    I see myself as fundamentally flawed, so the idea that kev is the only person doing the adjusting is so far from the truth. What you're witnessing in real time is me making my needs and wants known outwardly in a way that's never been done in my life (just say it campaign). So while I still work on myself a lot ( in fact the very day we filmed this I was listening to a marriage podcast), what I am asking of kevin is to do the same in a way that was never required of him in the past. What goes unnoticed are the adjustments and accommodations that I make that are implicit or unspoken (remember the podcast episode about This Is Us). I also wanted to point out the podcast is from my POV, what I will do better about is making sure kevin's side is told. This is a matter of formatting rather than a view into our reality. He mostly hears the topic once we start filming so I've already thought out points and topics to discuss where he hasn't had that time. hopefully this all makes sense.

      Thanks for allowing us to see you in a vulnerable way. I hope it was therapeutic for you as it was for us. You are not alone in thinking of our own flaws and the barriers they create. Imagine how much happiness we'll all be once we let go and release more. Thanks again. 👍🏼

      There is a place in THE BIG LEAP that states, "You dissolve it( the ULP) by shining a laser like beam of awareness on it's underpinnings- the false foundations that hold the Upper Limit Problem in place." You did it!!!👏🏾👏🏾👏🏾👏🏾👏🏾 Shined you lazer of truth on the false foundation of your upper limit problem and it dissolved right before our very eyes. It was inspiring to watch. You probably already knew that though.

    I started crying before Melissa had that revelation because I have the same issue. Whenever I assume that I'm not a good fit for an opportunity that someone else offers, I convince myself that they don't really know what they're asking for and turn it down. But people don't see us the way we see ourselves. I often view myself through a painfully critical lens, and people don't see me through that lens, they think I'm dope lol. I have to constantly remind myself that my view of myself is not always the most accurate. The truth is, I'm useful, impactful, and pretty great JUST LIKE THIS. It's a rough concept, but I'm finna grasp this because self-sabotage is not the wave.

    You can’t listen to that conversation out of context you need to hear the whole thing it’s really beautiful...she was talking about even when you don’t feel good even when feel inadequate “LIE” to me like you do the world...smile at me like you smile at those you don’t like ! etc...it’s similar to the expression “keep the peace”

    • @MystiqueMakeup
      @MystiqueMakeup 4 ปีที่แล้ว +5

      Yes I was thinking the same thing. The context has to be understood.

    • @chrysanthemums4963
      @chrysanthemums4963 4 ปีที่แล้ว +7

      Yes! The gist of the conversation was missed. To reiterate, she was coming from a place of dealing with a man who more than likely goes through hell at work, but keeps a smile on his face in the process to keep his job. However, he unleashes his frustrations and anger onto his wife who didn't contribute to that behavior and destroys the peace at home. Plus, let's not forget the things black men had to go through during those times at work and as result, black women suffered at home. In that case, I would say the same thing, LIE TO ME LIKE YOU LIE TO THEM WHITE PPL AT WORK.
      All this talk about being honest regarding going to bed when you're tired is true (honestly is needed), but doesn't correlate to what the women in the video was saying as she was talking about peace.

It is always, become your best self then you get what you want and deserve in your life. I'm only 3:30 mins in but for the Nikki Giovanni clip, you really should watch their full talk. That clip makes a lot more sense when you see their full conversation. She's not talking about "tired from work" fake she's talking about how Black Women catch physical and verbal abuse from Black Men because we're the only ones they can release their frustrations out on. She's saying fake niceness and happiness to me.

    I hope that they watched the entire interview, and not just that small excerpt. It was a nearly two hour conversation, and I felt like she was pushing back on the point of view that Mr. Baldwin represented as a black man. She gave him her point of view as a black woman. He comes to the conclusion that he must choose for whom he can wear the mask.
    Wearing a mask for the "white man" leaves him with no outlet for expressing anger, aggression, and other unacceptable emotions during work hours. Those emotions get unloaded at home with the ones he loves. He brings his toxic energy home to her because he has no other outlet.

    • @lashawnjaynay
      @lashawnjaynay 4 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Yes, thank you for your comment. I saw the entire interview and felt that the excerpt was related more to how the black man acts inside/outside of the home partly due to racism and that your family should get the same smiling and pleasantries given outside of the home.

      The full context of this conversation makes good sense. It might seem like she is telling him to not be his authentic self at home, but that is not true. She point out that he is selective with his authenticity, and thus brings home his misplaced anger. His family experiences him through a "the world kicked my behind all day long" filter.

I think behind the scenes Liss gives Kev advice on the business side, including the financial aspect of how much to charge Patreon members. However, when Kev shares it comes across as pitting Liss against the Stage Crew and makes her seem greedy which is not the case. It's all about how and what you share.

The best part of this program is watching two solid, Christian, humble, God fearing, articulate, and gifted people offer up their opinions in such a relatable manner. What Melissa said about "making sure you have a solid foundation for your next step...even if you don't know what that next step might be"...STANDING OOOOOOOO!!!! I woke up thinking about this video so I’m back today to make this comment. The podcast is awesome & transparency is amazing! You already know that and I really resonated with what Melissa was saying. As we focus on our own flaws and compare ourselves to others sometimes we feel like we’re not qualified to be in the room because of our “difference” that we mistake for inadequacy... We often never consider that we were supposed to be in the room because it needs the difference we bring In our authentic way.
    Y’all feel like family and all of us wants the world to see what we see!

Some of us "serious" women, don't always feel light enough to be fun!!! This is very limiting for us when it comes to other opportunities we don't think we're capable of but God may be putting in our path just for us. You ARE NOT alone, Melissa. It does stem from a nervousness of putting our whole self out there to the world because with that comes a show of our flaws, too. I'm 26 and get it 1000% ❤

    Such a great episode! Kev was lowkey preaching. I totally relate to Melissa's revelation, that's my issue too and why I've held myself back on some things that I am currently walking forward in.

    PS. Anytime Kev is doing the sponsorship message and he says keyword love. You have to sing LOVE. It cracks me up every time I hear it lol

    1:13:15 not even potential, but really just the actual value as is!! Kevin is right that people see that in themselves. Melissa ain't none of us out here with it all together. Also, I would like to request that I be able to offer that you don't even need to be explaining yourself to folks that don't get it mama. Like you out here being vulnerable and so darn transparent. How can you take anything away from this but appreciation. Anyway. I'm talking real tough right now, but you really be verbalizing my inner thoughts and emotions (even where you were talking about just accepting that one thing works for you here and not there). Like are you watching me?!! I just appreciate you. 💐

    Melissa, I want to encourage you to embrace those so called "broken pieces". Because those are part of what draw people to you. People appreciate genuineness and transparency. You are not just a broken person. You are in your words, "ALL👏🏿OF👏🏿THE👏🏿THINGS👏🏿". I want you to walk whole heartedly and boldly in that!! Never shrink or try to dull your shine. The things you have to offer to the world are God given and God makes no mistakes. I love you and continue to glow❤❤❤
