365 days of recorded prayer and practicing celibacy by December 31,2024 One long form video completed by 29th each month Making 4,000.00 from my book and music by December 31,2024
After a decade dedicated to chasing a full-time music career, I found myself at a crossroads in 2020, exhausted from the relentless demands of the industry. The perpetual cycle of producing, writing, mixing, mastering, studying, creating content, and navigating the complexities of the music business had taken its toll. During my hiatus from releasing music on DSPs, a remarkable turn of events occurred that shifted my perspective entirely. I landed a substantial promotion at my corporate job, propelling me to new financial heights. While not driven by the desire for wealth, the newfound financial stability allowed me to care for myself and those around me like never before. Things that were once emergencies were now just minor inconveniences. I didn't realize I could thrive outside of music, and I certainly didn't anticipate finding joy in a corporate job. My passion for music is unwavering, and I plan to still release music because I believe God intends to use me as a vessel within that realm. The difference this time is that the pressure to derive financial stability from it has dissipated. Just like Nic said, I feel like I beat the game I was playing in my head. I have found true peace at this level in my life. I don’t really have any goals for now, it just feels great making music purely for the love of the art without commerce lurking in the shadows. I love that you're just doing! Everyone deserves to know what that feels like. Peace and love to anyone who reads this. P.S. During my hiatus, my music performed better than when I was active. lol One of my songs just hit 500k, which is pretty cool because I used to be so fixated on the numbers. Now, when I see that figure, it feels like my cup is overflowing.
Totally understand you - I work in strategy consulting. Getting a promotion to a manager and then a principal I first felt guilty that I am getting away from my dreams, but then I realized there is nothing bad about it and it actually removes pressure from doing music the way I like 🙏
Thank you for breaking this down man, "goal setting" is such a widely covered topic - but I think the conversation usually lacks the nuances of "WHAT kind of life do you want, HOW do you want to get there" etc. Especially when it comes to goal setting in the music industry. The whole "I know what I'm capable of, not wanting to waste God-given gifts" has really hit me for 2024 too... appreciate how real this talk and your content overall is Nic - happy new year!👊🏻

The trouble is it seems you’re looking for a secret, a short cut. There aren’t any. The stuff I share here is stuff that has helped me grow my career in music. Yes, I’m just chatting. I’m sharing my thoughts and insights on what I’ve learned over the years that have gotten me to do 1 million streams everyday. The tactics and sauce are make good music, make good content, and utilize the internet to your advantage. Be consistent, release frequently, create more than you consume. There are people who are enjoying the content I’m creating here on this channel so I will continue to make it for them and any others who come across it and may find it valuable. You want to 10x your streams? 10x your output. It’s not easy but it is straight forward. All love bro I wish you the best.
No one is going to feed you with a golden spoon. You have to do the work. The wisdom Nic is priceless, thank you for leading independent artist the right way. Much love 🙏🏻 🎶
So much gr8 advice in all these videos. At about 100K monthly listeners at the moment. Looking forward to applying the advice on this channel this year and continuing to build and grow
I started 2023 with growing from 90k to 120k monthly listeners and seeing growth I've never seen before. But in the summer my distributor enrolled my music (200+ songs) in Spotify Discovery Mode which randomly seemed to swap my weekly algorithmic plays for radio plays which made me drop down to 75k monthly listener. I've never ever in 10 years seen a loss in streams like this before? Like what the hell is happening? I left the programme 1 month ago and I will release a ton of music in 2024. I hope I can recover and grow with beautiful music. Because at the core, it's all about the music. But WHY has 2023 been so wild in terms of growth and loss? I've never seen Spotify change so much before and it's scaring me a bit.
We’re at 60K monthly listeners. My goal is 1M monthly listeners. 1,000,000 streams per week.. We gettin close. These simple insights & perspectives help a lot. Thanks Nic. 🙏🏾👁
I'm gonna definitely take this into consideration with my drawing and writing goals. In the past I never thought about setting deadlines and therefore I personally never really finished or would delay my work. I appreciate this video because it gives me a way to properly execute what I want to do.
Good motivational video to start the year with! I'm not going to give myself any goals around a metric like followers or streams at this point, mainly because I'm just starting out (first solo releases as this name late in 23') and yet to put $$ into ads or anything that should tie to tangible growth metrics, so I think that may be discouraging at this stage. Instead my main goal for 24' is to release a song idea/performance or other video associated with the idea once per week and worst case once per 2 weeks, and to start playing live shows again. Beyond that I do have an album coming out late in January, and am working on an EP with another friend for a debut side project. My wife & I are having my first baby in February and I have a full time Finance job, so I'm trying to give myself goals that are realistic and fulfilling/enjoyable to me. Hopefully growth in the other metrics comes with it but I can't set my mentality around it right now
Hey, Nic! I discovered you very lately and I have to say you're super great and I became your fan! I mean, what left me struck ( aside of course your music business "story" and advices) is your music. The way you write songs is very personal and I can feel it. So guys, it's ok the consistency, it's ok the content creation and all the things behind that, but music speaks first. So, focus on that a lot :). Another artist that I love and come to my mind is Russ. He makes awesome music, has a similar story and he's still indipendent. Could be super cool and interesting an interview together, Nic! :)✌🏼
Hi Nic, your career trajectory is really inspiring! It kind of struck me when you said you had "no goals" for your music at the moment. But I do get your explanation. It got me thinking that maybe at your "level' goals can be more artistically driven? in the sense of exploring genres or concepts just for the sake of making art and exploring your gift. what are your thoughts on that? would love to know how you feel about that perspective! thanks for all the tremendous insight, peace.
I have action goals and result goals. My action goals are to release a new song every week, and some kind of content every day. My result goals are to get to 100k monthly listeners on Spotify. I can't directly affect the result goal, but I know if I focus on my action goals it gives me the best chance to get the results I want.

