    I also agree with your choice of front. The bottom 2/3 of the tree looks like a sitting elephant, with its trunk up in the air, to me.😃👍

    Agree for the front ... let see the growing branch up of the trunk... to make the neck of the crown❤

    I like the second front with the cascading branch on the left. I think that makes more sense to how the trunk flows and also hides the trunk chop.

    I love bougainvillea! Someday hopefully mine will be that thick... Going for a nice big canopy on mine. I like your choice for front as well!

    What a beautiful tree - never need a bougainvillea with such an interesting trunk, and flowers to boot!

    Jelle, first thank you for taking the time to share your knowledge and experience, its been helpful for me just starting Bonsai. I have Bougainvillea of two different colours that grow in my yard the size of trees, I have to cut them back often since these plants are full of vigor. So I came here for some tips. I think the cut end that will take a decade to scar over would look best facing to the right side when looking at the "Front" of the Tree. The back and forth flow of the tree can really embrace a Moyogi or Shaken style.

    Definitely the front that you have chosen. The trunk flows very well. A lovely looking tree.

    I'm curious why you would not smooth over that 30mm cut to let it start healing. I almost always smooth cuts as I go. It gives them a head start on healing.

    I think the other side of the tree is the best front 😎Dennis

    Would love to see some update videos on this tree. I have a few bougs I’m growing as bonsai. Not nearly as big as this fatty though?

      This is one of my unhappy trees at the moment. We have had rain since November, it is dark and cold; They do not like this.

      I see what you are saying. To me, I just loose too much of the trunk in that perspective.

    I think it will look nice in a cascade style

    • @GrowingBonsai
      @GrowingBonsai  ปีที่แล้ว

      It could but as this is a layer, the roots are pretty much all in the sample plane, and tilting the tree would cause challenes there.

    Maybe turn it into cascade someday?its like talking to you..."turn me to cascade!! turn me to semi-cascade"😂😂

      @GrowingBonsai  ปีที่แล้ว

      The rootbase is however not talking that talk!

    Can you explain why you want the front of the tree over one of the feet on the pot?

    • @rennersjewelry544
      @rennersjewelry544 ปีที่แล้ว

      Its a round pot.

    • @GrowingBonsai
      @GrowingBonsai  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      This is just one of the conventions when using round pots. The font EITHER with a foot right below it, or right in the middle between feet.
