at around 30 unique frags per season with a few extras for good measure. It works for me!
That’s a good point. I’m newer to the frag community and I thought everyone had a signature scent, and I’ve really been struggling to find one. I usually just like to wear a frag based on the season or temp.
Be careful with those so called crowd pleasers. Some of them are VERY strong, and some people may make negative associations! A good example is "Le Male" by Jean-Paul Gaultier. You need very little, some people use too much of it. And as it is rather common, you might be considered clueless beginner, if people smell you from miles away. I'm not saying that it's a bad fragrance, but use it with caution.
@@joe19912 My current favorite fragrances are "BVLGARI Man Wood Neroli" for spring/summer (Neroli is a very underrated scent), and "Bottega Veneta Pour Homme Parfum" for fall/winter. They have got me some compliments! :) But maybe also because I wear them with confidence as they both "represent" a part of my life, smelling them just makes me feel good.
I have a total of 7 fragrances but i buy into equivalences perfumes (made in france, 99% the real deal at a fraction of the price). you have any vídeos about thouse perfumes?
It seems like I cannot smell most citrus or sweet base fragrances. I can sense something is in the air. I can smell the other notes but they are subtle. Most of these are completely orderless to me.
well said! I used to stop by Sephora before the pandemic and I would get small samples for free of my favorites for months before I took the leap to spend $100+ on a fragrance or two.
Hmmm what's the price for your brand of the COLOGNES all 3 in a set ??? TH-camrs dont say there price, only one I can say and backs it up is ALPHA M. PETE AND PEDRO COLOGNES . .

They have got me some compliments! :) But maybe also because I wear them with confidence as they both "represent" a part of my life, smelling them just makes me feel good.
@@FedeMOfficial I'll check those out for sure! My current faves are Terre D Hermes,
Prada L'Homme Intense, and Mont blanc Starwalker.
ADG Profumo and Creed Aventus are phenomenal with my body chemistry.

Another great video as always. I love my Creed aventus lol
Is Scent Bird still an option?
This makes me want to put a fragrance on even though I have to go to bed soon
Antonio, what do you think of Mont Blanc Explorer - which others would you recommend to someone who likes explorer?
8:30 When you go to the Alabama Family Reunion
LMAOOOO
A gentleman should own 2 fragrances. A spring/summer and a fall/winter. Of course he can own more but that is the standard
Covid-19?
Do they make one that smells like "Vanilla-coffee & cedar"?
Al Haramain
I really like several of this one, a lot of clones but I don't feel like knock offs. Classy clones kinf of thing.
I totally agree 😍

well said! I used to stop by Sephora before the pandemic and I would get small samples for free of my favorites for months before I took the leap to spend $100+ on a fragrance or two.
