Is this the ULTIMATE Jabba the Hutt figure?

  • In this video, I show how I was able to combine parts from two different figures to make what might be the ultimate 3.75" scale Jabba figure.
    The creator of the throne and meat rotisserie I showed was Spaceport77-studio on eBay, but they don't appear to be selling anything at this time.

    I totally agree on the body swap. When you’re first introduced to jabba, despite his sluggish build, he’s presented as a very large and intimidating character. This combo really captures that. Great job!

    For anyone wondering, I used alcohol to wipe down the head after I removed it from the Walmart Jabba. I let it dry and did a second rub with more alcohol on a paper towel and then primed with rustoleum gray primer. I had zero issues with paint sticking after that. The denatured alcohol(rubbing alcohol) did the trick. Thank you again for mentioning me and providing a link to my Instagram!

    A good tip when repainting figs, always soak in a degreaser overnight, before doing anything.

    This couldn’t have been better timed. I just picked up my first Walmart Jabba last week and couldn’t believe how sticky he was - he was literally dripping! So to me that makes him almost unusable. Then your photos and video popped up and I’m definitely trying this. Already found a cheap vintage Jabba that also seems to have some light to dark shading so I’m hoping I don’t need to do any painting! Thanks for the idea!

    The answer is Yes. I use an automotive vinyl protectant called Formula 303 on the rubber Jabba. Seems to prevent the seeping issue, when I check on him in the Barge about once a year.

    Great custom Jabba! The combination looks much better that the when the figures were original..also cool that you could keep the Kenner mechanisme for the tail working!

  • @CaretakerWanted
    @CaretakerWanted ปีที่แล้ว +4

    Fantastic job! Gosh, I know my Walmart exclusive is rather sticky as well. Using rubber was a good idea initially because it gives that fleshy texture feel, but as time progressed, it makes you wish they had just completed his lower body with hard plastic. I know the rubber texture helped with the tail mechanism, but the range of motion for the tail was minimal.

    After seeing the finished product, I have ONE WORD...... WOW!
    It's astonishing how so many companies do the minimum when it comes to the details. Hasbro are the kings of this! Now I'm not bashing them completely since I own well over 300+ Star Wars Black Series figures, both the 6" & the 3.75" figures. The Comic book 2-packs, the Legends figures, any and all variations I've bought. Add my Marvel Legends figures and my GI Joe's to this list, and even a couple Transformers as well, and I easily probably can hit 500 figures. I also have the 3"-4" Marvel figures, as well as the DC Universe figures line-up of again the 4" and the 6"-7" DC Universe figures too. Yeesh I forgot about my Neca, my Japan Imports, Mafex, and my SH Figurarts anime figures from the Index anime and a few others. I never really thought about just how many figures I actually own? Add my Die-Cast car collection to this? OMG I need help! LOL!
    I have a few really rare and a couple of exclusives from Comic-Con events. My Obi-Wan Kenobi A New Hope SDCC Exclusive is one of my favorites with the Blue "glowing" Leia saying her iconic, "Help Me Obi-Wan Kenobi, your our only hope!" My other favorite is the Star Wars Sith Legacy set, along with the Mandalorian Legacy set as well. The 3.75" far better articulated figures are some of the best in my collection. Darth Plagueis is one of my top single favorite figures. Darth Revan too. But Darth Nihilus from the Sith Legends Legacy set is probably my favorite 3.75" figure. Oh I forgot about the Saw Guerrera 5 pack from if I remember correctly from the Rogue One series. I really wish I could set up a few dioramas from the Prequels to the Original Trilogy. Jabba's "castle" being at the top. I also picked up a set of figures with their accessories, but those weren't a standard BAF, or accessory set. It was the bar from the Cantina. The pieces came with Greedo, Snaggletooth, Walrus Man, and Hammerhead. There were also glasses 🥂 as well. It isn't colored very well and I've thought about painting it to look more Cantina Authentic, but people have sain NOOOO! You'll kill it's value! But I'm NOT a scalper, or even a seller. Some items I may part with but I'm NOT looking to make money. Yes it's cool to know I have some supposedly rare or expensive figures, but I have absolutely no desire to sell them, at least right now anyway. If anyone familiar with the bar accessories that came with those figures? And if so what is a good design for a customization paint job?

