Step by step directions on how to take a mature bougainvillea and turn it into a bonsai. Trimming it back, removing crossing branches, root pruning, and planting in a smaller bonsai pot.

Beautiful plant before and after!! Is that sundown orange and did you add any supplements to the wate?

Thanks! Yes I believe so on the color. It kind of changes between more orange to coral the longer the flowers are on the branches. I actually used just water for quite some time to take it as easy as possible on the roots. After a couple months to let the roots establish I gave it a flower boosting liquid fertilizer to promote flowering. I’ll do that every once and again after pruning off old flowers.
