On this channel we like to do a lot of dogfighting most videos are some sort of dogfight between 2 different aircraft as we explore their different capabilities. From time to time I like to dabble in Virtual Reality, I think VR is a great new technology and I love to show that stuff off for the channel from time to time.
If you prefer more up close and personal dogfights consider the IL-2 Sturmovik: Great Battle series and experience intense WWII aerial combat over famous battlefields such as Stalingrad, Moscow, Rhineland and Normandy. Fight in and against Russian, American, German, British warbirds such as the P-51 Mustang, P-47 Thunderbolt, Bf-109, FW-190, Spitfire, Hurricane and rugged IL-2 Sturmovik attack plane. You can also fly legendary SPADS, Fokkers and Camels in WWI dogfights over the trenches of WWI and discover your inner Red Baron! And all of this can be experienced in jaw dropping virtual reality!

@@gaberobinson8210 Super maneuverability tech would not be used very often. They put aircraft at low energy states that leaves them vulnerable, which is why American aircraft don’t use it.
This battle happened in real life in 1999 when Eritean Mig-29s fought Ethiopian Su-27s

The low altitude makes it MUCH more compelling. Would’ve been great to see the end of the fight from the 16th fairway perspective.

Can you do a guns-only video with the Su-33 vs the Su-27, showing off the performance difference between the two. I'm interested to see how much the 33 had to sacrifice for carrier capability.
Su33 is more mission capable but 10% less performance with that heavy landing gear.
The 33 has better electronics on account of being newer, which may well offset the difference in raw performance
GS once explained in a video that the canards added maneuvrability, but it was compensating the extra weight so in the end their performance in dogfights was almost the same.

I love how you both evolve during the fights. Round 1. Cobra kill. Round 2. Tries cobra. GS has gone high and now long shot has no speed. It's wonderful to watch. Really good quality videos. Well explained. You keep us on the edge of our seats.
I've had an idea for a Raptor video:
Take every maneuver (or as many as possible) from the F-22 airshow demonstration and show how it could be used in a dogfight
Also, I like the new "victory" graphics! It might be small, but it's a great way to continue to improve the content
I did this in ace combat. The high AOA loop, hoover pitch, min radius turn, and a few others worked there and pissed a lot of people off. Switched to playing sim on warthunder and I finally feel unshackeled. Feels like the WW2 dogfights we occasionally see GS do but with less congested airspace.
Nice video. It equals reality in the Ethiopian-Eritrean war, where the Su 27 was pitched against the Mig 29. The Su 27 came out victorious, which made the Eritreans replace the Mig 29 with the Su 27
Jets are multi functional, when no longer in use, they make excellent instant fire pits for backyards and patios.
AFAIK, MiG-29 had best vertical rate among rivals, before F22 era, at least. Kinda 1.5 higher than F16.

Just started the clip.... Let me REMIND you, MiG 29, after the 1990, when the western Europeans saw it, they got astonished. The optical device in front of the plane , allow a missile to TRACK and IGNORE chaff/ flare until reaching the target. This small device made aerial dogfight useless. MiG will always HIT the target. No matter the plane orientation. You cannot escape the missile due optical tracking either visual, either thru the targeting screen. Advanced is little said. The computer instructs the missile to ignore anything until target. 100% hits, unless missile failure...
I remember the article, about the MiG 29, in the 1990... been 31 years since. If you put this setting in, no escape for no plane. And, people say, that was the trigger for the UAV development... Or a great motive... later, Su got the same tracking device... And work with the smart bombs, either...
But, no one miss a good dog fight, nevertheless...

The production quality of your videos is top notch. Very professional. Also the graphics in DCS look really amazing in this video. The graphics in the latest release of DCS always look really good, but for some reason they look even better in this video. Being low altitude helps, but even compared to other low altitude videos, the graphics in this video really stand out. There were multiple times when watching this video that I felt like I was watching video of a real air show, not a video game.

Btw that map reminds me of my old house at Smungli near the airport, we had a similar golf course only that it was all dried up, but the good thing was one would get to see those JF17s and F7PG taking off every now and then :D

I think that first Fox-2 in your second clash is a great demonstration of the max turn rate of the missile, as we can see almost a circular ark of your missile trying to point at the 27.

Reminds me of when I was stationed in Korea and we would get A10s from Osan Air Force base constantly doing straffing practices over Camp Casey/Hovey; it was so loud that good I’d be playing on Xbox with would ask what that noise was.

When you can see their gold Major clusters and silver Captains bars, they are LOW over the neighborhood. Vipers were more fun to watch, when they were stationed here. They would pull max performance turns over the big lake when boats with bikini clad women were spotted. Yeah, Lieutenant I saw you lift your visor to get a better look... you stood that jet on it's tail and selected zone 5 like an ace, to stay suspended like that... niiiice. 😘

The Mig 29 is one of the best looking aircraft in my opinion. Along with the F-14. This was fun to watch!

The fact that those old ass aircraft can do similar low-speed maneuvers to the F-22 is crazy. Really love the redfor aircraft to death just because of how fun they are to fly, especially in the merge.
The F22 maneuverability is nothing impressive to be honest. I know, it gets into the 10 most maneuverable aircrafts serially produced, but that's it.
@@karjalasta at higher speeds this is true, but the low speed maneuverability is much higher and the raptor can also perform controlled flat spins and essentially depart flight to maneuver for position. It’s also designed to kill you 15 miles before the merge so you never get a chance to dogfight.
@@alpine7313 Yes it has got partial 2D thrust vectoring engines (not full 2D because lacks features, the twin nozzles work together). The thing is... It has the potential be extremely maneuverable, It's sad the designers didn't exploit that. I guess they did put more attention to other aspects, for example to make it as stealthy as possible.

I'm still torn between these two aircraft. I love them both equally and I think that in a dogfight with these two, it comes down to a mix of luck and skill rather than the aircrafts performance
It may just be me, personally, but I would love to get to see some Su-33 action. I know it's a little bit bigger, a little heavier than the original -27, but it looks so distinctive, and I wonder if the addition of Canards is a plus or minus to a dogfight scenario.

Haha. I love both you guys - but the difference in styles is very clear to see in this video. GS is more tactical and technical. LS is aggressive and a risk taker. You even see it in the "Two Idiots" videos (I love those BTW). LS is always like "shoot shoot shoot." But GS is waiting to perfectly line up that shot with technical maneuvering. I would love to see them dog fight using the same exact planes (equal scenario). Keep it up guys.
It’s crazy to think that these two super maneuverable super sonic aircraft are duking it out in a box effectively a few square miles. Just goes to show just how maneuverable these aircraft are.

Read about the Eritrea vs Ethiopian war in the 1990's where Eritrean Mig-29's took on Ethiopian Su-27's and lost badly... seems as though the Mig-29 cannot get a break...
The Su variant jets were always my favorite in a bunch of the Ace Combat games.

MiG-29 was not yet equipped with a fly by wire system. Mastering it was supposed to be a rather rewarding feat as far as I know.
