I've been shooting with the ZV-1 as my primary camera for six months (I also have the m50). For my purposes shooting videos, the quality and the compactness of the ZV-1 in unparalleled. Bought mine with the Sony grip and while I primarily use the Benro selfie stick tripod, I find the Sony grip to be a worthy investment because I can trigger the camera remotely - and when you have a camera with the weight of the ZV-1 on a selfie stick, it's very easy to knock that lightweight ballhead out of alignment just by pressing the button on the camera.
As my Nikon D5000 was stolen and I have a very old iPhone SE, I am trying to find out which camera/phone combination I should get for producing content for my two youtube channels. as well as private travel photography. The ZV-1, iPhone 12 Pro and or Canon EOS M50 are now on my shortlist.
@@GolfTesla The primary reason I got the ZV-1 was its size. My intention was for travel. Without any accessories, the ZV-1 will fit in your shirt pocket. Plus image resolution is very good, internal sound is not horrible and it has variable focal length with built-in ND (a game changer). I spent the first half of December finally getting out in the world shooting in Saudi Arabia (the videos have started popping up on my channel). Overall, I have to say that I am not disappointed. After using it for 18 months, I really like the ZV-1 and was very open to getting the E10 but the lack of internal ND dampened my enthusiasm. @@aleeza3001 here's the pros and cons i know for iPhone, but it's for all phones on general. Pros of phone: you always have it, super portable, very decent low light. More accessible and cheaper, can shoot raw Cons of phone: less zoom, front facing camera not flattering for faces (small lense distorts your face), looks less professional, having such a small lense makes images look flat because there's such a wide depth of things in focus. even my $199 canon PowerShot 360 ( a point and shoot) shoots better photos and video than my pixel 4 in good lighting conditions. the image/videos look way more vibrant and have more depth. Also, audio matters and an expensive camera still needs a mic if you can get it. With phones, you can just stick a wireless earbud or other mic in their hand and make them talk
The trouble, in my opinion, is that if you were going to snag one of these, you discover it's only a few dollars less than the interchangeable lens ZV-E10. Sony is its own biggest competition right now.
Hi River! I recently found your channel, and I absolutely love it whenever I need a review on a camera I go straight to your channel first. Can you please do a video about Fuji cameras? Like can you review some of your favorite Fuji cameras? Fuji x100f/v vs. Fuji xt3/30
How is overheating for the Sony? Cause that’s what ALWAYS turns me away from it. BUT I got the canon g7x mark iii a couple days ago and the autofocus is beyond HORRIBLE. I’m at a crossroads
Thank you for this video!🙏❤️ I have been wanting to make a workout program with professional video quality ...which camera (not too expensive) would you suggest for someone who knows nothing about cameras?😂 Like that I can buy and start filming right away without having to buy any additional stuff ect.
Hey! Great video, thanks! I am on the edge here. I have no camera yet and i want to buy a compact one, mainly for photo and 4k video with a nice bokeh. This camera currently is cheaper than an M50 or A6500. I was thinking about Panasonic GX80, which comes with a 12-32 mm lens, around between f3.5-f5.6 but I want a camera with a nice bokeh effect, so this kit lens is possibly not suitable for it. That's why I am thinking about ZV-1 or GX7 Mk. 3, these 2 are around the same price. What would you suggest?
Would you say this camera is a good investment for a beginner who wants to record blogs and shoot basic photos of concerts, home movies, theme park hangouts etc.
I haven't gotten this camera yet, But would it be good for filming trains? I have been trying to find a camera for MONTHS to replace my iPhone, and this ZV-1 looks good. Would it be worth it?
Thanks for the information. I've been looking at this camera for awhile. I have the Sony A6500 and GoPro 6. I like to travel but find that I carry too much equipment. One of the features I like is the size of the camera. I will wait for a good sale.
Yoo! i just got this camera for youtube videos! it will be nice if you show how to do those features that you were mentioning in the video. Im new to cameras. hopefully you get us back
I'm so interested in it as a sidekick to my DSLR but about a phone. I still carry a Canon S120 for better then a phone controls on the fly. How does this compare to Canon's low light monsters of few years ago?
I have an old Sony RX100 from like 2015... Will this feel like an upgrade or would I be better off going with something semi-professional? I like the small profile, but I also want to invest in a camera that will age well.
Am looking at this camera for my TH-cam videos, as I am an Astrophotographer, i have a few very expensive cameras for taking pictures of the deep night sky, but ATM just use a GoPro for my Chanel videos….
Love all ur reviews bud! Although if I’m not wrong in 4K the lens does act more like. a 30mm and not a 24mm.....which isn’t the case when shooting in HD. of course ur definitely more experienced than I am! So please correct me! But u nailed this review and how. I actually got into making tech reviews after watching ur channel! For a while😁 as a matter of fact I’ve legit watched ur cannon 90d / cannon m50 videos a bunch of time before I started 😁
My money spend well on this camera. After almost a year, still struggle to learn all the function. Can you share the best cinematic setting for outdoor shooting and Hlog asist.
