Still not happy about how linear the first couple hours are, its ridiculous, why do we need a predetermined story why not just do char creation and get to it...
If anyone does read this enjoy and play as you please there is no such thing as a prefect start or perfect way to play. Take your time and knock out the park the things you want to do in the order you want to do them, i love this game.
Yea, I just do whatever. It's great to have a new Beth title finally.
Thanks, Brotha and same to you 🤙🏼🔥
This is definitely the type of game where a beginner guide would be incredibly helpful so thanks once again legacy!! Now i have an idea of how to begin my space ventures without too many issues hopefully. 🔥
If you hit TAB there is a help folder in the list..It literally has everything in it and most dont know about it
Why is it hard to figure out? Just play it and eventually you'll work into main story, find side missions, meet people, etc. What's so hard?
@@mattfayne9691 did I say anything being hard to do? No.. can I thank legacy gaming for giving us a helpful guide for us who want it. Yea I sure can.. that's not hard for you to understand right?

If it's not hard, why need a guide?
So funny how media outlets give this reviews from high nineties to low seventies, and honestly... I don't care, it looks like it will be a blast.
A huge, empty blast 😉
@@kidneystonermusic that... Sounds kinda wrong or something my ex wife might say... Still it's included in game pass, so I will give it a try... I doubt it will be as good as BG 3 though.
@EmperorProtects4848 It will be better than that garbage. There will be tons more to do. And it already looks for better than BG3. I don't really understand why they are even being compared.
@@Terrince_TateGarbage? Baldurs Gate 3 is a GOTY contender. Its a masterpiece of a game. Starfield will be superb too no dubt.
@@magnuslund22I agree that it's a good game. But comparing it to a juggernaut like Starfield? Brand new Bethesda game 25 years in the making? Starfield is taking game of the year in my opinion.
Man, your videos are always top notch and it blows me away! Great job with this one and looking forward to the others.
Starting my journey in a few hours and really really hyped!
This video is amazing! I appreciate all the details you covered. This is a must watch for all beginners. 5/5!
Official Bethesda sponsorship video! Congratulations 👏🎉 you guys grew soooo much in the last 2 years.
Thank you so much for this video. Inventory management has been killing me!😂
You and be both! Destroyed me during my first play through.
I love the amount of travel options we have, I use the fast travel option most when just running missions but use the immersive take offs when I am casually running through side content to keep myself from burning out on the game
Thanks for the video! I've held off on playing, but given the wide range of things you can do, I'm looking forward to playing it!
Holy eff! Congrats on the sponsorship. Awesome to see how far you guys have come and witness all your efforts paying off 💚✨
Ship building tip: Move your circle cursor AWAY from your ship in ship builder mode so the ADD option appears, then you can see the parts you can buy. This took me longer than I care to admit 😁 Also, you can only stick part together or add parts to the white circle / square symbol on other parts and parts won't flip around every direction.
Bro hasn't played a video game in years
Good looking out bud.
Super informative video my dude. Wish I would have seen it prior to the early access for premium. But I learned so much, and I thank you.
Thank you for the community. much love
Great stuff boys!!! Just a couple hours left to wait!
So close!
Your review was the initial reason I bought the game on Sept. 1st. Videos like this are extremely helpful even to me who's like 20 hours in so far. Thanks for everything Legacy!
any updates downloading as I text
It's a good game, but listening to paid content is a little dodgy when buying
@@tomwithey711 no regrets 26 hours in and I am LOVING IT!!
Super important to note that there are specific speech options based on the Background Choices, while some skills aren't immediately beneficial, the background is your badge of honor, big game hunters were seen to have a choice to increase your price for services during a conversation in the trailer, so this is more than a short term skill point choice, it will be your identity and how you can access different opportunities only accessible via this menu. As many have seen in New Vegas, skills and background choices can affect random events, choices when not only talking with people but interacting with tech and animals out in the galaxy. Fast points can cost you unique opportunities late game, the + mode at least gives you a chance to experience unique choices through each background combination!
There are also dialogue options based on the skills you have, not just your background.
Ones I have seen are based on background traits like Wanted and skills such as diplomacy, manipulation, starship engineering, etc.
I would highly recommend trying to unlock at least the first tier in as many skills as possible that you are interested in as soon as possible because there are some parts of the game that you may get different options in based on what skills you have.
The general census appears to be that the File Not Found background is not actually a mystery adventure or Wild Wasteland esque kind of twist, rather, it’s just a generic blank slate. The name File Not Found seems to heavily imply some kind of unique mystery behind it, but apparently it’s just a blank slate. Hopefully there’s something that players just haven’t discovered yet, but it really does seem like there isn’t anything behind it.
Excellent video! Thank you for this!