@@MorakleMusic To be honest, the things Nic are saying is the way to go. I've been doing a version of what he's been doing for years except he's been going harder. No shortcut, like he says, just tons of content and releases. Check out his audiobook. I just ready it and it's epic. So helpful! Best of luck.
probably the biggest thing I've learned in this game is consistency. Consistent Good Content. And patience. I always tells folks plan on years not months of grind.
Its crazy. I have goals but none of the resources to get there. No money, no higher up connections, no marketing in. Oh well, i guess im just destined to fail
Nic, what would you say to people who make music that is more on the experimental side? If their goals are to have the kind of streaming numbers you have but their music isn’t exactly considered pop. Do you think it is necessary to conform the kind of art you want to make to the goals you are setting for your personal life? My feeling is that as we age and are confronted with turning art into money somehow, we compromise on the art to be closer to the things that we see in the world are already currently succeeding. It’s unfortunate but do you think that is worth it for the sake of meeting goals? Or are the steps to achieving these kinds of streaming goals unrelated to the content of the music itself, and entirely about how it’s promoted?
And Jim Carrey will never know what it's like to work you entire life on something and never quite get there. His success got him a lot more than a lifetime of failure.

Ive been trying to grow my streams for a while now but I just can't. I just released some new music but it did worse than my last songs. How can i grow my streams and get more people interested in my music, or at least get to hear it?
You're so lovely, thank you for sharing, it really means a lot, you're a fantastic teacher. I've learned SOOO much on my creative journey, it does take a lot time and patience, and sometimes fighting so many demons to find that truth in it.
Jim carry was right, i had everything but i felt empty, i tried drugs, women, giving people money to make me feel better and so on, until i almost lost my life.that moment i released what brought me joy was music, i dropped everything and started my journey to a happier, healthier life. Family and doing what i love, the process ,living in the moment as i do what i love and is what gives me joy, i figured out why i was created.
Thank you for sharing your wisdom Nic and Happy New Year to you and your family! Your consistency is appreciated - I hope you continue to grow as well and as always thank you for the inspiration
Fulfillment occurs inside out, we cannot ultimately be fulfilled by outer things, but from honoring/loving/listening to ourselves and where our hearts lead us and that includes the process, the adventure you're talking about. Love how grounded and real you are @iamnicd
This channel is full of 💎’s. Thank you for what you do. Currently 264k monthly listeners but I’m not releasing as consistently as I know I could. Also I’m in a very specific market (Spanish Christian market) which is very small… hopefully this strategy still stands in my market.
This video is honestly incredible. Mostly because it showed me that I can be successful as an independent artist despite the fact that I can also not keep my plants healthy
Hey Nick, just wanted to say I'd love to open for you with my solo/looping set if your planning any live shows. I can definitely sell some tickets here in the states as well as in the UK & I'll be touring quite a bit in 2024. Let me know but regardless, what you're doing here for original artists is generous and solid info so well done :)
I've never heard anyone before explain 'the game' and this looming weight to reach what you know with some applied effort you can do like the way you just did. Thank you for this, this resonated with me personally a lot and the frame of mind I wish to possess into my music career. Best wishes Nic. :)

So you were or are making 4k a day more or less and wow that's incredible off of music... so how do you keep the cost of production low (about how much per song? are you producing/mixing/mastering yourself?) and how did you build up to that? What were the steps in getting that much attention streaming? A lot of questions I know but I'm inspired!

