TRIP REPORT | The Biggest Storms I've Ever Seen | AIR FRANCE Boeing 777 | Paris to Fort de France

- Air France Trip Report flying from Paris to Fort-de-France, in the island of Martinica, onboard one of the Air France Boeing 777-300ER with the Caribbean cabin configuration, on a lovely summer day.
An extremely comfortable flight to the French Caribbean onboard the Air France Boeing 777. As we were on the hurricane season in the Caribbean, the flight was only around 60% booked and I was lucky enough to get a free row for myself: 3 seats next to the window, plus 4 seats in the middle of the cabin. Not only comfortable but with a huge level of privacy!
We took off from Paris-Orly in a northeasterly direction and quickly made a 180° turn to the right to start our route to Fort-de-France. The takeoff was amazing. We were seated just in front of the engines and the sound couldn't be better. A really memorable one! After finishing the turn, we enjoyed some very nice views of Paris, including the Eiffel Tower.
We flew in parallel course to the northwest French coast, all over the Brest area, until finally joining the Atlantic Ocean. Ahead of us thousands of kilometers of water and around 7 hours until reaching the lovely island of Martinica, in the Caribbean Sea. We saw just water and storms until spotting Guadalupe Island. A few minutes after that, we finally reached Martinica.
The approach was completely over the island, overflying Fort-de-France and its airport, and making a 180° turn to finally over the Bay of Fort-de-France. Martinica is one of the most beautiful islands in the Caribbean. I really hope the recording of the approach will be able to show it on this Trip Report.
About the onboard service, I can't say anything good. It wasn't bad, of course not, but it wasn't any special. At all. There were 2 options for the main meal (chicken or pasta) but when they arrived in my row (literally the 4th in economy class) they ran out of the chicken option already... The rest was just a very cheap meal, in my opinion, not at the AirFrance-KLM level.
Now it's your turn!
Have you ever flown with Air France? Which route? How was the experience? What do you think about the Air France service? Have you ever been in Martinica? Maybe in any other Caribbean island?
Lots of things to talk about! See you in the comments!

7:11 Just a small addition - Tarom, the Romanian flag carrier, also still flies four A318s, but will sadly retire them this year. The baby bus has been a trusty workhorse for Tarom over the past 20 years 🙂
Yeah, I thought they were already retired. Apparently it will happen this year. ✈️
My favorite plane
That engine sound during takeoff is music to my ears. Fantastic video!! 😍😍
Yeah!! It was amazing being seated in front of the engines! :D
I've been watching your videos for a long time, and love them. Every second is full of something to see and no boring areas. I look forward to Saturday mornings to watch your video. And your captions are very awesome and informative. Keep up the great videos!!
Thanks so much for the lovely feedback! Really glad that you enjoyed it so much!:))
You are so gifted at editing your videos . I love the way you tell us where each aircraft is going . 😊
Thanks so much for your kind words!
I'm very happy that you enjoy these videos so much! :))
He’s watching Shrek 2 omg I love this guy 😂😊😊

Wow ,¡ Nos vemos mañana !
✈️✈️✈️😎😎
Excellent, thanks for your time and effort. Loved all the info, one of the best flight videos that I have watched, Merci, from UK.
I'm 100% sure that I'm not the only who enjoys your background music. Such a good selection.
Thanks so much for the feedback!! :))
You have the best vids I have ever watched 😊
Another lucky flight; I mean spotting the other plane in the air.
Final snack box seems to have tasty contents.
And Fort de France has a nice cute airport terminal.
Thanks :))
In general was a nice flight. But yeah, the approach to FDF is amazing :))
Thanks for another great video!!
Glad that you've enjoyed this Trip Report!
Thanks! :))
Flew over me in Brittany, France. Cool to see it all from above. Great video as always 👍👍
No te cortes con la teoría! Nos encanta 🥰
Jaja Muchas gracias :))
Brilliant video thank you
Thanks so much! :)
Yes Lucas it certainly was paradise 😊The approach was something else and left me gobsmacked. Also loved your expert knowledge on the cloud cover .also take off due to wind direction. Loved every minute. Thankyou ✈✈✈xx
Thanks so much for the feedback!
Really glad you found it so interesting!
Have a great weekend! :))
I Like The Cuisne Aboard.Great Trip Report
I prefer the Quisine, to be honest ✈️✈️😎
Absolutely fantastic footage. Well done.
Thanks a lot!!
Glad that you liked it! :))
I have never flown Air France and this trip made me think that I'm not missing anything special. However, any flight on a 777 is a good flight to me, it's my favorite aircraft.
haha That's true... the catering on this flight was below AF standard I believe...
love your aerial view of Paris airport
Thanks! It was really amazing!
Glad you emjoyed it :)
I flew Air France’s Boeing 777 and it was one of the best flights ever so thanks for doing a trip report on it
Glad that you've enjoyed it! :)
Another great detailed video thank you 👏
Thanks so much for the kind feedback!
Lucas great window images, like always, thanks.Air France service was good in this flight
Thanks so much!
It was a very nice trip :))
Great clip as always. Been following you for a while. The nickname for the Airbus 318 is "The Baby Bus" - because it's so small.