Just found your channel. Very impressed with this review!😁 I was not aware that added different lenses was not an option for this camera. But, I mostly plan to use this (if I were to get it) as my Streaming cam, and for fun photos or vlogging. You did mention this would be ideal for those type of users. But, I am curious if there is any additional advantages to having a DSLR for use as a cam for at-desk videos/streaming/vlogging? Would love to hear that comparison before I finalize my purchase decision. 🤔
Sony a6500 is a good recommendation, but for some people who doesn’t want to invest on lenses and just want portability, affordability and lightweight compared to bigger apsmc and full frame body and lenses, this is perfect..

How is overheating for the Sony? Cause that’s what ALWAYS turns me away from it. BUT I got the canon g7x mark iii a couple days ago and the autofocus is beyond HORRIBLE. I’m at a crossroads
Thanks bro I’m starting my TH-cam journey with this camera 📸
Please do a video on the best editing softwares to use with this kind of camera. I’ve run into that issue so I’m having trouble with editing lol
Is there any Sony ZV-2 version will come ?
Would someone mind listing me the pros and cons of the zv-1 vs the g7x mark ii
How’s the mic on the camera?
Thank you for this video!🙏❤️
I have been wanting to make a workout program with professional video quality
...which camera (not too expensive) would you suggest for someone who knows nothing about cameras?😂 Like that I can buy and start filming right away without having to buy any additional stuff ect.
Would you recommend the Sony for outdoor trips?
yup! 100%
AMAZING
Is it worth buying for youtube content
Or 6400 plz suggest thank you??
Does it support automatic flash or manual flash gun? also can we use it as a web cam for the zoom meetings that lasts min one hour?
a lot of vloggers use it for streaming too
Would you say this camera is a good investment for a beginner who wants to record blogs and shoot basic photos of concerts, home movies, theme park hangouts etc.
I haven't gotten this camera yet, But would it be good for filming trains? I have been trying to find a camera for MONTHS to replace my iPhone, and this ZV-1 looks good. Would it be worth it?
Good video. You are almost at 100,000. Keep up the good work.
So close! thankyou!
One thing u seemed to miss is that the zv-1 recording time great not like a lot of cameras that have a 30 recording time.
Is this camera good for podcasts and interviews?
Question about the video aspects of the camera: Does it save long videos in 10 minute segments or does it just have continuous recording?
Continuous recording :)
any camera recommendation for travel photography/videography (beginner)? not an influencer but i do want my photos/videos to look good
Thanks for the information. I've been looking at this camera for awhile. I have the Sony A6500 and GoPro 6. I like to travel but find that I carry too much equipment. One of the features I like is the size of the camera. I will wait for a good sale.
Hello is it good for beginners
Yoo! i just got this camera for youtube videos! it will be nice if you show how to do those features that you were mentioning in the video. Im new to cameras. hopefully you get us back
honestly the best review ive seen in forever
I'm so interested in it as a sidekick to my DSLR but about a phone. I still carry a Canon S120 for better then a phone controls on the fly. How does this compare to Canon's low light monsters of few years ago?
Hi River, thank you for this informative video, can you please make a video on best budget full frame cameras??
I have an old Sony RX100 from like 2015... Will this feel like an upgrade or would I be better off going with something semi-professional? I like the small profile, but I also want to invest in a camera that will age well.
Are there any differences between the black and white versions of the ZV 1?
No just color
Thank you, so informative and concise, sharing this video with family, friends and work colleagues who ask me what camera to buy.
Hi There, what did you use to record audio on this review?
Fantastic review thank you very much!👍👍👍
Am looking at this camera for my TH-cam videos, as I am an Astrophotographer, i have a few very expensive cameras for taking pictures of the deep night sky, but ATM just use a GoPro for my Chanel videos….
My son is starting up his own TH-cam channel is this the camera for him?
Just found your channel. Very impressed with this review!😁 I was not aware that added different lenses was not an option for this camera. But, I mostly plan to use this (if I were to get it) as my Streaming cam, and for fun photos or vlogging. You did mention this would be ideal for those type of users. But, I am curious if there is any additional advantages to having a DSLR for use as a cam for at-desk videos/streaming/vlogging? Would love to hear that comparison before I finalize my purchase decision. 🤔
Oh, and forgot to mention. I have never owned a camera, outside of a webcam. So I am excited to learn about this sort of thing.😁
Did you find anything out?
Friend picked this up recently and the photo burst speed surprised the hell out of me.
Would this camera also double as a good street photography camera? Similar to a ricoh GR III?
Sony a6500 is a good recommendation, but for some people who doesn’t want to invest on lenses and just want portability, affordability and lightweight compared to bigger apsmc and full frame body and lenses, this is perfect..
Would you review super tracking object Canon camera in 2020,
