This episode remains a perennial favorite of 60s sci-fi fans and has continued to show how TV of this era was not frivolous
Cliff Robertson and The Galaxy Being were superb in this thriller.
I still say this show should have started in the 1950's with a bigger audience.
It would have 5 or 6 seasons easy.
One of the best episodes of the Outer limits. Our police and army, sure proved what the alien was saying, about the people on this planet 🙄
My favorite part is the beginning where the guy ask the alien (when he first makes contact - viewing him in this 3D TV system in the engineering building of the radio station up the hill that the guy created) - "Where you come from, do you believe in God" The Alien says "Explain" He does then the Alien says "Infinity , God is Infinity - all the same" My 2nd favorite is when the Alien says "we are forbidden to contact you (meaning mankind). The guy asks why and the Alien relies "your kind is very dangerous"
The original title for "THE OUTER LIMITS" title was from its TV pilot, "PLEASE STAND BY", which ABC rejected, sighting the previous tensions with The Cuban Missile Crisis in 1962. While Leslie Stevens and his Daystar Productions company were shooting "STONEY BURKE" (1962-1963), He and his company, along with ABC and United Artists Television officially began filming "PLEASE STAND BY" at MGM in late 1962, and after the ABC executives viewed the TV pilot, Stevens was given the Green Light to series, and that's how "THE OUTER LIMITS" started, which used the TV pilot, making a few minor changes, and on Monday, September 16, 1963, on The New ABC, "THE OUTER LIMITS" made its debut with "The Galaxy Being", as viewers "Thrill to the awe and mystery of the hidden world", in what was one of TV's finest science fiction anthologies ever created! Look for future "M.A.S.H." producer, Burt Metcalf, who appears as a replacement DJ, while "Allen Maxwell" (Cliff Robertson) is pressured into joining his wife Carol (Jacqueline Scott) at a ceremony in honor of his works, while the unsuspecting DJ tampers with the radio frequencies that brings The Galaxy Being on Earth. a great opener for a superb anthology series!
This was so fantastic for the era. Really was.

@@georgehenderson7783 -- Thank you! I remember watching "The Galaxy Being" (the first OL episode) when it premiered on ABC TV. Even as a teen (back then) I appreciated the deep and profound message of that particular episode.
A treatise on a particularly human flaw - that which is alien *must* be evil ... even when it proves it is not.
The only intelligence humans have known is thier own, and you see how well that's going.
It was a common theme - the aliens often had noble intentions, sometimes becoming victims of the human monsters. "The Bellero Shield", "The Chameleon", "Nightmare", even "The Zanti Misfits", turning the alien invasion trope on its head.......
@@lesnyk255 Exactly - and I always found myself enjoying that aspect of the sci-fi genre .... "would we actually recognize benevolence if it arrived?" - PS - There's a good new-gen Outer Limits episode called "Trial By Fire" if you've not seen it yet - I think you might like it! :)

I saw this episode in its' original airing. To this day, I fail to understand why Maxwell allowed the alien to save that bitch. He caught a life changing break and threw it away. Incredible.
She may have been Naggy but he still loved her. And I’m sure at heart she loved him. She just didn’t want to be ignored. ☺️❤️