Then I'll set up a new goal to another level.
Ive been trying to grow my streams for a while now but I just can't. I just released some new music but it did worse than my last songs. How can i grow my streams and get more people interested in my music, or at least get to hear it?

Nic, how do you turn social media followers to listeners? 😭
Was working on this today - perfect timing. Keep these coming!
I. Want to get to the point of at least 200,000 streams a day, this is my goal
100 monthly listeners so far - first week let’s see where it goes
Wow, this is a great testimony. This must be how Lionel Messi feels too. Thanks ❤
What made you choose to focus on IG early on versus Tiktok?
water them plants 😭 prune the dead crunchy leaves
0 monthly listeners. Let’s do it
Dang, you're turning into my personal life coach lol
@nicd when we make it what is the best way we can repay you for this content?
I definitely hope to get on your level just a pronominal person
Beautiful message. I appreciate you sharing your wisdom. You are gold, brother ⚡💛⚡
Thank you for sharing your wisdom Nic and Happy New Year to you and your family!
Your consistency is appreciated - I hope you continue to grow as well and as always thank you for the inspiration
A lot of wisdom thank you sir.
I’m at 62k monthly listeners but I need to work more …
Fulfillment occurs inside out, we cannot ultimately be fulfilled by outer things, but from honoring/loving/listening to ourselves and where our hearts lead us and that includes the process, the adventure you're talking about.
Not one of his goals clearly
Very good advice, thank you ♥
Great human being!!!
I think that plant needs water
Crazy because this is exactly what I was going to take today to specifically do and here is a helpful video right when I need it
That Lowe’s hat got caught in the mower a few times
May I please ask, did you just create content until it went off or did you run focused ads to a target audience?
I guess this question is for anyone that has achieved success in this area
give us more content here
Can I share my music?
Don't know if you understand how profound the "I'm just doing it" was at the end!!! Thanks Nic as always
deadlines baby! yo your info and mindset has been huge for me at the perfect timing. thanks Nic!
Awesome advice 😀😀
Hey Nick, just wanted to say I'd love to open for you with my solo/looping set if your planning any live shows. I can definitely sell some tickets here in the states as well as in the UK & I'll be touring quite a bit in 2024. Let me know but regardless, what you're doing here for original artists is generous and solid info so well done :)
I've never heard anyone before explain 'the game' and this looming weight to reach what you know with some applied effort you can do like the way you just did. Thank you for this, this resonated with me personally a lot and the frame of mind I wish to possess into my music career. Best wishes Nic. :)
Ok but now we gotta see you juggle
Thank you for the daily inso lately my man
This is my year 😤
i appreciate you for doing these videos, bruh. i have the same goals as you, as far as being home to spend time with my wife and kids whilst maintaining a successful music career. i'm finally doing music full time, but there's a lot of work to do to get toa more comfortable place. gonna be applying these tips this year and see where it takes me. thanks for the motivation.
“I’m just doing it” I felt that in my spirit Nic thanks for the confirmation.
Our life goals are the same and I'm so happy to know its possible. Thanks nic❤

🙌🙌🙌🙌🙌
Great info and great music Nic
I got a whole life lesson from this video! Thank you Nic
Thanks
Same life goal….
Your life goal and commitment to your family is beautiful. ❤️😍 Too many people hate their jobs and have to work really long hours to not even have the life they deserve. Struggling to pay the bills is no fun. Thank you from the UK 🇬🇧 for keeping the DREAM 💭alive. Making money from what you love is something achievable. Stories like yours keep our dreams alive.
My partner (daughter's Dad) has given up on his music. I'm going to see if he will watch your videos with me. If you have an Audio of your book please do let me know. 😊👍 My daughter cannot commit to music because of University (long hours studying). But I hope to help them both. Thank you for making these video. 👍😊🥰
The psychology aspect and emotional intelligence you show Nic is simply wonderful. I'm at the very start of this journey with just (I think) good material and hardly any followers. So we'll see!! Gulp. Thanks for being so available with your advice.
Hey man, I’ve been watching all of your videos, and I am trying to figure out what I’m missing. I can’t tell if my music isn’t up to par yet, or what but, I’ve tried everything and I can’t get my content to hit. Any help would be great, thanks.
All of your questions are answered in other videos on my channel!
@@frdiforartists great! Can you point me in the right direction and link them here for others who are also curious :)