I’m excited to play this game, thanks for the guide 👍

Thanks for the video, i cant wait to start tonight
I've only been playing 2 hours or so, but the game is both fun and overwhelming. Outposts, research projects, ship building, ship fuels, skill tree, just feels like a lot. I like it. Outside of the large number of systems my only issue is that it's sort of ugly. The starting planets are just rocky planets that are not interesting, and then when you get to New Atlantis you might realize the face tech doesn't look that good. Anyway, just initial feelings. Hoping I start to enjoy more as I invest time.
I haven't played it yet but I've been reading & watching a lot of reviews. It looks like No man's sky but with guns. I don't know if you've played No man's sky, but if you have, can you tell me if it does feel like that? I'm just trying to get the opinion of someone who's playing it before I purchase it.
@@swiles59it is not no man’s sky not even close as space sim immersive it’s like a minor version of that but fallout 4 but personally I’m having a blast just don’t get the wrong idea going in or you’ll ruin the experience for yourself
@@haileyy1793 That's really helpful. Thank you for your input. I'm still trying to feel it out before I decide to buy it
Looks a lot better than Fallout 4. I aint complaining. Graphics are not paramount for me
@@haileyy1793I find NMS vacuous and boring. Same weird aliens over and over. Saying very little. Doing less
Very helpful video. This is my first real Bethesda style game, so I was overwhelmed last night as I got started. I had the CO2 thing happen to me and I didn't know why. It started to deplete my health.
I feel like I've been on a rollercoaster today watching different review videos for Starfield. One person says it's mediocre, another says it's the best thing since sliced bread. At this point I'm not sure who to believe. Since I'm on the west coast I guess I'll find out in 2 hours. Let's Go!!!
It's almost like reviews are highly opinion based, with a level of objectivity underneath haha. That's why we always say watch several reviews.
I didn’t understand how the Quickslotting worked and I was so frustrated going into my inventory every few minutes! Thank you so much!
And that you could equip your companions with better gear
Same I was about to quit 45 mins in until I found this lol... Well that and the performance but I think I've got it running sweet now 🤞
I just downloaded this game and there is so much stuff holy crap I never really played a Bethesda game before besides elder scrolls but I was a kid and didn’t understand anything basically. I decided to give this game a try and I can already tell I’m going to spend a year off my life playing it I can’t wait to learn more as I go!
As for the load screens… I don’t mind it. I installed on a WD Black Nvme SSD, and the load screens are maybe 1-4 seconds on average. I’d much rather be able to fast travel than have to take 10 minutes to get from one part of a mission to another, so while maybe not reality grounded, to me it keeps the action moving - which is more fun IMO.
I've seen a very wide range of comments on this. I'm playing via Gamepass on a tablet and my experience has been positive. Load times and transition times between cells are pretty quick.
@HuwhyteMan how do you find it playing on a tablet using game pass cloud gaming? I've got a chrome book not tested it out yet I just changed jobs and had to give back my windows laptop which I used to run steam on and play football manager alot and unfortunately you can't install steam to my chrome book so I am gutted I can't play the full PC version of football manager I have to make do with the console version which basically has no where near the detail or depth as the full game 😢 I downloaded the steam app but it doesn't let you play games
I bought the game on PC but got tired of messing with the mods, so I just bought it for my Xbox series X and am restarting. Even though I know a bit about the game and how to play it, I want to do it right from the beginning this time. These beginner videos help a ton. Thanks!
Same just started my first play through. This game is great!.
Thank you for the immersive travel guide 5:31
Great content, thanks brotato.
Just started. Super confused. But ill get there. Video helped. Thanks
I love your videos and I wanna ask, could you please do a review about those not-so-full-scale planetary explorations, when there are supposedly only 5-10km diameter bubbles and a next bubble does not connect to the previous one in terms of terrain, eg moutain continuing, but is independently created from the seed of the planet?
Thank you so much for this
The game is challenging at first, and it's huge.
But when you get going it is a blast .
9,5/10.
Hugeeee! That's what the Great Trump said! 👍
A 9.5, Jesus christ you're easy to please
Just about to start this game, what should I start with build wise. Super intimidated to start. CORRECT I JUST FIGURED THIS OUT!
I havent been blown away by any dialogue yet. I will say though, I can definitely appreciate the art and design in this game. Feels grounded for a sci-fi. The aesthetic is grade A (when asteroids arent glitching like a beach ball) 😂

@@Kristoker420 I just explorer, because that's my favorite part of the game but ended up doing lots of combat instead, lol. Bounty hunter is good too in my opinion. I think security is a good skill to get early there is a lot of lockpiccking that can get you bountiful rewards and powerful gear early in the game. The game is so flexible that any play style would get you a great experience. I'm. Now 20 hours in and still only few missions of the main quest line. Been just planet jumping and stealing pirate ships to seel them for credits.
