For those that don't know wood wraps like hell when exposed to water in jungle conditions so they tried to insulate it using Duct tape but they didn't do a very good job at it.
People don't realize that during war.. especially vietnam that guns became damaged from the high humidity when they had wood furniture.. plus it's not like you had a weapons armourer to maintain weapons when they would be on patrol for a month
Such a big part of the gun feel in these games were the ultra exaggerated recoveries after firing the weapon. That, along with the stylized posing, weapon silhouettes, and the gun sounds being cranked up in the mix did so much to help set the look and feel of these games apart. Even nowadays they still have such a strong identity. Also this might’ve been one of the first iterations of dual rendered sniper scopes in a major fps franchise. It took CoD several years after to implement them in Ghosts and even longer for Battlefield to bring them back.
that's not how dual render works, the real term is Picture-in-Picture (PiP) and that's where only the portion of the screen that has the scope is zoomed in, everything else is at 1x zoom for a good example, look at all 3 Insurgency games (the 2007 mod, the 2014 game, and Sandstorm)
@@harveyknguyen Interesting. So was dual render just a buzz words devs were using and it’s been PiP all along, or is it an actual technique some mainstream shooters utilize that’s different from PiP? I remember the Ghosts devs were using the term to describe the scopes in that game.
@@MoosebreathMan65 yeah it's a buzzword coined by Infinity Ward for Ghosts, they were using PiP and called it dual render because at the time PiP was a TV broadcasting term that dates back to the mid 1970s
Bc2 and vietnam re-uses animations from battlefield 1943, bad company 1 and medal of honor 2010 And of course these are NOT CLEAN, lots of import issues, and the animations that aren’t imported, are terrible as the uzi in this video
but let's remember that bad company 2, vietnam and MoH2010 they all came out in the same year (in order: March 2010, October 2010 and November 2010). Right BF1943 came out a year earlier and was created as an ''experiment'' to give a taste of frostbite 1.5. the animations are still clean remember that they came out in years where Cod used the stock animations and sounds from Cod 4 (they still do this and Cold War is the easiest example). Now, I don't remember that other modern military FPS games were released in those years (so let's get Halo Reach out of the list already) but I don't think they had the same visual and sound clarity like DICE games (not counting the Destruction system). In conclusion, the animations are not 100% realistic but they gives you the sound and looks of how a real gun works and the spectator wants all this. i gotta say that they did incredibly well.
the animations of bad company 2 (like the first one and 1943) they were already very long for such a frenetic game they didn't need another animation. not to mention that some weapons actually already have that type of animation by default (for example the rpk, ak or the m16)

Sound design: Excellent.
Visual Design: Very Good.
Actual Reload Animations: Cursed as all hell. 😂
Almost every gun in this game has some sort of wrapping on it.
Mummy hand wraps too
Probably to make it like wartime conditions?
Whole game was borderline post apocalyptic vibes with the character models as well, guess the rag-tag look just played into it

@@justaguy1212 no, Halo has the entire screen zoom in with a reticule overlay
The animations in this game are satisfying but boy do a lot of them have accuracy issues
Like the fact that when firing the last round on the .45, the slide doesn't lock to the rear?
@@roughseas3455it’s not accuracy problem, the script is made for 1 reload so they need to choose between slider lock back magically or never lock back

now looking back Frostbite 1.5's art style aged really well

We must admit the weapon design in Battlefield bad company 2 is more realistic than Battlefield V

RPK sleeves go left