Nice! Finally you get a proper engine view, 4:23
Haha Yeah! Finally on a Boeing 777! ✈️
Lucas ❤✈!!!!! Thanks for your great service to the world!!!! AMAZING TripReport 👍👍 Enjoy your weekend 💛💛 Xx.........
Thanks so much!!!! :))
Next Saturday we'll have Korean Air for the 1st time on the channel ✈️✈️
@@OnBoardHD Thanks Lucas!!!! I'm waiting 👍😉.............
It’s really awesome how you got to sit ahead of the wing on a 777-300 in Economy Class! Much like your Austrian 777 VIE-NRT video, those GE-90’s sounded awesome. I also really enjoyed the views of the storm clouds over the Atlantic, and that approach was, of course, incredibly beautiful. Also, I feel like this video had a bit more information/trivia than the others, which I liked :) Great tripreport as always!
Thanks so much for the positive feedback! I'm really glad that you enjoyed the video so much!
I agree, it's really difficult to find a B777 in which in econony class you can seat in front of the engine :)
love your trip !! great trip !!
Thanks so much! ✈️✈️
Looking forward for this one :)
Hope you enjoyed it :)
Another great video from you
Thanks so much!! :))
Awesome! I am from the Caribbean, Curacao roots, my father come from Willemstad. I am, borned and living in the Netherlands. Went a lot to Curacao and Bonaire once. Even lived some years on Curacao when i was a kid at school outthere. Nice videos!
I've been in the 3 islands (Aruba included) and I really liked them. Loooking forward to visit them again.
We'll have Curaçao this year on the channel :))
❤❤❤❤ merci beaucoup ths
Glad you enjoyed it :)
07:59, I like the lorry in the background keeping pace with the aircraft taking off
haha I saw it also when editing :D
Thank you for sharing the video. This coming October I'm flying Air France 777-300 JFK to CDG in economy and can't wait. Glad to see your video.
Wish you an amazing flight!! :))
You can call Martinique part of the French West Indies ( Same for Guadeloupe, Saint Martin, Saint Barth and so on )... That's the true English wording for those French Overseas Territories 🙂 And thanks for this great video 👍
Thank You for sharing this wonderful video. You are so knowledgeable👍🏻. Enjoy your holiday 🎉🎈🎊 Cheers! 🥂
Thanks so much!
Glad to read that I didn't put too much info on the video. At some point I thought it could be too much 😅
@@OnBoardHD it’s superb👍🏻Something different from the ordinary 😀
Very nice report, thanks for sharing! Tarom is still flying the A318 across Europe. However they plan to retire it this year.
Thanks so much!
I dont know why... but I thought they had retired them already...
7:17 , Tarom is also using the A318 .They have 2 of them active
Thanks for the info. I was convinced that they had retire them. ✈️
I always look out to see if I could spot the shadow as you have just mentioned.
Up up boss nigeria 🇳🇬 is waiting 😊😊😊
Glad you like these videos :))
BA operated an A318 to JFK from LCY with a technical stop at SNN. It was in an all business configuration.
Yeah! It would be amazing to try it once...
@@OnBoardHD Sadly covid 19 killed the route.
Hiii flight to Reunion is on 2024 and the intro music is FANTASTIC NEW MUSIC I LOOOOVE
Reunion is always an interesting destination. Although is almost never cheap hehe
Lets see when it will be possible :)
Yay really missed Lucas last week ❤
I think you all will like this one! ✈️✈️
The answer might be yes, having been a pilot for 17.5 years flying over Brasil we came across many. Mostly flying from Santiago to Europe and Buenos Aires to the USA. Miami can be a challenge on a regular basis also.
Well, pilots of course :)
But the question is orientated towards passengers ;)
True, as a child also flying with my parents 😊
Nice trip report! TAROM is also using A318 😉
Thanks!
Yeah, I thought they were already retired. But apparently it will happen this year.
Love your videos! Please do cathay Pacific sometimes ❤
Thanks so much!
Lets see when it will be possible...
I watch your channel almost exclusively now, as you normally travel in Economy which is where nearly all of us travel. I used to watch Sam, Neil, Josh etc., but they rarely if ever travel in economy these days, to the point I unsubscribed. Keep up the great work that you must spend so much time editing to produce such great content.
Thank you!
Really glad that you enjoy these videos so much! :))
And thanks for the nice feedback!
Sardine class! Even worse when one flies to or from Reunion.😢😢
Only hope is to board last after they call you 3 times and look for a middle row of 4 empty seats and you are saved.😊😊
Well, they still offer the same legroom than when they have less seats.
Looking forward to fly to Reunion, by thw way :D
@@OnBoardHD Difference is you can use the 4 seats to sleep major advantage.
The flight to Reunion from France is 10 hours so if you are economy remember my post
WOW that flight was pretty empty. Nice vide thank you
Yeah, around 60%. It felt very comfortable :))
@@OnBoardHD
Sin problema tío. Enhorabuena por todo.
Bon día.
We missed you on the other Saturday my friend greetings from Uganda
Yeah, I didn't have time to edit the video...
