Maynard has a lot of animosity toward the church. His mom was very religious and was treated horribly by the church after she was paralyzed. A LOT of their music (and his work with A Perfect Circle) revolved around his struggle with watching what his mom went through, his love for her, and how the church fit into that. My understanding is that 10,000 Days refers to the number of days his mom lived after her injury/illness. Listen to Wings for Marie 1 & 2 and it’ll bring it all together for you. Plus, it’s a masterpiece.
This just reminded me of when KTF got finished with the song Aenema and he said "I'm gonna stop ranking my favorite Tool songs in order' cuz once you buy in to them as a band you really start to love them all because you recognize how uniquely genius they are

I have so much respect for the fact that you seem to actually grasp the weight of their songs. So many people just focus on the musicianship, which is phenomenal, btw. But the meaning behind the songs go so deep. Keep it up, man!

This song was written to draw your attention to how mankind treats each other despite the gifts given to us by god. I think they wrote it just for you.

Maynard is a genius of a songwriter. He’s also an Army veteran who also got an honorable discharge. After the Army, he went to art school

That's just this album and it's mostly because of legal issues with the label and lawyers it happens to allot of bands look at how many great albums apc has put out in that span so it's not like Maynard forgot how to make transcending music it's quite as good as TooL but it's still great music this new album is gonna be life changing
The lyrics are written after the instrumentals are done. The players don't rush the songs. I'm happy to wait for a polished album, but that's just me.

I find it cool as fuck that on these reaction channels even if the reactors don't immediately get Tool and like it by the time they get 5-6-7 songs in the reactors are usually all in and legit Tool fans by the time they're done they've come to the logical and correct realization that they're the greatest band in the history of arranging sounds in sonically pleasing rhythms 😂💯

Maynard was asked in an interview last year, when the next Tool album was coming out. Maynard said it is up to the band, they write the music which could take years, then send it to me for the lyrics. Then we get together and do our thing.

They have one of the greatest percussionists of all time. If you aren't familiar with all of their works, and like what you heard here, you're in luck because, ALL of their music is worth listening to. Also, if you ever get the chance to see them live, you really should.

It wasn't Maynard. It was all the lawsuits and legal tangle. Also, Maynard was waiting on the music to be composed. He is the last ingredient. He already had his songs ready and was waiting for the music to apply them to. According to a couple of interviews of caught of him

@@vegasviking86 Nah, he's re-written lyrics for songs multiple times because the rest of the band isn't satisfied with anything they wrote. The rest of the band is like Dr. Dre in the studio. They want the absolute perfect shit, but what's perfect changes every few months. Maynard has been a part of probably a hundred or more songs since the last tool album, between APC and Puscifer. Also, other dude was right. They were in a legal dispute with their label for most of those years. That's why they went from touring hundreds of days a year to in the teens.
Nothing you're saying is accurate. It doesn't even logically make sense since all of their released music didn't take close to 10-15 years.