I spent hours in the ship builder to have to scrap my creation but I love it.
I’m really looking forward to getting into this game this evening. My one question is, does your companion affect your ability to be stealthy? As in are they just standing there out in the open when you’re crouched behind a table and stuff. This will determine whether I start with the solo or companion trait that you can select(I believe) lol
If they're anything like other companions in past games, they will either draw no aggro whatsoever (but remain perfectly still out in the open), or they will draw all the aggro and go absolutely ham on anyone who sees them: leaving you to sneak past and pillage to your heart's content.
I hope companions mess everything up as per usual.
@@Nynja123TRT The latter, they're shoot(punch enemies across the room in vasco's case) first ask questions later type of companions.
This helped a lot so I subscribed
Thank you!
I started and its the first time I felt overwhelmed by the sheer scope of it.
We need a good tutorial showing/explaining the HUD. I can't even find my health meter. lol I haven't died yet because I grab every health pack I can and eat them like candy.
I think you have a eating disorder and a sweet tooth! Better sign up for Obamacare! 😅
I love it already it been fun
Im loving it so far, but I wish the game explained its systems better.
Totally agree. Some things are confusing until you can unravel how they work
excellent guide!!
Glad it was helpful!
Great video, also you can repair ship any time by pressing r3
Thanks, legend
Mass, not weight. They are different things and are not interchangeable. Thank you for reading my rant and thanks for the tips.
I am loving Starfield so for except for the space part of the game. I have bought an xbox controller that is arriving tomorrow to see if space combat etc is any better with that. So much of the UI of this game was obviously designed with consoles in mind, so if you cant beat em, join em.
"Bethesda - Muahaha here is the usual weight limit😈.
Modders- Limit? 🤔"
How do companion skills factor into gameplay? Can you send a companion to pick a lock, stealth kill an enemy, or craft stuff? Or do you need to do everything skillwise that you want to do?
I don’t know about anyone else but, “I aim to misbehave”.

Can you eventually get a freighter to store ships or do you only get one ship at a time?
You can have a whole fleet on ships
When you board a ship how do you get your ship back to the port or base, like now I have two ships and I can't drive them both so how does that work?
Great video, very helpful 👍. Im not so good at RPGs but this game just looks too damn good pass up on
I’ve never played a game like this so I’m a little nervous but hope these vids help
Am I understanding correctly that Eastern Time in the US will be able to play 90 minutes from now if we purchased the early access version? Midnight UTC September 1st is in an hour and a half
Last shift tomorrow with early finish! Cannot wait to get started 🎉
What time zone are you in?
Do you get to pick new traits on NG+ ?
you get three more skill points just by the end of the tutorial so don't stress too much about the starting abilities
Too late I stressed so hard I sharded 😮😢
When do you get these? When is the 'tutorial' actually over?
Ive spent a couple hours in the game and genuinely wanted a good story. The constellation story already has me zoning out at work. This games gonna be a page turner
Constellation story is fine, but I actually find the other stories to be more engaging. Don’t be afraid to go off the beaten path
I need to know a list of keyboard keys that perform things like shift power options or put on helmet ect ect
Love this game
Shipbuilding question. Are you changing ships a lot? Wondering if you do all this work and waste credits and then something better just comes along. That would be annoying. Plus how do you access inventory on multiple ships? Like if an item you need is on ship 1 and your using ship 3 what happens then?
With 2K24 & PL Cyberpunk 2007 dlc I’ve been busy grinding but now I finally have time to play & im loving it. But it’s a bit intense in the beginning, even lock picking was throwing me off but I figured it out after a couple of hours lol
I can releate man,I just got myself a series x and I'm downloading this game,Damn i feel like a kid lol
New rpg player : where’s the main story
Og rpg player: fill inventory and find vendor
og bethesda player: wheres faction missions, i wanna make money while i fill inventory, find vendor but not do main story yet; then walks into main story grossly overpowered because they got distracted and spent hundreds to thousands of hours in the world
Thanks for the guide. It's helpful. The first time I used my grav drive, I had to power it up. The only way to do that wa to take power away from another system. How can I get more power and sort of "bank it" on that lower bar that says "0/14"?
That's your power allocation system. You have to pull something out of a current system to move points around.
I downloaded this game from Game Pass last night but bought the premium upgrade because I didn't want to wait until Wednesday to play. I'm just barely getting started but can't wait to get home from work so I can dive in and explore.
Still liking it?
@@Kristoker420it's abit of a letdown
Bit disappointed the take-off portion isn't as fluid as No Man's Sky. Combat, both on the ground and in the air is fun. They've definitely improved on things since Fallout 4. I haven't crashed once either, and the frame rate is decent on medium settings.
