man this channel really blew up since being here since the 300 sub mark. im glad to see this as the content was and is always really good compared to other's
Hang on -- so you changed it from 160mm rear travel to 180mm, and put on a larger rear wheel? Did you take of the spring and check whether the rear wheel contacts the seat tube or seat on full compression? On the riding clips your rear wheel appears to be coming dangerously close to the front triangle on compressions.
I forgot to check the frame is $400 so not too worried about it. But you’re totally right. I did all of tests on the carbon Levo I sodomized with 29 wheel
That high rise headset thing is just a big spacer that replaces the headset cover. Just makes it look cleaner if you need a lot of spacers for a long steerer tube
Love the video, in my model the bike has 177mm of travel, I would watch out for the rear tire touching the seattube at bottom out though. The 29" wheel gets very close...
@@OtterMTBtech yes, I've checked it with Linkage 3X (highly recommend the software if you're interested in bikes) if you want I could give you a quick introduction to it
love the video, super relevant for anyone who shops used bikes since the status is always there on marketplace at a low price. wondering if you’ll consider the next tier up in budget frames/bikes, which to me is the stumpy evo aluminum (the raw gray fade one looks pretty sweet) or an aluminum transition. they’re also fairly available on marketplace and i feel like consistently in the 2k ish range
I have a playlist of Ebike’s. Spesh Kenevo SL: Upgraded and Examined th-cam.com/video/hZ9LY2_5p1A/w-d-xo.html This is the bike that made me not want one
@ottermtbtech Great video! Do you need to increase travel in order to run a 29er in the rear? I got the status 160 and would love to make some upgrades to it.
I can see that you use Fox fork for the project. Is it better than DVO38 sl/ Super Z/ Zeb ??? Could you make comparison review based on your experience?
I have reviews of all the forks listed. Great idea to get them all in one. Make it simple here. Fox is comfort, super Z and Zeb pop and jump good, DVO blends that well. The DVO 38 SL is my choice, but I picked up that Fox 38 for $300 for the budget build. They all work well. Especially when they are stroked to 180.
Geez! I expected way more from Specialized. My custom 2022 Stumpy EVO alloy has been a quiet bike. With that said, the internal routing ports near the head tube are starting to separate from the frame. Good choice on the Aggressor for the rear tire, but I would have gone with the 2.3-inch version.
With ALL due respect, you built the bike but then was irritated that everything rattled loose? I have this bike built from the factory and have completly abused it at North star bike park with out any issues.
My trails are tight without berms and steep, for me the mullet is a solution to longer bikes that are just a bit too big to make these hairpins+ bonus I find it very flickable & manualable while fkin around a jump trail... If I entered let's say a amateur DH or Enduro race I'd probably go with full 29. BTW a don't think we're flush with cash hanging here; I work from home and raise the kids my wife has the CEO position, I'm just a lapidary. Want some rocks? Nah not that type 😅
This is the type of content I'm here for; Sketchy fun without any branding PR talk.
Same 👌
😎 the marketing managers aren’t a fan of massacred bikes with used parts reviews🤣🤣🤣
I don’t even own a status. It’s almost 3 am. Yet here I am. Nice vid!
Legend! Rider

I appreciate that, thought I was going no where

Thanks I could have used it for the steer tube of doom
Holy ive been waiting for a new status video thank you man
More to come!
Love your content, also didn’t know your from the Pdx area, I’m relatively pretty close to there 🤘🏻

Is that 230x65 shock?

Yes for sure I’m tech nerd

Did you ever test the latest Levo SL? What do you think about that bike?
No, not a fan of of the light weight bikes. Full Amish or full power
@@OtterMTBtech Why? Which light emtbs did you try?

This is the bike that made me not want one
What wheel are u running to
fit the rear
@ottermtbtech Great video! Do you need to increase travel in order to run a 29er in the rear? I got the status 160 and would love to make some upgrades to it.
Aggressor 2.5 fits in, side knobs the issue of fitment. It’s tight and gravel can trap in the seat stays. But I think it’s better
@ sounds like it’s worth it. But keeping it at stock 160mm rear and front would still be ok? I’m a noob and skipped geometry class
What did u do just put a narrower tire to fit on the status?
i want to change my rear shock but cant find a schock with the right mounts btw i want a coil i prefer rockshox do you now one?
Love the experimenting
Sketch fest is my favorite
Came here to check to see how you got with the full 29er after some time? Any issues with the rear hitting the seat tube?
Rocks get trapped in the chain stay and scratch it

surely the rear wheel will slam into the frame/seat on bottom out?
Nooe

Is a rear shock upgrade even nessecary for the status? should I get a older fox float x2 or a dhx but without a progressive spring
You need a progressive spring for this this bike. If your happy with air leave it
I think the high rise headset spacer is Acros
With ALL due respect, you built the bike but then was irritated that everything rattled loose? I have this bike built from the factory and have completly abused it at North star bike park with out any issues.
The bolts in the frame came loose. Not the parts I hap hazardly installed
Would a fox dhx in 230x62.5 work on my 230x60 status? the DHX is taken off a specialized status 170 2
Yes mine was 230x65
respect
Thank you I was thinking of getting the frame for a build and F that.
DVO makes a 600lb progressive spring too
Not for 230x65 shocks. I let them know next batch to make some
The cranks not spinning means the preload is too tight. Running the preload tight will prematurely wear out the already tiny DUB bearings.
Did mine look to tight?
Mullet bikes are great when you ride men's trails
Don’t mis gender my bro my pro nouns are all and every trail

Marzocchi and fox is the same company. There is no competition there.
They are different entity’s. Same parts, different balance sheets. The old Z1 made no one buy 36 performance forks.
7mm steerer? That'd be a worthless fork. Misspoke?
7 inch. 17 cm Try to include metric since the world is on that system
