    Thanks for the video, great to better understand the internal workings. I have a brand new Konnected Joe and the AFS keeps tripping my power outlet. Even when I light in classic mode and set temperature for auto mode, it never gets above 120F. I suspect there is an issue with the fan unit (even though I can hear the fan running), or some blockage.

    • @RumandCook
      @RumandCook  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I’d reach out to KJ. I know the first batch had an issue with ignition coil. Might not be it, but they should be able to get you fixed up. Def shouldn’t do that. Make sure you are plugging it directly into the wall and not like a power strip in the mix. 🍻

    Wow. What a perfect video to show the internal workings of the Konnected. I was close to pulling the trigger on a YS640 but held off based on some of your comments. I've been a Weber guy for a while (Kettle/WSM) but I really like the looks of this Kamado. You are a superb salesman! Now I feel like I can watch some of the Konnected cooks and better understand the grill that I'm leaning towards. Looking forward to some more #outdoorbbq and #kamadocooking in the future. Thanks much for posting!

    #outdoorbbq #kamadocooking I can understand why some folks are skeptical about the Konnected Joe but can also understand why Kamado Joe words their responses the way they do. They need to protect the company. Any grill that has some sort of electronics will have the same concerns.

    • @RumandCook
      @RumandCook  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Yeah for sure. Encouraging customers to leave it plugged in during rain is a law suit waiting to happen. 🍻

    Very informative video. Judging by the wiring harnesses and the molex connectors I would say you should be fine using it in the rain. As safe as any other pellet cooker. It would take a lot of wind to push water into those cavities and normal rain running down the side should be no issue. Thank you for the great videos. #outdoorbbq #kamadocooking

      Thanks, glad you enjoyed it. One thing that doesn’t show due to the lighting is the front controller is protected by the silver plate that has a full lining of white heat protection foam. Be tough for water to get through the layers. 🍻

    Since I got my Workhorse 1975 with the cowboy grill I've had a little more interest in more direct fire type cooking. The Workhorse is great for when I have large family gatherings, but I am thinking of adding in something else smaller for just my own use. #outdoorbbq #kamadocooking

    I had nothing but problems with Konnected Joe’s electronics and the app. It never worked without requiring a hard reset and even after that it would become unresponsive again after a short while. I ended up returning the unit. I would like to buy another if they fix these issues in an updated version. I would not recommend it to anyone until then. It looks well built but I would rather get the classic. Their customer service is terrible. It’s a shame they have these problems and it’s not easy to get support.

    • @RumandCook
      @RumandCook  7 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Hrmm interesting. I didn’t have any issues like that outside of if you didn’t connect it to 2.4GHz WiFi it would have issues. I’d personally spend the extra money and just get a Big Joe. 🍻

    • @aec258
      @aec258 7 หลายเดือนก่อน

      @@RumandCook I don't think you can connect it to 5GHz, 2.4GHz is required. If it worked I would not return it, it's amazing to be able to go 10+ hours without touching it. Only reason I managed to complete my cookings was thanks to Meater probe. I think the longest I had it working without requiring a reset was 3-4 hours.
      Is it true Big Joe's ceramics are higher quality? I haven't had a chance to compare them side by side.

    • @RumandCook
      @RumandCook  7 หลายเดือนก่อน

      @aec258 you can’t connect to 5GHz, but if your 5GHz and 2.4GHz networks are named the same it doesn’t work well. I ended up creating a uniquely named 2.4 network for it to connect to and it solved a bunch of connection issues.
      If it was a unit problem I’m surprised they didn’t just send you a new front panel. It’s pretty easy to replace and all the important parts are in it.
      The Big Joe is similar quality, unless you go up to the series 3 which has a couple extra things on it. Really what you are getting is size. Once you know how to get your dials locked in you can hold 10 hours with no electronics. Just takes some practice. It’s all about the amount of air and getting your dial locked in. You may have a bit of movement but not that much.
      Hope this helps. 🍻

    • @aec258
      @aec258 7 หลายเดือนก่อน

      @@RumandCook Thank you for the response, in my case I have 2.4Ghz named differently so that wasn't the problem.
      When it worked for a bit it was really magical the way it holds temps. But the app and the connection issues made me feel so frustrated I couldn't trust anything the app shows but I have Meater charts to prove it.
      Their customer service did not offer any help other than generic steps to reset or whatever which was not something you want to do 20 times a day. It's just sad. It can't be only me because there are bunch of 1 star review on App Store. Also the customer service promised some software update which never arrived. I got the unit from HomeDepot and their customer service is top notch, they were able to come pick it up. If it was another company I would be stuck with it.
      I hope they come out and clean this mess with Konnected Joe, I personally feel like it's not a company that cares about their customers. Their website is broken too, you can not easily open a case or reach them.

    • @johnknapp6328
      @johnknapp6328 ปีที่แล้ว

      @RumandCook Your only person with some current content on KK. I'm curios with kk everything is so heavy duty to make setups similar to a kamato Joe there's alot more involved in grill arrangements. Same for searing small items takes alot more to get coals to temp and heat sink. Reason I'm asking I like the kk and Baby Back Maniac had one it was his first video and he never mentioned why he moved on so quick. There's another channel boring baby boomer he does not put out many videos he bought the big bad 42" and never did any cooking videos. What type of pitmaster would use the kk over other similar cookers aka kamato style cookers. It does seem like there is very little maintenance as far as band adjustments and hinge adjustments. Lastly what is flavor profile between kk and weber smokey mtn, you mentioned you had one. I have kettle22" and 22" wsm never have used the wsm yet, I never make that much quantity, I bought the Cajon bandit extension kit, it has similar capacity if you need it, easy clean up, just more attention on longer cooks. But I've noticed your use of kk is minimal same with napoleon, since you have kk I wanted to pic your brain. 1975 is amazing pit, I just think between wood acquisition and the need to throw a slit on every 45 mins, I don't know if I would use it that much. I would be curios for most people the ratio of grilling compared to large long low and slow cooks. I was thinking of what my pattern is and it ends up a couple spiral hams, 1 turkey, a couple pork butts, some ribs, otherwise it's grilling.

    • @RumandCook
      @RumandCook  ปีที่แล้ว

      The KK is hands down the nicest Kamado on the market. There is nothing close quality wise.
      When searing/grilling works the same as every Kamado, there is no need to heat soak it, just light some lump and start cooking.
      It does require a bit of extra heat soaking if you want to get maximum benefits from it, but an extra 20 tops.
      The KK is a luxury Kamado. There are many around that are 15+ years old and still working great. People buy one when they want the best. Think of it like buying a Wolf stove or Subzero fridge.
      As far as flavor profile, the meat you cook in a Kamado will be juicer and more flavorful in a Kamado vs a WSM. Both get get smoke though.
      The KJ is a great product as well. The price point is more affordable and you can turn out some great food on it as well.
      You’ll never hear my say anything bad about a KK. It’s purely a room and business decision for me. When I have more room I’ll have another KK on the patio. I may keep it and use it still. I’m just not going to do videos on it.
      Hope this helps. 🍻