    SIR, You're braver than I. The only Jabba figure in my small collection was sold in Coles Supermarkets, Australia
    Jabba was one of the limited figures, one per box. Only found one, since random boxes were allocated only once
    He now rests in a zip-lock bag., along with a few other figures from the set. Date from late 1990s or early 2000s
    Reply if interested. It belongs to be displayed and not in a zip-lock bag. Possibly lost in a Galaxy, far, far away .. ..

    Fantastic Jabba custom, far better than anything Hasbro has done. Any chance of showing how to customize the new Hasbro pulse jabba's throne room playset (book of boba Fett throne room🙄) I have it and i love it but I am frustrated by the back wall section. They went way overboard with dark detailing on this wall (the back wall in 'Jedi' appears to be one flat colour, almost white) and there are some units on that wall that should be white too but for some reason they have made them dark grey. I want to change this but I don't know how.

    One trick ive used with varying degrees of success over the years for sticky figures is to submerge them in rubbing alcohol for a time. Doesnt always work but its been successful enough that Ive kept doing it haha. Not sure if this would work on the Jabba because toy companies seem to use any number of different plastics at any given time, so you never know what youre going to end up with, but it could something to try out and see if the result is something acceptable.

    • @MightyJabbasCollection
      @MightyJabbasCollection  ปีที่แล้ว +2

      I think I may have tried cleaning it with alcohol years ago. The thing is that even if you manage to clean it off, the paint job will generally get messed up in the process

    • @scotthallgv
      @scotthallgv ปีที่แล้ว

      @@MightyJabbasCollection I havent personally had issues with paint being damaged, but I have had the stickiness come back after a time and could see that being an issue potentially. It sucks, but a lot of these plastic break down faster than others which is where the stickiness comes from and theres littler you can do to avoid it. The softer the plastic the worse the problem is in general. I ended up selling my entire JLU collection because Mattel just used garbage plastic on nearly all the figures and I had some that literally disintegrated after a few years, and when I say disintegrated, I mean I picked them up and parts of them crumbled. Anyhow keep up the great work, always a pleasure seeing new uploads.

  • @Rogzilla71
    @Rogzilla71 ปีที่แล้ว

    That Hasbro head appears to be vinyl, not styrene like the Kenner body. There are paints specifically formulated to bond to vinyl and if you weren't using those, that could explain why it was rubbing off so easily.

    I have the Star Wars Black Series ⚫ 6" scale Jabba the Hutt figure. I also got myself a Slave Leia.....oops Hutt Slayer Leia....LMFAO! WTH? Anyway could I ask you a question or two?
    1)I have done some repaints with my Die-Cast car collection, and their interiors as well. They turned out great, but I've never customized a action figure. I also want to customize just a head of a Marvel Legends Magneto figure. He has these pony tails and I want to eliminate them, but I have worries that once I chop the tails? Any advice? Please anything will help me out! Especially say, what kinds of Paints to use, can you pull of the original paint apps or have to work over them? Being that I am 1,000% new to doing action figures I am not exactly confident. Again since to replace a Hot Wheels it's a dollar, but a Marvel Legends figure they now are insanely priced. Thanks for all you do and I appreciate all pf your dedication and hard work! Merry Christmas and Have a Wonderful New Years as well! God Bless you all! Take care and be safe!

      Could very well be, although I feel they would probably just rerelease the existing 3.75" version that they already have. I also think they probably won't be releasing a vintage-style Jabba figure in their retro line because the figure is pretty large and complex, and was made using different types of molds than the figures that they have released so far. Even if they are able to do it it would end up costing several times what the actual vintage figures do on the secondary market.