Hola,nos toca vuelo mañana.😄✌️👏😂👩⚕️
A un destino maravilloso! ✈️✈️
Muchas gracias!
Espero poder probar Aeromexico este año! Ojalá se posible! :))
I took that one carribean config on airfrance to Senegal and I have to admit that I was not ready for such comfort
Haha I really enjoyed a lot my first time in front of the engine on a B777 ✈️✈️
As for le I enjoyed being stucked on the aisle seat on the middle row XD(send help please)@@OnBoardHD
Tarom Airlines también vuela con el a318!
Saludos
Correcto.
Welcome back Lucas .. missing your wake up call Bell notifications last week and today Bingo!! Thanks so much, Azamy!
Really glad that you like these videos so much! Is very nice to read you every weekend :))
Me encantan tus trip reports!
I had the exact same flight and aircraft but in Paris CDG
Tarom still flies the A318
Correct. I thought they had retired them already...
And Tarom has an A318 (YR-ASD) in its fleet and continues to fly with it
Oh! I thought they had retired them.
Thanks fot the info.
Tarom flys also with a318
yeah, I thought they were already retired, but apparently that was delayed to to the end of the summer season this year.
How the heck was that person in front of you (when boarding) allowed to take so much ‘hand luggage’ onboard? Cracking report as always.
Well, that's a good question for the gate staff...
Great video, I never thought Air France did long-haul operations from Paris Orly?
Thanks!
Yeah, just a few destinations. :)
Nice video. Do you have a return flight ?
Great flight! I really have never flown on AF, but from your video it looks like nothing special. I was really happy to see those sunny and fresh views ☀️:) And, if i'm not mistaken it was standing AF a320 at the gate when you were taxiing to the gate?
Thanks! :)
That's correct. Air France has an A320 based in the caribbean (in Fort de France or Pointe-a-Pitre).
I was just disappointed how AF transported it there
Loved the Air France ✈️ flight. Another super destination. Do you get to stay for a while or do you have to fly back immediately from all these get places you take us? Loved seeing one of my favorite planes at Orly airport- TUI with its smiley face. 😊. Great trip👍🏻🙋🏼♀️🇺🇸
Thanks!!
It depends on the trip... in this one for example is stayed a couple of days. But many of the flights are connecting flights, even that I go out of the terminal building to finish the Trip Report :)
Flew on an Air France flight where the crew knew about severe turbulence 4 hours in advance and did nothing to adjust the plan. Never again.
Next time take an Air Europa flight from Madrid to lima in Peru
For now I dont have that route on the plan... we'll see..
This is my first video on this channel and I agree with other comments that it was well-made. But hey, I'd swear there was something about storms in the headline?
THanks.
You can go to minute 15:07 and to minute 22:02 for that.
@@OnBoardHD Well alright, I concede that those are technically storms. I was, however, picturing torrential rain, lightning, high winds, bad turbulence, etc. But I _am_ glad you didn't actually experience all that! 🙂
At the Information With the A318 a I Think that Tarom Still Fly them
I knew they flew them, but I thought they were already retired. Thanks for the info ✈️
Crew rest: "Maximum Occupancy- 8 Crew Members. One Per Bunk."
Air France look to be a quite good airline
Food looked not too bad
Hope it was a good flight
And again good looking legs you have 😄😄👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍
I think its partner, KLM, is ahead of AF in economy class, but AF product is quite good as well. ✈️✈️
Thank you for sharing this amazing video.with your videos I am feeling like I am traveling with you.wishing all the best and keep filming
Thanks so much for the kind feedback! It was a great flight!
Hello, do you also do the flight report for the FDF Paris Orly return?
Nice video! At 17:34 you said you were 5'9 which is 175 cm but it's wrong😉 Because as you are 180 cm tall, that means you are 5'11.
5,9ft is more than 179cm.
5,1 ft is 155cm.
Absolutely not. 179 cm is near 5’11
Hey man You miss to Say how was the food, Salute!
Nothing special to be honest. 😕
Have you tried Delta One in Delta's flagship or a330-900neo?
No, never flown on the A330neo. But I've flown the Delta A350 from Atlanta to Paris.
Here you have the Trip Report: th-cam.com/video/9G340EXAD5U/w-d-xo.html
By the way TAROM also has A318s! im from romania but never flown them
yeah, I thought they were already retired, but apparently that was delayed to to the end of the summer season this year.
@@OnBoardHD yea, btw pls fly tarom
A318 i saw in luxemburg with a 9H-ICE registration i think private jet maybe football team 😊 name of airline was comlux
Haha Yeah, but I was refering to commercial flighs hehe ✈️✈️
@@OnBoardHD romanian tarom there are commercial and have also A318
Great video,
Does AF have better economy product than KLM?
Would you transit through CDG or AMS?
Cheers, thanks
Based on ny experience no. I think KLM has a better economy class.
I would prefer to transit via AMS if I would have to choose.
@@OnBoardHD thank you!]
Que camara usas?
Está en la descripción de cada vídeo ;)
Love an empty flight. So much room to yourself 😅
Where are the storms you mentionned??? Seems like you've flown very little in tropical weather..
Seems that you dont know the definition of storm clouds.