Wonder if outposts take damage from weather or can be raided by creatures or mercs 🤔
Pirates will attempt to raid you, yes
I’m really impressed with Starfield after debating for some time whether or not to buy it. I must admit that the first two or three hours were bumpy and extremely confusing (menu, loading, menu, loading…..) and it’s nowhere near as pretty as I hoped it would be….. but then it sort of smooths out and feels like you are on an insane ride through the cosmos; the power of the game hit me and now I’m really enjoying it. It does not have the immersion of Skyrim or Fallout 4, which is a shame, but it does offer something … different.
Should just get a Xbox and get a friend's details with ultimate gamepass like I did 😂
Small tidbit but you can equip items on companions in Fallout. So its not as obscure as you seemed to make it, brand new Bethesda players would need to know this though so it's still necessary to mention.
It's like 1-2 sec load screens. Definitely don't mind them.
I will be playing on a PC. Should I start out with a Keyboard/Mouse or Controller for the best experience?
If you get caught with contraband there's a chance of being pulled in a d talked to by the head of security and file not found back ground comes up
How do you navigate through the multiple ships and know which one is active?
Hi hi, all ?? A question is it possible to pick up and salvage a direct modal "A" robot that I find in the field ?? ---- I see that (its) parts may be saved and put into ship storage
Biggest issue I had was when I got to New Atlantis I ended up with 8 different quest markers with no idea which one was for what mission! There's an option in the missions menu to show selected target or "all targets" why on earth anyone would want all selected I have no idea!
Can u have a ship in your ship?, like a fightership inside(anywhere) a mothership
With Kids trait can you model the appearance of your parents? Mine have both passed away already in real life and thought it'd be cool to put them into the game.
Hey, I have the same ship and the same gun compartment but the thing is that only the weapon racks and jetpacks disapesr when o fast travel to other place. All the storage box maintains the things, but the weapon racks will always disapear. Am I doing something wrong?
Just btw, you actually CAN build a ship from "nothing". You can do it completely from scratch. You just need to build it right with the necessary parts required for it to run and work, if you dont make it right warnings will pop up and show you what you need to fix
Seems to be little point in space travel with the fast travel system 😀
Great Video, do enemies repopulate when you return to planets or areas you have been? or is it a 1 time clear?
I believe it's one-time clear, but there are random encounters that will continue to create opportunities to fight.
Aw man, I hope enemies respawn :l They always have in past Bethesda games and I loved that the most about them. I only ever see permanent clears in games that follow D&D and cRPG rulesets because they're the furthest from action-RPGs
@@Nynja123TRT There's such an insane amount of locations to explore, it'll probably take months to clear everywhere.
@@Tattle-by-Tale I mean, it's more about clearing "dungeons" and expecting them to repopulate after 1 in-game week. If they don't, I'll be very disappointed in God Howard
@@Nynja123TRT What God Howard withholds, his modder minions shall provide. And i didnt see no busty bodies...
The biggest problem I have is being overwhelmed with choice at the very beginning. I have no idea if I should just follow the main quest and when to drift off to do my own thing.
im pretty sure you can buy a armory hab at lv 1 from any ship technician
Do you have to board the ship to move items to it? No way to do it from outside it?
The fast travel is nice, but Im sure you can miss a lot of stuff doing that. I'll probably get back in my ship, go to space, and plot my course to my objective. You never know, you could have a epic encounter in space.
based on the other reviews I've watched, you cannot do that unfortunately
@@ndwhitlow I know you cant freely explore space and actually fly to that point, but I am saying just go back to space and plot the objective. Just going to space could trigger a encounter. Im not a fan of the idea to just fast travel between planets. LOL so i will add unnecessary steps hahaaa
File not found should have been the blank slate that lets you pick 3 individual starter skills as opposed to a preset
Hi, I'm having difficulty navigating on a Planet's Surface; I'm stuck in TAU Processing Facility. I can't find the computer to 'Tune the Radio Frequency' to Complete this Quest?? Thanks!
anyone else notice that Building is spelt wrong on the graphic for the Ship Building part? it is spelt Buidling in the graphic, made me chuckle, great video!
Spelt isn’t a word, so I would pump the brakes on your grammar corrections lmao
@@JC-hq7iu Spelt is definitly a British English word, so you're wrong about correcting his grammar. :p
Do companions have perks they give like in fallout 4 when you max their affinity?
From the start yes
Can you get all skills at once then or is there a cap ?
Is there a way to rob a ship and strip it for parts or do i always have to sell the ones i dont want and build a new ship ?
I don't care about reviews. Fallout and Skyrim were outstanding! This will definitely have myself interested in space!
