  • We started our day at Cromlix House where we enjoyed another wonderful meal at Chez Roux. Our time here was to short but the day promised even more adventures as we headed out to explore more of Scotland.
"Me" turned our car towards Glencoe, and we settled in watching the beautiful countryside fly by. Our day has turned a little rainy but we are NOT letting that stop us!
Glencoe is a glen in the Scottish Highlands, famous for its deep valleys and towering snowcapped mountains. Glencoe's valley offers some of the Scottish Highlands' best scenery and hikes, and a good dose of history.
We stopped along A82 in Glencoe to see The Meeting of the Three Waters waterfall at the base of The Three Sisters Mountains. It is right off the road and worth a stop.
Our next destination was the Clan Cameron Museum. I am a Cameron by birth so this was a special stop just for me (Mrs. Karnes). Clan Cameron is a West Highland Scottish clan, with one main branch Lochiel, and numerous cadet branches. The Clan cameron lands are in Lochaber and within their lands lies Ben Nevis. The Chief of the clan is referred to as simply "Lochiel". Achnacarry Castle is where the chief of the clan resides. This was an interesting stop full of history! If you are a "Cameron", you shouldn't miss it!
Inverlochy Castle Hotel is a 19th-Century baronial mansion near Fort William, Scotland. It is located about two miles from the 13th century Inverlochy Castle, after which it is named. It was built in 1863 by James Scarlet, 1st Baron Abinger. This beautiful hotel in the Scottish Highlands is a 5 star, luxury hotel, located in the shadow of Ben Nevis, the highest mountain in the U.K.
We went for a beautiful, be it soggy, stroll on the Victoria Path. This walk takes you through "Enchanting" forests and all around the grounds of the hotel.
In the evening we went to the fine dining restaurant Michael Roux, and enjoyed a 5 course tasting menu with wine pairings. I felt like I had been transported to another time.

Growing up on an housing estate in Glasgow all the street names were named after all the castles in Scotland, came in very handy later in my history and geography exams in school 😂
