When is the best season to plant large bougainvilleas ? … could I plant them in the dark basement where the winter temperature is warmer ? . Christopher Island of Cyprus
Some people just have a talent to teach and explain thing well and Mr Sony Le has that talent. The idea about slowly changing the humidity by cutting the plastic is such a great idea... thank you.
You are a star...!!! I have a 11 year old Bougainvillea... and cannot make it flower or stop growing those looong... branches... Thank you... I so needed this tutorial and .. your bird bath...is Amazing...!!! I'm your new fan... 🌺🌻🌺🌻🌺🌻😘❤
Wonderful to see the process. I felt satisfaction as if I had done the work. Today and yesterday I bought a Bougainvillea and a large Desert Rose for the continued connection at home👍🏻
Very nice. You live in Florida and the warm & humid environment is a huge benefit for germination and growing. Others who live in hot and dry areas may not experience the same success.
I am from India and a beginner in bonsai gardening ... Very detailed video of yours .. I liked it and will try to implicate your technique... Thanks for sharing your knowledge
Mr. Le, thank you once again for your incredible video. I love your cement pot one and now your Bonsai one looks simple and achievable. Can not wait to try out your idea. Thank you. Awesome 🌺
This was amazing. I have never seen cuttings strike from such large trunks. Thank you so very much for sharing this. I’m not sure if I could replicate this in the UK (quite a bit colder here!) but it’s always worth a try? Thank you again.
Mr Le please what is the white paint on top of the trunk? Is that necessary to be done please send me a picture of the paint container,,,thank you Lola
I have that plant direct to the soil and put the branches in my concrete fence, now they bear very beautiful flowers. But i never plant in a pot.I will do the same way to propagate new ones.thanks for your video sir .
I would suggest that if you own the donor plant to air layer the pieces you want rather than take large cuttings. That should have a higher success rate for large pieces. Plenty of videoed on TH-cam on doing air layers. Large cuttings are good when you don’t have long term access to the parent plant but less reliable than air layering.
Thanks for sharing. Very nice video. Did you water the it again after you remove the 1st plastic sheet before putting on the second plastic cover or you just put the second cover on without adding anything?
When you apply rooting harmone powder to the stems, you burried under sand, then you watered full tray. Does the rooting harmone still stick to the stem or it will be washed aways as you water them???
Mr. Le, I so enjoy watching your videos. They are very easy to understand and follow. I bought a couple of these small plants last year, I’m hoping they will have new growth this year. We had a cold winter and I covered them to protect them but I’m very worried if they survived or not. Can you give me any tip for a young plant to help boost its chances of regrowth after a cold winter.
I took a cutting and stuck it in a pot. It turned brown and I forgot about it. Many months later I was cleaning up and noticed 1 tiny leaf starting. Now its a big bush in my yard.
Keep few small branhes when u do the large cut. That will tell which side is the head. Can remove the small branches when applying water-based paint on the head.
Thank you Mr. Le for this video. I learned more. But my problem is where to buy or order the All Purpose Sand. I cant find it on line. Pls. Help me. Thank you & God Bless!
Excellent video. There seems to be enough sand and soil to hold the cuttings. Is it important to tie them together? Also your weather seems to be hot and humid looking at the fast growth. Flowering from cutting in 3 months. Thats incredible.
Hi..what kind of sand did you used. Also where can I buy it. How many time do I have to water the cutting? Lowes or Home depot have play sand, beach, and construction sand. Which one should I use please advise. Looking forward to see more of your videos. thank you!
Hi, when you removed the plastic the first time i noticed that you applied something on the cut portion of the branch that is color white can you tell what was it? Also can i ask if you water the basin before you cover the plant for the second time? Thank you very much your video is very informative!
Great information, definitely will plant this but I leave in Canada. I hope this will survive in the winter but I am going to put them inside my house.
Hi Sony. Great video. Did you seal the top of the large pieces. When you first wrapped the container, the tops were bare wood. When you opened it 6 weeks later, it had a pale blue-grey coating on it. Am I seeing that right? What was the coating?
Yes DK, some how my camera missed that part when I paint the top cut. As I mentioned in the video that need to seal at 5:27 , sorry for the confusions. Thank you so much
Thx for an amazing demonstration! Did you water at all during the period when you covered with plastic? Did you place the pot on sun or shaded area? Thanks once again🙏🏽
Mr. Le, thank for a lovely video.Thr end result was just WOW ! I will certainly follow you and try this method. But, do tell me whether we can use this method for all types of tree trunks and get good results ? Or will this be possible only with bogunvilla ? Thanks in advance.
Great job!!!! I absolutely love your videos!!! You are so helpful!!! I wanted to ask you what kind/brand of paint you use to cover your cuts?? Thank you again!! Keep up the good work!!!👍
Sir thank you very much for the video. But can I ask you a question. After covering the plants completely with the plastic bag, how can you water the plants. Please do clarify me on this issue because I am not sure if I need to water the plants every day to keep the soil moist..Thank you beforehand, I am waiting impatiently for your answer.
Never water during this time. The plastic will hold the water/ moisture inside, it can not evaporate. That is why I watered it first before cover it by a plastic sheet.
Nice video, I’m trying this as well. Do you need to water it after the first watering? Or just cover it with plastic and leave it be until it starts to sprout?
I read a comment, your name is Lee from South Korea, I retired from the U. S. Army and I spend 14 months in tonduchon , is not the right spell, but I still remember the pronunciations . You're from their. Kansamidad
thank you so much for your serving. We are all appreciated that. I am from south of Vietnam, I respect and appreciate any of you who served in Korea or Vietnam or anywhere else. Best regards
Questions. For the big branches when sealed you don't water them for the 6 week period? And same for the smaller 2-3 week branches. Don't add water for the whole time sealed? Thanks!
Yes Sir. No water during the whole time. The plastic keep the water from evaporation. I forgot to mention in the video that leave it in the partial shade/sun. Thank you

This is the best video on the topic. The tip for cutting holes in the plastic cover really helps the cuttings to get accustomed slowly.

I didn't even think that was possible. Thank you for sharing sir. Cheers
I love to garden but I’ve never tried Bonsai. I look forward to your next instructional on Bougainvilleas. I will give it a try after that video.

Thank you for sharing, Mr Le! Great and awesome video!!! Amazingly achievable..cannot wait to try your method:)
I don't have rooting powder. Can I skip that or use something else instead?
Mr. Le, Hi, i think you did not paint the cuttings when you were planting them, how can you tell where is the head and where tail ?
It's hard to tell which one is head or tail for the large cut, but if you carefully observe them, you can tell. Thank you
Keep few small branhes when u do the large cut. That will tell which side is the head. Can remove the small branches when applying water-based paint on the head.
Thank you for the idea you shared. I will do the same to my 6 years old Bougainville's plant.
